Operation Farsight Breach[]
Pherkad Secundus was an insconspicuous frontier colony of Super Earth, far off in the Eastern Galactic Rim on the edge before deep space. Following its colonization after the end of the First Galactic War, not many events worthy of note would take place. However, things soon changed. During the initial Terminid outbreak in February 2184, the colonial overseers in the Farsight Sector immediately moved to cut all FTL Lines leading into the nearby Sten Sector in hopes of preventing the spread of the infestation. This strategy worked out well and the Farsight Sector would be spared from most of the horrors that followed since, watching idly by as Gatria fended off the waves of Terminids during and after the Supercolony Crisis.
Gatria and Gar Haren would stand for months as the stalwart barrier against the Terminids, preventing their further expansion in the Eastern Front. However, with the apparition of the Gloom, the Terminids would slowly begin increasing their adaptability and aggressiveness tremendously. After the Democracy Space Station was finished, the Terminids would break out of the Terminid Research Preserve at Acamar IV and overwhelmed the Jin Xi sector, which slowly began to crack Gatria's and Gar Haren's defenses until a sudden event at the end of 2184 finally managed to break them: The return of the Illuminate on Calypso.
With the apparition of the Illuminate, the SEAF was forced to withdraw from Gatria amidst a Terminid onslaught that ultimately allowed the planet to fall, which also caused Gar Haren's fall soon after. For weeks, the Helldivers made their best attempts to recapture the lost planets in order to attempt another containment against the Terminids, but due to ongoing operations against the Illuminate raids in the south and the slowly expanding Automatons in the west, these efforts amounted to no gains and only allowed the Terminids to keep amassing their forces until, on January 10th, 2185, a sudden increase of spore outbursts from the Gloom would aggressively accelerate the bug's expansion. However, unlike previous outbursts, the bugs would instead turn south and immediately jumped from Gar Haren and Gatria to Grand Errant and Pherkad.
High Command immediately issued a containment order in order to prevent further Terminid outbreaks. The Helldivers would mostly concentrate on Grand Errant, leaving Pherkad underdefended, which ultimately caused its fall into Terminid control by the next day.
