Shrieker Nests are a secondary mission objective found in every Challenging+ Helldiver operation within the Terminid front. The size of the nests will always be the same regardless of the difficulty, and these nests will continue to spawn large amounts of Shriekers until destroyed.

Shrieker Nests are a particularly dangerous sight as they spawn waves of Shriekers; winged Terminid warriors that swoop down from the skies to perform hit-and-run attacks against Helldivers on the ground.

Identifying[]

Appearance wise, Shrieker nests look like three smaller spore spewers in a triangular formation and from a distance and up close will emit a bioluminescent yellow glow. Making target acquisition easy even in combat zones with high fog or spore density. However on planets that are more rocky or full of visual blockers, it may be hard to identify the nests.

Shrieker nests come in two types. Risen and Divot. Risen nests are elevated onto a oily rocky platform that all Terminid structures use, Divots are similar to regular nests and will be sunk into the ground with small Terminid walls around its perimeter.

Risen are easier to deal with, mainly due to if a Helldiver is without long range equipment, then the elevation would buy time for a hellbomb to be activated. Divots however, are harder due to enemy accessing the Hellbomb easier.

Strategy[]

  • The nests have a detection range of 130m and will not deploy Shriekers if there are no Helldivers within this range. The safest method to destroy them is by using long-distance explosive weapons, bombarding them from long range until all 3 nests are destroyed.
  • All but two of the anti-tank launchers can destroy each nest dwelling with one shot, making them the best at quickly taking out nest groups.
    • The MLS-4X Commando requires two shots per nest.
    • The StA-X3 W.A.S.P. Launcher requires four shots per nest.
    • The Emancipator Exosuit is also a decent candidate as its autocannons can tear down nests after multiple hits.
    • The AC-8 Autocannon is capable of destroying Shrieker nests from any distance though it will take 9-10 shots.
    • If all else fails, the nests are also vulnerable to being destroyed with conventional small arms through concentrated fire due to its lack of armor. This is best done using a machine gun, as the nests' high HP means it will take several dozen, to a hundred shots, to destroy.
  • Stratagems such as the Eagle Airstrike, Orbital Laser Strike, or Orbital Barrages can also make short work of them in close proximity. A runner can be assigned to deliver the stratagem while the remaining teammates provide cover.
  • A Hellbomb can also be deployed to destroy all three nests at the same time if placed near the center. This is a risky method, as Shriekers can continuously spawn en masse and overwhelm any potential Helldivers in the vicinity. Not to mention any possible infantry reinforcements swarming the area.
    • The nest is considered a solid object, which may result in the hellpod containing the Hellbomb payload to dangle in mid-air, as it emedded itself in the nest. For optimal results, deploy it in a location with no vertical obstructions.
