A crimson algae has propagated wildly across this entire planet, coating its rocky hills with a constant red that masks the spilt blood of the heroes who defend it from tyranny.
~ Official Description

Valmox is one of the seven planets that reside within the Rictus Sector.

Topography[]

Similar to Gatria, Ubanea, Crimsica and Ingmar. Valmox is a rugged and striking world, slightly smaller than Super Earth, the ecosystem of Valmox is characterized by treeless flat steppes, gently rolling hills, wetlands, and interlinkages with several continent spanning Mountain Range. Whilst it might appear from orbit that much of the surface is covered in crimson red grass, this grass is in reality a crimson algae that has propagated wildly across the entire planet.

History[]

Valmox was, for much of its recorded history, a peaceful planet colony of the Federation of Super Earth that, by all standards, was pretty uneventful. Having been settled at some during the Great Democratization after the First Galactic War, the first colonists possibly found a naturally resource-rich and fertile region in which to settle. This resulted in the colonists congregating into more in fortified communities over time, which ultimately developed into the planet's first true cities, complete with working appliances, services such as electricity and waste management and many other staples of urban living. At some point, the settlements that later became the planetary capital of Obedience, as well as the cities of Rebelsgrave and Reformed-by-Truth would be first erected.

However, an old foe of Managed Democracy dedicated themselves to staring at Valmox with envy from deep within the endless vastness of space. The Illuminate Icon Illuminate, once thought defeated and extinct, had returned and were once again determined to wage war against Freedom.

On December 17th, Valmox was attacked in tandem with Kerth Secundus, another planet colony in another sector. However, Valmox's hopes were not lost as the Helldivers, who had already defeated the Illuminate before at Calypso and Bellatrix, were determined to end this odious stalking of Valmox's noble citizenry once and for all. For almost 8 hours, the Helldivers valiantly held the line at Valmox while the invaders at Kerth were repelled. Then, once Kerth Secundus had been rescued, the Helldiver Corps concentrated on Valmox and cast the alien invaders away, safeguarding its citizens and settlements once again.

Operation Keough Push[]

Valmox would spend the final week of the year both in peace and in ruins, its colonists attempting to grasp some semblance of peace after such a precipitous entry into the ongoing galactic war. However, they were not fated to last much longer without outside interruptions. Amidst Operation Keough Push, the Illuminate would launch an invasion at Valmox on January 31st, 2025. With the Helldivers concentrated in the task of destroying the Automatons Icon Jet Brigade Factories at Chort Bay, Valmox's defense would not stand a chance against the Illuminate plunderers, who would leave the planet 12 hours later.

Operation Shattered Skies[]

Not even a week after their prior raid of Valmox, the squids would strike again at the crimson planet. And with the Helldivers tasked with safeguarding the evacuation of SEAF troops from Chort Bay after the success of Operation Keough Push, the expectation was that the Illuminate invasion of Valmox on February 6th would succeed. However, to the surprise of many, the Helldivers would manage to quickly reposition the Super Earth Icon Democracy Space Station onto Valmox's orbit and, with the aid of additional Helldivers, the Illuminate aggressors would be successfully driven away....just as their horrid machinations were about to be unveiled.

Operation Wild Hunt[]

It would soon be discovered why the Illuminate were still raiding planets on the Southern Sectors: They were stealing Dark Energy and siphoning into the Orb Icon Meridian Black Hole with the goal of propelling it towards Super Earth itself. As such, the ministry of Science got hard at work devising a solution to the crisis created by the Illuminate. On March 13th, as the Helldivers fought to secure enough resources to construct a blockade around the Singularity, Valmox would be invaded by the Illuminate once more. With the majority of Helldivers away fighting either legions of Automatons or swaths of Terminids, Valmox's defense was doomed and, 12 hours later, the Illuminate would leave the planet, having succeeded in siphoning Dark Energy away from Valmox and into the Meridian Singularity.

Operation Racing Penrose[]

Valmox would be attacked once again a week later, on March 24th, by the Illuminate. However, unlike before, the Helldivers had now been forced to concentrate on the defense against the Illuminate, as now the Singularity had destroyed not just Angel's Venture, but it also had destroyed Moradesh and was well of course to destroy Ivis. With the Singularity slowly approaching Super Earth, the Helldivers would give their all in ensuring that the Penrose Energy Siphon, a device created by the Ministry of Science with the purpose of significantly slowing down the black hole, was completed. Once the invasion force made planetfall on Valmox, the Helldivers would heed its call and, within 8 hours, would masterfully repel the invaders, denying the Illuminate from any more Dark Energy they could have harvested from Valmox.

