~ Official Description |
Turing is one of the four planets that reside in the Umlaut Sector. Its general landscape consists of heavy forests and rocky plateaus, with occasional large lakes. The planet is also home to the Galaxy's leading Xenoentomology Center, where Super Earth's leading Terminid experts and FTL engineers from across the galaxy converge to begin development of High-Efficiency Alcubiere Drives.
Topography[ | ]
Turing is characterized by its vibrant, colorful plant life. Much of the planet's surface is covered in purplish grasses, which release large amounts of pollen into the air. Its trees are divided between taller purple varieties and shorter red varieties. Citizens are reminded that recreational photography is restricted on the Barrier Planets, as of Statue C-30817.
History[ | ]
Special Military Operations[ | ]
Deployment of the Terminid Control System[ | ]
Turing was briefly a frontline planet from the 14th of February to the 23rd. A Terminid outbreak occurred in the area on March 6th, causing fighting to resume until the 14th of March. Fighting ended with the establishment of the Terminid Control System on the planet. Turing was not considered a strategically important world at this point, allowing the fascist Terminid pest on her surface to persist unchecked for far too long.
Failure of the Terminid Control System[ | ]
On April 29th, Operation Legitimate Undertaking was interrupted by massive Terminid outbreaks in the Umlaut sector, including on Turing. A malfunction in the TCS allowed the bugs to reproduce at a much higher rate, turning the neighboring planet Meridia into a Supercolony. The Helldivers were quickly deployed to deactivate the TCS throughout the Umlaut Sector. On May 3rd, the TCS on Turing was shut down, preventing it from meeting the same tragic fate as Meridia. However, its close proximity to the Supercolony left it at constant risk of assault.
Second Galactic War[ | ]
On May 21, 2184, after the declaration of the Second Galactic War, the Terminids launched another brutal assault against Turing. The Helldivers were dispatched here and heroically routed the enemy by day's end. On May 24th, another assault was launched. Unfortunately, with Helldivers' attention being split between Varylia 5 and Angel's Venture, local defense forces were overrun by the tyrannical bugs, who quickly re-occupied the planet. The very next day, Operation Enduring Peace was announced to retake Turing and establish a foothold toward liberating Meridia.
Operation Enduring Peace[ | ]
To properly deal with Meridia, the SEAF retook and defended Turing, along with Angel's Venture and Fenrir III. On June 1st, with progress on destroying Meridia well underway, the Terminids launched an opportunistic strike on Turing. The Defense of Turing began on June 1st, with ~10,000 Helldivers being dispatched here, and another ~3,500 fighting on nearby Acamar IV. Though the Terminids' tyrannical methods allowed them to gain the upper hand, the USAF was able to control the planet for long enough to provide a temporary foothold toward Meridia. Operation Enduring Peace came to an end with the collapse of Meridia into a black hole using Dark Fluid technology.
Operation Destiny Manifested[ | ]
With the Meridia Supercolony being permanently destroyed, the SEAF was ordered to take back nearby contested planets: Turing, Erata Prime, Acamar IV, and Phact Bay. Turing was the first planet to be liberated in this successful operation, allowing Super Earth citizens to finally resettle the lands they had been forced to abandon.
Operation Glorious Xenocide[ | ]
Turing was briefly attacked on July 21st. The Helldivers held the line valiantly and turned the Terminid assault around, now forcing them back to Acamar IV and then, on July 23rd, back to Gacrux.
Operation Alcubierre-II[ | ]
Following the last assault onto Turing, it spent the rest of the summer of 2184 in relative peace, as the Terminids shifted focus towards the rest of the Jin Xi Sector. With the apparition of the Gloom, most threats to Turing's security were gone, as the planets within the Gloom that could have posed a threat seemingly stopped attacking its neighbors. However, the threat at Gacrux still remained. After Acamar IV fell on September 25th, Turing would immediately be attacked by the Terminids, just as Super Earth ordered the construction of a new Xenoentomology Center on the planet.
As such, the Helldivers were ordered to defend and hold Turing while construction was underway, as this new center would help make the Alcubierre Warp Drive of the Super Destroyers more efficient in its E-710 consumption. As such, the Helldivers deployed en masse once more onto the planet, holding the line from September 27th to September 29th, successfully driving back the insectoid menace.
Turing would be successfully defended on September 26th. However, due to its newly found relevance in relation to the Democracy Space Station, the Terminids would make huge efforts to invade the planet in order to impede the construction of the Xenoentomology Center. After they amassed their forces following their defeat at Achird III, the Terminids would launch a second final assault from Acamar IV once more on October 2nd. However, this time, the Helldivers would not only successfully rally at Turing and deliver a crippling blow to the fascist bugs, but they would also wind up liberating Acamar IV, cutting off a nearby source of terminid spores and setting up a defensive perimeter around the planet that, for the moment, safeguards the planet and its new xenoentomology center.
Meanwhile the other side of the galaxy, the Automatons attempted to capitalize on our noble scientific efforts by assaulting Mastia intending to cut off the DSS Logistics Hub from the DSS itself. But the Helldivers quickly organized a daring counterattack, saving Mastia and liberating Shelt in the process.
Thanks to these valiant efforts, ground has been broken on the new Xenoentomology Center on Turing. Super Earth's leading Terminid experts and FTL engineers from across the galaxy have converged on the planet to begin development of High-Efficiency Alcubiere Drives. These new drives will enable the Democracy Space Station to warp between planets at the Helldivers' direction, dispensing Freedom wherever it is needed. Research and development of this new technology will take weeks, during which time the center must remain safe from Terminid infestation, or our research progress will be lost. Thanks to the valiant efforts of the Helldivers, all of humanity will soon step forward into a more prosperous, energy efficient, and peaceful future.

Trivia[ | ]
- Turing is named in reference to mathematician and computer scientist Alan Turing who developed the Turing Test which is a test of a machine's ability to exhibit intelligent behaviour equivalent to, or indistinguishable from, that of a human.
