The Orbital Precision Strike is an Offensive Stratagem, that fires a single but powerful cannon shell at the location of the Beacon. It is the first Stratagem the player receives via Tutorial mission.
Despite its relatively small range, the powerful shot has massive demolition and penetration power, making it a must for fresh Helldivers when faced with heavy armor or any enemy structure.
Tactics[]
- The Orbital Precision Strike has a short call-in time. With no map-wide stratagem time penalties and full Super Destroyer cooldown reduction upgrades, the OPS' cooldown can be reduced down from 90 seconds to 77 seconds.
- The Precision Strike is the equivalent to a direct hit from a 380mm HE strike, and will destroy almost any enemy ground unit with a single, direct hit. Its AoE also allows it to easily eliminate patrols of light and medium-armored enemies.
- It can also destroy most enemy structures with a direct hit, like Spore Spewers and Detector Towers.
- In the proper hands, and with the correct setup, the OPS can be a devastating tool to have even in higher difficulties, due to its high power and low cooldown.
- Despite its power, the shell might bounce off enemy armored units or structures if it strikes it under a shallow angle[1]. Particularly unlucky helldivers might find themselves on the path of bounced projectile.
- Throwing your Orbital Precision Strike ahead on where the enemies will go is key to making the most of it. Timing is also crucial due to the call down time.
- To guarantee kills, use Stratagems or weapons with stuns such as the Orbital EMS Strike or G-23 Stun to immobilize the enemies.
