Squelching mud, twisting roots; the odour of rot and anarchy. A teeming, endless morass.
~ Official Description

Nublaria I is one of the six planets in the Celeste Sector. It is one of the few planets to have seen action in the First Galactic War.

Topography[]

Similar to Socorro III and Tarsh.

History[]

First Galactic War[]

Battle of Nublaria[]

Not much is known about how the Nublaria system got caught up in the First Galactic War. The only available record regarding its presence is made in the official description for the PH-9 Predator Light Armor.

According to the armor's description, a soldier (possibly a Helldiver) by the callsign of Jackle 6, a veteran of the Viper Commandos, held off an entire brood of Terminids using nothing but a machine gun, a pocket knife and Orbital Laser Strikes.

Judging by the state of peace, freedom and democracy in the planet prior to 2185, it can be safely said that Jackle 6's actions that day gave Super Earth a peerless, unmatched victory over the Bugs.

While to this day it has remained a peaceful planet colony, it has seen the fascist shadow of the Terminids loom upon it on two occasions during the Second Galactic War, first being when the Terminids made a desperate attempt to infest Moradesh through Cirrus. The bugs tried hard, and got so far as to overwhelm the defenses at Cirrus, but in the end, their vain attempts wouldn't even matter, as a day later, the Helldivers heroically destroyed the Meridian Supercolony during Operation Enduring Peace, immediately collapsing their offensive in Cirrus and allowing the Celeste Sector to breath a sigh of relief.

The second occasion took place on January 14th, 2185, when the Terminids invaded Moradesh and through it, showed their nefarious presence in the Celeste Sector for the first time in the Second Galactic War. However, once the Terminid Onslaught on Moradesh was repelled, the Terminids would be sent back into their own territory, safeguarding the Celeste Sector once more.

Second Galactic War[]

However, it seems as if Nublaria's fate was not to remain untouched. Following the tragic destruction of Angel's Venture on February 13th, 2185, Nublaria I would be confirmed to be on the trajectory between the Meridian Singularity and Super Earth. If the Singularity is not halted, Nublaria I is estimated to meet the same fate as Angel's Venture within roughly a month, on March 31st, 2185.

Fortunately the thanks to the deployment of the Penrose Siphon, the singularity would be greatly slowed down, buying Nublaria I several extra months.

Halting of the Singularity[]

Following Operation Omens Undone, Nublaria is saved from destruction since the singularity is halted. Unfortunately, the illuminate would not have their thirst unquenched, and destroyed many cities on an attack on the planet. This Helldivers did not deploy to the planet, resulting its inevitable fall and ransacking. About one in two citizens were turned into voteless, almost 3/4 of them were used to further research into breaking the Illuminate's mind control.

Operation Party Crasher[]

In an unprovoked and entirely unwarranted agression, the Illuminate would re-emerge from the meridian wormhole with a massive invasion fleet dubbed "The Great Host" to further menace the peaceful citizens of the galaxy, assaulting many planets during their relentless push towards Super Earth. Nublaria would be untouched by the squids, but while the rest of the galaxy was fortifying Super Earth or trying to weaken the Illuminate armada, Terminid spore would spread to Nublaria I, which would fall with practically no opposition by May 14th.

With all hands on deck to defend the heart of managed democracy, only around 7000 Helldivers would answer the planet's call for aid. Whilst this might have presented a significant force several weeks early, with over a hundred thousand Helldiver's responding to the Illuminate threat, supply lines would be stretched thin and thus the effectiveness of the Helldivers on Nublaria I was hampered significantly.

However during the siege of Widow's Harbor, the Democracy Space Station would take heavy fire from the Illuminate Fleet, which possessed what appeared to be countermeasures specifically prepared for the Battle-station. Although it would remained combat operational, High Command would still warn the Helldivers that continued engagements between the DSS and the Great Host would risk further damage to the station.

To this end, the DSS would be reassigned to Nublaria I to keep it safe from the illuminate as the crew conducted damage control operations. Whilst it's presence would help with planetary holding operations, without Helldivers reinforcements to conduct a renewed ground campaign, the initiative would unfortunately remain in Terminid hands for the foreseeable future.

Until Now.

Operation Debt Collector[]

Nublaria I would be left under Terminid control for a whole month, mostly because of higher priority operations taking place across the galaxy, against the Illuminate on Super Earth and elsewhere. However, once the Battle of Super Earth was won, the tide soon began to change. The Terminid advance on the Celeste Sector came to a halt and, once the bugs failed to spread into the Korpus Sector, a chance would open up for the Helldivers to liberate the veteran planet.

On June 22nd, High Command issued orders for the Helldivers to kill 2.9 Million Illuminates, alongside 2.9 Billion Terminids as war reparations owed to Super Earth under intergalactic law. Despite it not being a major order objective, Long-distance surveys had identified Terminid-controlled planets to possess E-710 quantities in upper geological strata that were larger-than-usual. As such, the Helldivers were given advise to capture any Terminid planet they could in order to massive progress their secondary target of Terminid purging.

With Krakatwo captured on June 23rd, the situation on Nublaria began to improve, as not only was the planet isolated from other Terminid-infested planets, but the SEAF launched assaults on the planet, pushing its resistance projection index to -0.5%. The momentum had built up and, soon enough, the Helldiver Fleet turned up on the planet, the Democracy Space Station with them.

Nublaria I would be fully liberated on the 25th of June at 1:21 SE Time. Not only would this add a massive amount of E-710 to Super Earth's strategic fuel reserve, but also open up FTL lanes between the Korpus and Orion sectors, through the Celeste corridor. The only obstacle towards the full liberation of the entire Celeste Sector now being the planet of Slif.
