Submerged in eternal winter, this world's frosty peaks glimmer in the light of its too-distant star.
~ Official Description

Vog-Sojoth is one of the six planets that reside in the Tanis Sector.

Topography[]

Similar to Marfark, Vega Bay and Vandalon IV.

History[]

Second Galactic War[]

Operation Titanium Belt[]

Vog-Sojoth was, for many decades, a peaceful planet colony of Super Earth, far into the western galactic rim, its citizens thriving amongst the icy peaks and glacial valleys. However; the Automatons, programmed to destroy what the hardworking colonists had worked so hard to settle, would not permit Vog-Sojoth to go untouched.

After the Automatons invaded Cyberstan and occupied the Valdis Sector, they began to rapidly and aggressively occupy the planets immediately adjacent to the Valdis Sector. As the Helldivers raced to prevent the Automatons from advancing, neighbouring Lesath would fall into the mechanical grip of the killer robots, prompting Vog-Sojoth's Colonial Overseer to cut its FTL Lines with Lesath in order to safeguard the Tanis Sector from the socialist menace.

As the months passed, the colonists in Vog-Sojoth did what they could to reinforce their colony, stockpiling what little weapons they had while hoping that, when the FTL network was eventually restored, they would be greeted by the SEAF telling them they were safe. However, it was not in Liberty's plans for such a fate to befall on Vog-Sojoth.

On September 8th, 2184, the Automatons launched an assault from their Forward Command Post at Lesath and onto Vog-Sojoth, while also sending a massive attack from Gaellivare to Imber. The Helldivers, who had the mission of protecting Imber's titanium deposits by all means necessary, would see themselves forced to abandon Vog-Sojoth to its own meager devices.

Vog-Sojoth's Colonial Defenders fought hard, and the Helldivers that were able to do so provided significant support. However, by the time Imber was defended, Vog-Sojoth's defenses had already cracked, allowing the robots to take over the planet.

From there, the bots would go on to launch a final assault from Vog-Sojoth to Claorell on September 11th, in tandem with a final attack from Gaellivare to Imber, with both attacks being successfully repelled, blocking the Automatons from obtaining Imber's titanium deposits.

Operation Liberty Tide[]

However, the Automaton Vanguard at Vog-Sojoth had a particularly relentless programming. With an unquenchable expansionist thirst, the Automatons then turned towards the opposite side and sent an attack from Vog-Sojoth towards Clasa and Claorell. Due to logistical issues concerning the unusually difficult liberation campaign at Pandion-XXIV, the Helldivers were unable to divert enough manpower towards both of the planets, which allowed the robots at Vog-Sojoth to completely prevent any further liberation campaigns.

Interim and (eventual) Liberation[]

Since its capture by the Automatons in September, Vog-Sojoth has been stuck under the cold metallic grip of the robots with the Helldivers unable to break the deadlock on the planet. The Helldivers had even once brought the planet to roughly 70% liberation progress but were then pulled away elsewhere to other Major Orders, bringing all their progress to 0% with the planet still under full robot control into January 2185. Coupled with the shocking reappearance and consistent raids of the Illuminate, the planet remains away from the grace of liberty, hoping for justice to return to its frosty horizons someday soon.

Over the coming weeks and months there would be many attempts to liberate the planet, some liberation campaigns coming shockingly close to achieving their goal -- only for them to be abandoned for one reason or another. Finally that day would come on the morning of the 3rd of March, 2185 as nearly six months of occupation by the socialist toasters finally came to an end. However, the price of freedom is high, as the liberation of Vog-Sojoth came at a hefty price. Amidst the liberation campaign on the snowy world, the Terminids had managed to capture Achird III while the Automatons launched a powerful attack on Wasat further north which they successfully captured.

