~ Official Description |
Terrek is one of the seven planets that reside within the Orion Sector.
Topography[]
Similar to Fenrir III, Curia, and Claorell.
History[]
Second Galactic War[]
Operation Courageous Exodus[]
Terrek was, up until November 2184, completely detached from the rest of the Orion Sector, its FTL Lines having been cut during the initial Terminid Outbreak of 2184 in order to prevent farther infestation. Ever since, it had remained disconnected alongside its neighbor Azterra, as the war came and went from their sector between the initial outbreak, the Supercolony Crisis and the apparition of The Gloom.
However, Terrek was unable to completely subsist on its own. Given its barren, lunar conditions and constant meteor showers, it was a matter of time before it ran out of supplies, as its greenhouse farms could not sustain long-term population growth for the colonies.
As such, on November 6th, 2184, it reconnected itself into the FTL Network, restoring its FTL Line to Azterra, as well as connecting itself with Cirrus and Bore Rock. Unfortunately, this move would come at a very poor time, as the Terminids had begun an offensive aided by a spore surge coming right out of the Gloom.
With the Democracy Space Station nearing completion, Terrek was chosen as one of three processing sites from which colonists displaced from their homeworlds by the Gloom would then be relocated into the DSS as its permanent staff. Given this situation, Terrek, alongside with Cirrus and Angel's Venture, were designated as protection targets for the Major Order.
Luckily, the Helldivers' usual brilliance was on display in a magnificent show of perseverance and grit, as the Terminids never made it to any of the 3 Major Order targets. The Terminids attempted to spread to Bore Rock in a last-ditch attempt to make it to Terrek, but were repelled despite sending a force of 20 million broods to the swampy world. Bore Rock stood, as did Terrek. And with that, so did freedom.
Operation Crop Dust[]
The Terminids' pathetic failure to reach any of the designated Major Order targets was indicative of the Helldivers' continued brilliance against the Terminid plague. In particular, the stunning double defense of Estanu and Crimsica was so valiant that citizens on both planets launched massive celebrations at the level of heroism displayed by the Helldivers once more.
Terrek went on peacefully, its citizens deploying to help staff the DSS, helping forge ahead Super Earth's superiority in military firepower. However, Terrek wouldn't be fully free from the Terminid scourge, as the bugs attempted another assault on Bore Rock during Operation Iron Rain in late November, and this time were successful in capturing the planet.
This time, Terrek was now under imminent danger with the bugs directly on their doorstep. Sure enough, Terrek's longstanding peace was soon to end. Following the end of Operation Jetclipper in which the Helldivers failed to liberate Choohe from the Automatons, the Terminids at Bore Rock sent a brazen attack onto the lonely moon, as a staggering 29 million broods arrived on the surface of the world. Immediately, Terrek called upon the Helldivers for aid, and the Corps heeded the call as they immediately descended onto the planet to stop the infestation.
Luckily, Terrek's decision to expand its FTL network with Cirrus, Bore Rock, and Azterra provided the planet with an abundance of supplies as the colonial overseers fortified its defenses enough to the point where the planet could hold for 48 hours before its fortifications broke. As such, the Helldivers immediately deployed to the world en masse and quickly gained an advantage on the ground, on course for yet another victory.
With High Command issuing an Order shortly after the attack on Terrek calling for the liberation of Bore Rock along with Esker, Blistica, and Mintoria, the Helldivers accelerated their efforts on the planet, and after over a day of fighting, the Terminids were handily driven back, securing freedom once more for the planet in an impressive display of cooperation and perseverance.
Interim (Jan. 9, 2185)[]
Terrek's cold and rocky peaks went on without incident, free of orbital bombardment and Terminid hive construction for the next month. In this timeframe, the Helldivers' attention was forced to divert to the South as the dreaded Illuminate made a shocking return to the galaxy on Calypso. With Illuminate raids continuous and persistent, the Helldivers were constantly forced to repel their attacks, knowing that although the Illuminate did not intend to capture planets, their very presence in the galaxy was a danger to everyone on Super Earth.
