Fully upgraded MG-105 Stalwart

"The MG-105 is a light machinegun filling the role of fire support without being as heavy as an MG-94. Due to its lighter weight, the initial spread is quite wide, but the weapon is easily controlled once the user settles into the recoil. The MG-105 is part of the Demolitionist equipment kit."
- Armory Description

Unlock Requirement[ | ]

The MG-105 Stalwart is part of the Demolitionist Pack and is automatically unlocked by purchasing the respective DLC.

Upgrades[ | ]

Upgrade Requirements Cost Effect
Upgrade Recoil Absorber Recoil Absorber Research-point 1 Increases the weapon's stability when firing in full auto.
Upgrade Extended Magazine Extended Magazine Recoil Absorber Research-point 2 Increases the number of rounds in the magazine from 75 to 150.

Recoil Absorber

  • A heavy muzzle brake is attached to the barrel of the gun, directing the escaping gases in such a way that it compensates for a larger portion of the recoil.

Extended Magazine

  • Increases the number of rounds in the magazine from 75 to 150. The maximum number of spare magazines that can be carried remains unchanged.

Weapon Stats[ | ]

  • Helldivers start missions with 4 drums of ammunition and can carry up to a maximum of 8. Each magazine contains 75 rounds by default (150 with the Extended Magazine upgrade). If the weapon is fired with less than 15 rounds remaining in the magazine, a 'low ammunition' warning sound will play and red tracer rounds will fire.
  • The Stalwart takes 3.5 seconds to reload when empty and 3 seconds with ammunition left in the magazine. Performing a tactical reload with ammo left in the magazine keeps a round in the chamber as well, giving the Stalwart with the Extended Magazine upgrade a maximum of 151 shots before needing to be reloaded again.

Gameplay Tips[ | ]

  • The Stalwart's primary selling point is its massive upgraded magazine capacity and reserve ammo pool when compared to every other (non-vehicle) weapon in the game, along with its pinpoint accuracy with sustained fire. With a staggering 1200 rounds in reserve and 150 in the magazine with the Extended Magazines upgrade, few other ballistic weapons can put out as much lead between resupplies as the MG-105 and maintain nearly the same accuracy. This is counterbalanced by lengthy reloads, atrocious starting accuracy, and a necessary 'spool up' time to achieve minimum spread.
  • The Stalwart becomes more accurate the longer the trigger is held down for, unlike almost every other infantry weapon in the game. It can achieve near pinpoint accuracy after firing continuously for 1 second and briefly maintain maximum accuracy for 0.5 seconds after firing before it begins to spray inaccurately again. Use this brief pause to quickly switch between targets at range to minimize wasted shots.
  • The initial inaccuracy of the Stalwart can turn it into a poor man's shotgun if applied correctly; firing single shots at a steady pace can saturate an area with enough spread fire to soften up patrols or outright kill weak enemies such as Initiates, Scouts, Vanguards, and Observers as they approach. This has the added benefit of partially spooling the gun's unique accuracy mechanic, allowing maximum accuracy to be achieved earlier to take down patrols if they get too close to your team.
  • While a solid alternative starting weapon to the AR-19 Liberator, some may feel the Stalwart's usefulness can drop off on higher difficulties due to its fairly wide initial bullet spread and lack of an armor-piercing or DPS-increasing upgrade. Both of these factors decrease the solo Helldiver's odds of eliminating enemy patrols before they have time to raise the alarm unless the user is quick to react and familiar with the weapon's quirks.

Notes[ | ]

  • The Stalwart is based on the L85A2 and L86A1 LSW variants of the British SA80, a family of bullpup rifles chambered in 5.56x45 NATO. It has the overall size and shape of the L85A2 while having most of the features of its LMG variant.
  • The Stalwart is one of only three weapons in the game to become more accurate with sustained fire, the other being the MG-94 and the MGX-42.
