A modified Diligence rifle offering increased damage at the cost of some manoeuvrability. Fires a single bullet at a time
~ Armory Description

The R-63CS Diligence Counter Sniper is a version of the R-63 Diligence, modified for sniper duties. This variant trades the versatility of the original platform, for increased power and precision.

It is unlocked upon reaching the seventh page of the standard war bonds.

Role:[]

Compared to it's cousin, the R-63CS is more effective at it's role as a marksman weapon, thanks to it's higher damage and medium armor penetration, albeit at the cost of lower ammunition per magazine and higher recoil. It also uses a different scope, it uses a longer-range optic, similar to the one found on the APW-1 Anti-Materiel Rifle, giving it further magnification and a more relatively precise reticle to work with.

While still excelling against Automatons thanks to it's medium armor pen (which can now engage Automaton Scout Striders and Gunships), it also sees decent use against the Illuminate, as it's now capable of reliably killing Overseers with headshots.

It is still not an optimal weapon against Terminids, but it's higher armor pen does allow it to reliably engage Bile Spewers, Brood Commanders, and Hive Guards when shooting their heads. It's high damage also allows it to kill the chaff units of all races within two shots, making it fairly adept at cleaning up small patrols.

Notes[]

  • Despite the armory description saying it has a reduced rate of fire it is listed as having the same rate of fire as the normal Diligence.
    • According to the stats the main differences are damage, ammo capacity and recoil
  • A major difference NOT listed on the stats between the R-63 and R-63CS is the "drag" of the scope. The R-63CS, much like the Anti-Materiel Rifle, has scope "drag," where moving your scope around quickly requires you to wait a brief moment before the scope is actually aligned with your target. The R-63's "drag" is almost nonexistent and allows for quick consecutive shots from target to target, but with the RC-63CS this is much harder to pull off.
  • To ease in swapping between close and long-range combat, the R-63DS benefits heavily from switching from first to third-person view when the situation require it, as it's precision still allows it to easily hit targets at close-to-mid range, even without the aid of the sniper scope.

Trivia[]

  • A "Counter Sniper" is a marksman who's primary role is searching for, and eliminating, enemy snipers. The R-63CS being modified to defeat armor and engage from a longer distance than usual, fulfills it's namesake.