At the beginning of January 2185, High Command shifted Helldiver attention back to the West to liberate Mastia, which would be the site of a new Centre for Civilian Surveillance and Safety to protect Super Earth's citizens from Illuminate mind control. Following these successful efforts, High Command wouldn't issue an Order for over 48 hours in a brief period of relative quiet on the war front. Of course, the Terminids are ever restless in spreading their plague onto our peaceful worlds.
In the early afternoon on January 9, 2185, amidst an ongoing Automaton attack on Matar Bay that seemed like an imminent Helldiver defeat, the Terminids began an attack on Terrek at the exact moment the Helldivers completed the liberation of Acamar IV. Immediately, the main Helldiver fleet began to turn up to Terrek, seeking to repel what was becoming heavily defended territory against the Terminid infestation. With the main Corps turning up to Terrek, early projections looked good for the planet, and Matar Bay was left to its own devices against its own robot invasion fleet.
After around just 15 hours of fighting, the Terminids were swiftly repelled from Terrek, as the planet continued its successful streak against the malevolent bug threat once more.
Operation Impending Gloom[]
While the rest of the Terminid front exploded into conflict amidst Operation Farsight Breach, Terrek luckily was spared from the massive Terminid outbreak, watching on as the bug plague came ashore on its neighbor, Cirrus.
Fortunately, High Command spotted an opportunity to counter the continuous Gloom-driven outbreaks as they issued an Order calling for massive Helldiver sample collection efforts across Erata Prime and Gacrux, while also holding the Centre of Science on Fenrir III from any attacks.
With a massive Helldiver presence on Terminid-controlled worlds, the Corps impressively completed the sample collection on both Erata and Gacrux in swift fashion, with High Command praising the fervor the Helldivers had shown during the Operation. Though the Operation was nearly complete with Fenrir safe for now, there was still a significant Helldiver presence in the East, with most engaging in Operations to liberate Erata Prime. However, the Terminids always seem to have an invasion or two up their sleeve, with a seemingly particular distaste for Terrek.
On an average afternoon in the Galactic War, the Terminids launched an assault on Terrek in tandem with a more powerful assault on Phact Bay. Immediately, the Helldivers seemingly agreed to deploy en masse to Terrek's smaller attack, leaving Phact Bay's defense to its own devices.
Luckily, with Terrek already heavily defended, the Helldivers weren't intent on losing Terrek this time either. With the massive Helldiver presence on the world, the attack was crushed staggeringly fast after less than 14 hours of fighting. Once again, Terrek stood as a massive beacon of freedom in the East.
Operation Good Samaritan[]
Terrek's last defense granted it freedom for the next month as the planet enjoyed finally being away from the limelight. In this time, significant progress was being made against the Terminids, as the Helldivers finally made their first foray into the previously impenetrable Gloom on Fori Prime. The Helldivers were successful in fully researching the planet amidst extreme levels of bloody battling against mutated Terminid strains, marking a massive scientific achievement in the War.
Alas, the enemies of Super Earth revolt against such brilliance by the Federation. The Terminids began a massive assault on Grand Errant, with the main Corps attempting to repel the significant attack on the hellish landscape. Then, hours after the Terminid attack began, the Automatons launched a massive, brazen attack on multiple worlds in the West. Amidst the ongoing Terminid offensive, High Command finally chose to prioritize the situation out West and called for the Helldivers to defend Julheim and Duma Tyr from the powerful Automaton attacks.
Of course, somehow, Terrek once again was targeted by the Terminids. With the Helldivers attempting to re-take the just-fallen Charon Prime to the Automatons, the Terminids launched yet another attack on Terrek amidst the brief pause in bot attacks. Nearly a third of the Corps immediately turned up to Terrek, seeking to keep the streak of successful defenses alive.
Initially, the Helldivers kept decent pace with the Terminids during the attack, with the race too close to call early on. However, the Helldiver fleet present on the world was forced to abandon the planet as the Automatons launched yet another brazen, massive assault on Bekvam III. The Helldivers immediately deployed en masse to Bekvam despite the initial odds of defending the planet looking unlikely.
Now, Terrek's streak was at serious risk of staying alive, and by the next day, the defense of the planet began to look increasingly bleak. However, the might of liberty shines through in some truly unspeakable ways.
