~ Official Description

Vega Bay is one of the five planets that reside within the Ymir Sector.

Topography[]

Similar to Marfark, Heeth, Vog-Sojoth, and Vandalon IV

History[]

Second Galactic War[]

Operation Destiny Manifested[]

First Battle of Vega Bay (June 2nd-3rd)[]

Vega Bay would be a peaceful planet for most of the initial months of the Second Galactic War. However, peace was not to last. On June 2nd, 2184, shortly after the conclusion of Operation Enduring Peace, Automaton Forces in Wezen and Wasat launched an assault at Vega Bay, in pursuit of their goal of kicking the SEAF out of the Ymir Sector and ultimately enlarge their entrenchment into the Western Galactic Rim. By June 3rd, Vega Bay had fallen to the Automaton assaults and the liberation campaign failed due to FTL lines to Vega Bay being cut off.

Operation Valiant Resistance[]

Second Battle of Vega Bay (June 8th-9th)[]

After the liberation of Wezen, Helldivers flooded to Vega Bay, as it was next in the route to Wasat, the location of the rumored Database one, an important Automaton Datacenter. Progress was swift, with the indomitable might of the Helldivers crushing the Automatons stationed here. At 10pm Earth Super Time the last Automatons on this planet were scrapped, Helldivers were quick to move to the Automaton world of Wasat, The home of Database One.

Operation Starslayer[]

Third Battle of Vega Bay (July 5th-8th )[]

Operation Starslayer began on July 3rd. Automaton forces scrambled to make counterattacks aimed at cutting off reinforcements to the X system and the Meissa system. Vega bay, being part of the supply line connecting the Ymir Sector to the rest of Super Earth's space, became a target of interest for the socialist machines.

A defense campaign began on July 5th to hold the system. Due to it's strategic importance, Vega Bay received more reinforcement than the neighbouring systems, which ultimately decided the fate of this defensive campaign. However, a second assault followed on July 6th, which would not enjoy as much aid. This inevitably led to Vega Bay falling on July 7th.

Operation Liberty Crush[]

Fourth Battle of Vega Bay[]

For 3 weeks, Vega Bay remained in a bloody stalemate between the Helldivers and the Automatons, as the Helldivers had to jump back to the Terminid Front then towards the Hydra and Lacaille Sectors. However, with Operation Andromeda, the Automaton front was severed in half, leaving Vega Bay disconnected from Cyberstan, with its defenses in disarray. Before it could recover, the Helldivers would send the main fleet towards it, seeking to open the line towards Wezen. By July 30th, Vega Bay had been finally liberated once and for all, with the Automatons being squeezed out of the Ymir Sector on August 4th with the liberation of Wezen, ensuring Vega Bay would remain free for good.

Operation Tormenta de Fuego[]

Vega Bay's final liberation ensured its peace for roughly the next 8 months. The snowy world went on quietly, with the bots never making a consolidated push out West in that time, only really moving as far as Matar Bay and Martale. The Automatons instead expanded their holdings to the east, capturing swaths of territory in the Tanis Sector and Gellert Sector while also pushing very close to Super Earth in the Marspira and Talus sectors.

Overall, the Automaton front was relatively quiet for the first 2 months of the new year 2185. Most SEAF efforts centered on the fallout from the return of the Illuminate while also containing the spread of the Terminid plague to the east and south. The Helldivers even made their first foray into The Gloom in this time, a major military and scientific achievement in Super Earth's fight against Tyranny.

Alas, in March 2185, the Automaton front would suddenly reawaken from its overall temporary slumber. Amid Helldiver attention elsewhere, the bots would quietly reenter the Ymir Sector, capturing both Meissa and Wasat with overall limited SEAF resistance. The bots were now prepared to strike deep into the Ymir Sector, threatening the peace that Vega Bay's colonists had enjoyed for so long after the valiant efforts of the Helldivers in 2184.

Then, on March 18, a troubling new foe would emerge on Helldiver galactic maps. The Automatons, in their quiet and calculated avarice, managed to build a new strike force of even more nefarious mechanized brutality than the Jet Brigade. Automaton warships appeared in massive numbers in the atmospheres of both Bekvam III and Martale with a new detachment leading the offensive: the Incineration Corps, a sub-faction of bots equipped with incendiary weaponry and artillery powering the attacks. An Order would be immediately issued, with the Helldivers forced to choose between defending against the massive Automaton incursion into federation space or gathering the necessary E-710 to power the Penrose Energy Siphon to stop the Meridian Singularity's advance toward Ivis.

Vega Bay wouldn't be spared from the Automaton's metallic clutches. In tandem with the attacks on Bekvam and Martale, 13 Automaton battalions appeared in the atmosphere of Vega Bay, prepared to take over the snowy world with the somewhat smaller yet significant force of bots.

Unlike the two other ongoing incursions at the time, the assault on Vega Bay was not led by the Incineration Corps, with the normal Automaton fleet taking charge of their offensive campaign in the Ymir Sector. Despite the smaller strike force and no Incinerator bots present on the world, the Helldivers largely ignored Vega Bay's defense with Martale and Bekvam both closer to the frontlines and also having to fend off the fire-wielding Automatons. As a result, SEAF forces on Vega Bay were severely undermanned and were overwhelmed by the invading robot force by the next day, the beautiful snowy world now once again tormented by the Automaton machinations.

Vega Bay's Automatons wouldn't just be content with stopping there, as they now saw an opportunity to expand further West with the Helldiver presence in the Ymir Sector significantly lower than in the Nanos and Andromeda sectors. Immediately after Vega Bay's defenses collapsed, they launched an assault on Wezen which, if the bots were successful, would put them right on the doorstep of entering the Trigon Sector at Varylia 5.

Ultimately, Wezen's defense was even more undermanned than Vega Bay's. With most of the Corps trying to contain the Incineration Corps at Martale, Helldiver presence in the Ymir Sector was already significantly low. Then, when the Automatons launched another assault on Duma Tyr an hour later, it all seemed hopeless for the hellish Wezen. The planet fell by the next day, with the Automatons now on the doorstep of Varylia 5.

Some days later, the Automatons had made it all the way to Dolph, Julheim, and Charbal-VII with the Helldivers unable to contain the bot threat, with vast swaths of territory stolen from the federation. With SEAF West efforts in disarray, the Automatons once again spotted an opportunity to deal more damage. X-45, now the sole lone planet in Super Earth's hands in the Ymir Sector, was completely encircled without any escape route. As such, the Automatons sent 10 invasion fleets toward the swampy world, knowing that a victory on the planet would close off the entirety of the sector from the FTL network and bring it under full Automaton control. X's defenses were once again heavily undermanned, and when the Automatons began an assault on Choepessa IV 12 hours later, the skeleton fleet on the world went away to fend off that latest invasion. X was doomed, and with it so were Vega Bay and the Ymir Sector.

X-45 fell by the next day, officially closing off the entire sector from the light of liberty for the forseeable future. Vega Bay's snowy peaks demand justice, a day that will come perhaps not now, but in due time.