Operation Damage Control[]

For roughly 2 months, Vog-Sojoth's snowy peaks went on peacefully. Its colonists who had escaped to Claorell finally returned to their homes, with much of the planet ravaged in the wake of spending 6 months under the occupation of the Automatons. Luckily, with the bots of the Tanis Sector quiet, Vog-Sojoth escaped much of the major events of the war through May. In the immediate weeks after Vog-Sojoth's liberation, its colonial overseer watched on in horror as the newly built Automaton Incineration Corps wreaked havoc across the Galactic Northwest, stomping through planet after planet until they were eventually defeated on Pöpli IX. Defeated for now, whatever planets were untouched by the Automatons during their brazen attack finally breathed some sigh of relief.

Vog-Sojoth's peace was not to go by purely unthreatened. After their defeat on Pöpli IX, the Automatons reverted to their tactic of small, precise attacks. In early April, the Helldivers were forced to turn to the East to liberate Nivel 43 in The Gloom and then had to contain a massive attack across numerous worlds led by the Predator Strain. Taking advantage of the Helldivers' attention against the Terminids, the bots launched an attack on Lesath and successfully captured it by the next day. Some weeks later, the bots invaded Gaellivare with a relatively small invading force. With the Helldivers ordered to battle the Terminids and the Illuminate at the time, Gaellivare was undermanned and fell by the next day. Amidst all the chaos across the galaxy, the Automatons capitalized on an earlier Illuminate raid on Mastia and launched an attack on the reeling planet, aiming to collapse its defenses in just 12 hours. They were successful, and the hurt wouldn't stop there. On April 28th, some hours after the Illuminate ransacked Claorell, the bots became aware of the Squ'ith raid and assembled a small invading force to collapse its defenses in just 12 hours. Claorell would eventually fall disastrously as the Deep Mantle Forge Complex was now under Automaton control.

Some hours after Claorell's fall, the Illuminate had completely disappeared from the galaxy, stopping their ongoing raid on Turing. With Super Earth claiming victory over the Squ'ith, High Command immediately issued a new Order for the Helldivers to take back all the critical infrastructure that was lost to the Terminids and the Automatons during the Illuminate's final moments, including the Factory Hub, Centre for Civilian Surveillance and Safety, and the Deep Mantle Forge Complex.

Amidst the successful liberation efforts on Mastia and Achernar Secundus, Claorell was the final priority of the Operation. The initial moments of Claorell's liberation were extremely brutal, with the Automatons heavily fortifying the planet, as shown by a 3% enemy resistance rate on Helldiver Galactic Maps. With progress slow but plenty of time left for the Operation's timer, all seemed to be going alright. Unfortunately, freedom's enemies often have a devious trick up their sleeve, and the Automatons are certainly no strangers to doing so.

Vog-Sojoth's peace was soon to end. By May 1st, with the main Helldiver fleet concentrating on Claorell, trouble began to occur in both the East and the West. On the Terminid front, the virulent Predator Strain completed their takeover of Bore Rock and immediately began an attack on Terrek moments after. Shortly after, it was the Automatons' turn to cause problems as the rebuilt Automaton Incineration Corps was spotted on the fully Automaton-controlled Penta. They were then spotted moving to Lesath, and from there the Incineration Corps launched a brazen attack, beginning a dual assault on Vernen Wells and Vog-Sojoth. That wasn't to be all, however, as a third division of the Incineration Corps was now stationed on Gaellivare. In a truly sinister moment, the Automatons then launched a massive attack on Imber, Claorell's southern flank.

With the invasions of Vog-Sojoth and Imber, it became clear what the Automatons were truly up to. By capturing both, the bots would lock the Deep Mantle Forge Complex on Claorell away for good from the FTL network, which would force the Helldivers to retreat to Imber. With time running out on both defenses, the Helldivers surely had to intervene on either planet to stop the Automatons' gambit from being successful.

Instead, what would follow ended up being marked as one of the worst Helldiver defeats during the Second Galactic War. Despite having the Eagle Storm booster of the Democracy Space Station active, which would slow Automaton progress in defense campaigns, the Helldivers opted not to send the DSS to either Imber or Vog-Sojoth, nor were significant portions of the Corps mobilized to either planet to defend against the invading Automatons. As such, by the next day, both Vog-Sojoth and Imber had fallen, officially locking Claorell & Vog for good and eventually causing the failure of the Operation.