In one of the most bizarre events of the War to date, both the Terminids and the Automatons would suddenly see their defenses collapse, leading to a massive rise in liberation and defense progress across the galaxy. Inexplicably, Terrek, which seemed to be a lost cause, now showed a new projection: the Helldivers were on course for a stunning victory.
Amazingly, it came true. Both Bekvam and Terrek would be defended, almost as if the Automatons and Terminids knew who the righteous truly were: the Helldivers. Grateful as ever, amidst bizarre circumstances, Terrek's colonists rejoiced at once again repelling the Terminids, keeping the streak alive once again.
Operation Vermintide[]
Terrek's good fortune lasted the course for the next two months. With the Automatons and Terminids handily defeated, both enemy factions along with the Illuminate would be seemingly displeased at their latest pathetic defeat, seeking revenge for their obvious shortcomings. The war seemingly passed Terrek on, with most Helldiver attention in March dedicated to the Western Theater as the Automatons launched a massive attack on the Federation led by the new Incineration Corps. On the whole, the Helldivers were unsuccessful as the Automatons stomped through planet after planet, and with the situation in the West rapidly deteriorating, the SEAF had to dedicate massive amounts of resources to stabilize the situation.
As the line eventually stabilized deep into Federation space, the Helldivers finally turned their attention back to the East as they made their second foray into The Gloom on Nivel 43. Once again successful, High Command finally launched their final plan to stop the Meridian Singularity in its tracks thanks to the massive E-710 collected during the Order, with all looking bright on the Eastern Front... at least briefly.
On April 16, hours after the liberation of Nivel 43, the Terminids plotted their next evil spread of fascism. A sudden, massive outbreak of the Predator Strain began across Esker, Crimsica, and Fenrir III. Immediately, High Command issued the call for the Helldivers to deploy across the East to repel the ongoing Terminid attacks.
Though the Helldivers defended both Crimsica and Fenrir III thanks to the DSS's Eagle Storm, Esker was largely left to its own devices and fell by the next day. A few hours later, Achernar Secundus would come under attack. Following that, Terrek's northern neighbor, Bore Rock once again came under assault from Esker along with a later attack on Acamar IV. With the Helldivers mobilizing to Achernar to protect the Factory Hub, Bore Rock and Acamar were largely left to their own devices and fell by the next day.
With the Predator Strain rapidly advancing, the line had to stabilize. Luckily, Terrek may very well have been where the line began to stabilize against the Terminid breakwater.
Just moments after the fall of Bore Rock, the Terminids launched a dual assault on Terrek and Erata Prime from the swampy world. Once again, with Terrek under the limelight, the Helldivers deployed to the defense of the world, with far less dispatched to Erata.
However, High Command spotted an opportunity for a counterattack. With the Heavy Ordnance Distribution booster from the DSS almost ready, High Command immediately put out a dispatch calling for the Helldivers to liberate Bore Rock, thus ending the attacks on Erata and Terrek. Immediately, the Helldivers heeded the call, with the majority of the Corps arriving on the swampy world to attempt a successful gambit.
Luckily, spurred by the liberation boost provided by the extra orbital bombardments from the DSS, Bore Rock was liberated, ending the attacks upon Terrek and Erata Prime. The streak continued for Terrek, as the heavily defended planet once again rejoiced in jubilant victory.
Operation Damage Control[]
The resounding success seen on the Terminid Front during Operation Vermintide granted the Helldivers a major moral boost amidst the numerous defeats in SEAF West. The Helldivers sought to carry that moral boost forward, as the war turned its attention to repelling the seemingly neglected Illuminate as they launched attack after attack across the Federation's critical infrastructure.
Following Helldiver operations on all emerging Illuminate battlefronts along with the liberation of Turing, the Illuminate would strangely and abruptly disappear from the galaxy. Having dealt significant damage to all of the Federation's crucial Centres, the Illuminate raids caused the Terminids and Automatons to capture formerly well-defended territory on Achernar Secundus, Mastia, and Claorell. The Helldivers were thus ordered to take back these critical planets while also holding Fenrir III and Turing.
The liberation efforts on both Achernar and Mastia mostly went off without a hitch. However, on May 1, the Terminids and the Automatons were looking to cause strife for the Helldivers once more. Bore Rock, which was once again captured by the Terminids just minutes before, immediately began yet another assault on Terrek. Once again, leading the charge was the same Predator Strain rampaging Terrek's surface a couple of weeks prior.
