| “ | Warriors are the natural end result of a species optimized for mindless expansion. In controlled environments, they have eviscerated innocent baby cows in under a second. One can only imagine what they would do to innocent baby humans. | „ |

The Warrior is a medium sized
Terminid that appears in missions starting from Trivial (1) Difficulty.
Serving as the swarm's default soldier, Warriors make up the bulk of
Terminid forces. Their preferred tactic is to either rush towards the
Helldiver or flank them by crab-walking around them. After they get into melee range, they proceed to unleash a flurry of slicing attacks using their two main claws. This "stunlock" can be escaped by diving away.
While not dangerous on their own or in small numbers, Warriors are usually assisted by a swarm of Scavengers or Pouncers, which they use as a distraction to close the gap.
Anatomy[]
Tactics[]
- Warriors are unarmored; thus, any kind of machine gun is effective in clearing their numbers.
- Their heads serve as their main weakpoint, being both large and exposed. Depending on the weapon, it may take only one shot or a small burst to shoot it off.
- Once beheaded, Warriors may enter something akin to "Berserker" mode. They will charge at the last spot they knew the Helldiver was standing, and relentlessly attack it. It is advised to move away from your location if that happens, as death is almost guaranteed if no precaution is applied. After a while, they will die on their own. All warrior-type terminids are capable of a berserk charge.
- While gunning them down is an option during this state, if one wants to save on ammunition, merely performing a well-timed melee attack on a berserk Warrior-type beast will stun and stagger it back, which is typically enough time for it to expire on its own. Caution is advised while doing this, as this puts you within the Warrior's attack range aswell.
- While shooting off their limbs drastically slows them down, it is not really useful when the Warrior itself can be killed in a couple well placed shots. It may be useful when assisting your retreating squadmate instead.
- If other Terminids are present, Warriors will often try to encircle a Helldiver that is standing still. Movement is key when fighting the Bugs!
- Warriors can perform a short animation of burrowing underground and emerging behind any Helldiver. While this is quite rare, it is important to remember in case you lose sight of a Warrior.
Variations[]
The Warrior comes in three other variants:
Bile Warrior[]
A variant of the Warrior covered in bile sacks as well as a black carapace. They will explode if killed by any weapon, damaging everything in close proximity; this can lead to a chain reaction if other species of Bile Terminids are present. Any Helldiver caught in the blast will be severely slowed down for a couple of seconds.
Spore Burst Warrior[]
A variant of the Warrior found only within the Gloom. Sporting a red and white-ish carapace and horn-like growths, they explode on death into a cloud of spores, causing minimal damage in small proximity.
Alpha Warrior[]
A variant of the Warrior strain that assists Alpha Commanders, sporting a reddish carapace instead of grey. Once said Commander detects a Helldiver, it will do a quick animation similar to calling a Bug Breach, but without any sound, and spawn up to 4 of these Warriors. These Warriors are much faster and more aggressive than the regular ones and can quickly deal with an unsuspecting Helldiver in mere seconds if allowed to close in.
Rupture Warrior[]
A variant of the Warrior found in planets around the Gloom. They have a darkish red carapace. These Warriors have evolved to bury themselves underground for mobility and are capable of surprise attacks.
