The R-2124 Constitution is a bolt-action rifle given to all citizens of Super Earth on their 16th birthday.

It was authorized for deployment on Helldiver Corps missions on Liberty Day 2184 (October 26), in standard black/yellow livery, and fitted with a standard bayonet.

Role:

The Constitution fills an unusual niche, being a marksman rifle with improved melee combat capability.

The rifle's performance generally suffers from its low magazine capacity and lack of optics, despite damage falling between the R-63 Diligence and R-63CS Diligence Counter Sniper. While it carries a comparable load of ammunition, it is strictly a per-round reload, with no stripper clips available to quickly top off. It also lacks optics and attachments available to other weapons, limiting ability to acquire targets.

The mounted bayonet replaces the buttstock strike used as a melee attack with other primary weapons. The Constitution gives Helldivers some well-appreciated standoff in close combat, with no stamina drain.

Both the rifle round and bayonet provides Medium (3) armor penetration, with comparable durable damage (50 per round, 55 per thrust).

Overall, the Diligence variants remain superior options except when challenging oneself to melee combat.

Trivia

• Like the M2016 Constitution before it, the R-2124 Constitution is based on the M1903A3 Springfield rifle.
• The Constitution is the first primary weapon with a dedicated melee attack. The CQC-19 Stun Lance and CQC-30 Stun Baton secondary weapons would follow later, with the R-2 Amendment following the range-melee hybrid linage.
• The Peak Physique armor trait provides a damage to the bayonet's melee attack, as well as the overall handling of the weapon. The extra melee damage proves useful against Hunters and Warriors.