With Terrek not a main focus of the Operation, a sizable yet not massive Helldiver fleet turned up to the planet, ready to keep the streak alive on the battle-hardened world. However, a crisis of immense magnitude was about to unfold out West that would leave a ripple effect for Terrek. Just moments after the attack on Terrek, a rebuilt Automaton Incineration Corps resurfaced on the bot-controlled planet, Penta. The Corps would then move to Lesath and, using it as a pivot, began a dual assault on Vernen Wells and Vog-Sojoth. Then, a third division of the Incineration Corps had moved from Lesath to Gaellivare and began to attack the southern flank of Claorell, Imber.
The attacks on Vog-Sojoth and Imber spelled disaster, as the Automatons were essentially attempting a gambit to cut off the Helldiver fleet on Claorell and thus end their liberation efforts on the planet. In a massive blunder, the Helldivers essentially ceded Imber and Vog-Sojoth despite having the DSS Eagle Storm active to potentially stop enemy progress in either campaign. Both planets fell, and the Helldivers' efforts on Claorell had officially stopped and they were forced to retreat in an extremely poor defeat.
Amidst the disaster out West which likely caused the failure of the Major Order, Terrek's defenses were far too undermanned and collapsed a day after the Terminids began their assault. Finally, after 5 successful defenses in a row, number #6 proved a step too far for a bruised SEAF, with morale now running low after the disaster caused by the Automatons.
After Terrek's defenses collapsed, the planet would get caught up in a stalemate of sorts with the Helldivers' presence constant enough on the planet to delay the Terminids from completely taking over the planet immediately. As such, the Predator Strain wouldn't hesitate to continue their infestation across the Federation. On the morning of May 3, around 14 hours after Terrek's fall, the Terminids began a dual assault from the planet on the previously untouched Azterra and the previously liberated Cirrus.
Ultimately, despite the increasing urgency needed on both fronts with enemy aggression unrelenting in the past month, the Helldivers were far too split to make a proper push. A significant contingent of Helldivers (20%) remained on Terrek, seemingly wanting to attempt a gambit to end both the attacks on Azterra and Cirrus. However, other contingencies were split between Azterra (15%) and Cirrus (8%) for most of the campaign, causing progress to be too split across all 3 planets to truly be successful anywhere. Coupled with the unresolved disaster out West in which the Helldivers couldn't even liberate the staunch-Automaton resistance on Imber to make it back to Claorell, the Operation was crashing, and quickly. With Azterra and Cirrus looking certain to fall, Terrek was about to prepare for a situation it was truly not expecting- being under full Terminid Control without access to the Federation's FTL network, which would end any chances of liberation on the planet for good.
On the morning of May 4, Azterra and Cirrus had fallen to the Terminids, locking away Terrek from the light of liberty it had enjoyed for so long.
Battle of Super Earth - Aftermath[]
Terrek would remain under Terminid control for the rest of May. As the war progressed, its situation would change little due to a crisis that the Federation had to manage: The Illuminate. Throughout the month of May, the Helldivers had to devote their attention exclusively to repelling the squids, which allowed both the Terminids and Automatons to advance without any halting and pretty much doomed Terrek to what looked to be perpetual tyranny, a prospect that only gained a greater appearance of likelihood once The Great Host of the Illuminate came out of the Meridian Wormhole and launched an invasion of Super Earth.
However, while the majority of the Helldiver Corps and
S.E.A.F. were concentrated at the defense of Super Earth, a small straggler force of Helldiver decided to carry on their campaigns at Terrek for unknown reasons. However, it wouldn't be until May 30th, with the victory over the Illuminate at Super Earth, that Terrek would see its chance to finally get away from the vicious grip of the fascist bugs.
The Helldivers would split their forces evenly from Super Earth and deployed the newly repaired Democracy Space Station on Terrek, using its new Eagle Blockade to purge every last insectoid on its surface. By June 1st, the Helldivers had liberated Terrek once more, then proceeding towards Gaellivare in hopes of expunging the Automaton advance in the Talus Sector.