Operation Vermintide[]

Once the Penrose Energy Syphon was successfully completed and activated, the Singularity would be slowed down enough to guarantee that it would not reach Super Earth, but it would still managed to collide with the other planets remaining in its course. With this in mind, the Ministry of Science began to work on a device intended to stop the Singularity permanently: the Repulsive Gravity Field Generator. As such, the Helldivers would embark on Operation Niflheim, intended to secure the massive amounts of E-710 that the device would require. However, immediately after the success of the operation, a surge of Terminid offensives would strike the Gloom-adjacent planets.

Amidst this Terminid counteroffensive, the Illuminate would continue their planet-hopping campaign throughout the Southern Sectors, with hopes of reigniting the Singularity again. For this purpose, they would send an invasion force towards Valmox on April 16th, hoping to harvest a significant amount of Dark Energy from Valmox. Given the ongoing Terminid offensives, Valmox's defense would not see much Helldiver assistance and the planet would be powerless to stop the Illuminate, who left 12 hours later.

Operation Ashes of Remembrance[]

However, this last invasion would only be but a temporary setback for Valmox as, ever since that final skirmish, the Illuminate would not attack any other colonies in the Southern front. Yet, the Illuminate's absence would only really provide as much, if not more, dread and anguish as their presence once did before. Where the Illuminate had stopped attacking Valmox and the Southern Front, they had now started a desperate blitz of invasions throughout the Altus Sector, aiming to disrupt the Repulsive Gravity Field Generator's completion.

Yet, their attempts proved futile and, on April 29th, the Repulsive Gravity Field Generator would be activated on Pilen V by a heroic group of scientists who would prematurely activate the device in its mostly completed state that, while it successfully stopped the Singularity, would also implode and kill all of the scientists. Their heroic sacrifice would seemingly have paid off in spades as, following the halting of the Meridian Singularity, all Illuminate forces would seemingly abandon the galaxy.

For a total of 2 weeks, the Federation rejoiced and celebrated its victory over the alien tyrants. However, the nefarious Illuminate would soon return, coming out of the Meridian Singularity and bringing with the The Great Host, a massive invasion fleet with its objective now having been revealed to have always been the Illuminate's sinister intentions: The Invasion of Super Earth itself.

On May 20th, the Illuminate would make planetfall on Super Earth and, in the 10 days of battle that followed, tens of millions of Helldivers and countless SEAF troops would give their lives in the defense of the heart of Managed Democracy. But on May 30th, 2185, when the last Illuminate forces on Super Earth were defeated, the Federation would rejoice once again, having triumphed over the Illuminate once more and having successfully defended the home of Freedom itself from their nefarious tentacles.

This victory, however, would not mark the end of Valmox's involvement in the war. Under intergalactic war, Super Earth would soon pursue reparations for the damage sustained during the invasion, immediately aiming at Illuminate settlements discovered by the Ministry of Science in order to collect the owed materials by any and all means.

Valmox had been mostly rebuilt by the time the Illuminate were exposed on their hideouts throughout the Southern Front. The planetary capital of Obedience, as well as the cities of Rebelsgrave and Reformed-by-Truth. As such, High Command had expectations of an Illuminate attack aimed at Valmox and New Stockholm. As such, during Operation Ashes of Remembrance, Valmox would be designated as a high priority target that had to be held by the Helldivers at any cost.

Valmox would not be attacked itself during the operation, however Afoyay Bay, which had connected itself with Valmox as part of the region's larger effort to re-establish the FTL network that had been destroyed during the early Illuminate invasions, would fall, leaving Valmox open to an attack.

Operation Culling Nightmares[]

Valmox would fall under Illuminate Icon Illuminate during the major operation of gathering video material to put Federation Citizens at ease after the recent events. The first Illuminate ships arrived on afternoon of July 27th in massive numbers. Planet would eventually fall two days later.

However, the defense of the world was used to fulfill the hunting quota for Leviathans, where Helldivers Companion Helldivers ingenuity shown a set of varied techniques to bring down those abominations.

Trivia[]

  • VALMOX, short for Validation of Nuclear Data for High Burn-up MOX Fuels, is a research project focused on improving the accuracy of nuclear data used in the design and operation of nuclear reactors, particularly those using MOX (mixed-oxide) fuel.
  • Assuming that the names of Valmox's three cities -- Rebelsgrave, Reformed-by-Truth and Obedience -- is not coincidental, then the planet may have a history of rebellion or was initially established as a penal colony for dissidents before eventually transitioning to a free planet - similar to Australia.
