Abundant with life, this wet planet is covered in deep oceans, thick forests, and tall grasses.
~ Official Description

Meissa is one of the five planets that reside within the Ymir Sector. This world is covered in plant life and receives heavy rainfall and fog. At nighttime, beautiful green moonlight can be seen peeking through the fog occasionally. On April 20th, Meissa become a frontline planet. Although Meissa is a world of nature and democracy, an Automaton offensive risks the planet being converted into a planet of machines and machinations.

Topography[]

Meissa is a relatively flat world with some rocky features. The air is filled with plant debris and ash, and the planet is often very foggy. Rain is nearly constant. Large oceans and many lakes also are found here. Plant life like trees and tall grass is uniformly found everywhere. Other life forms like small flying bugs that glow red or blue are also present. Helldivers should be aware of the dangers of the rain and the volcanoes here. The volcanoes have the potential to create patches of fire in key areas.

History[]

Second Galactic War[]

Failure of the Terminid Control System - Defense of Meissa (April 20th - April 21st)[]

Automaton forces began to assault Meissa on April 20th, 2184. This attack was part of their wider joint-offensive with the Terminids. So far, Helldiver forces have been too overstretched to respond in force to the attack on Meissa. There was no substantial change to this part of the front on April 21st. S.E.A.F forces were reported overrun the next day.

Declaration of the Galactic War on Tyranny - Liberation Campaign of Meissa (April 22nd - Middle of May 2184)[]

Meissa fell into Automaton hands after the failure to defend the planet. The sudden crisis in Umlaut sector caused Helldivers to rush into east .The liberation percentage averaged at 1.05% per day. With the Automatons already having secured Charon Prime, their offensive continued to the south into Charbal-VII and Choepessa IV in Trigon Sector. Later, fighting would reach Wasat from here. By no later than May 13th, the planet fell. The liberation campaign for Meissa was slow and drawn out, only making the nectar of inevitable victory ever more sweet. However since May 13th, only a skeleton crew of Helldivers fought on the planet, with nearly all of forces being occupied elsewhere. The liberation campaign would gradually come to an end over the next week, leaving the planet fully in automaton hands.

Operation Valiant Resistance - Summer Liberation Campaign (June 10th.)[]

Helldiver forces returned to the planet on June 10th. These soldiers were those brave enough to continue the offensive began all the way on Wezen, during Operation Valiant Resistance. The successful operation, which concluded with the capture of Wasat, opened the way to Meissa's jungle surface once again. By the next day however, most of this force of ~13,000 had dissipated due to a new offensive on Aesir Pass. That offensive was the opening volley in Operation Trolley Problem. The force on Meissa was miniscule until July 3rd. Liberation progress nearly reset by July 3rd. But on this day, a new defense order began to protect the X system.

As Helldiver forces shifted to the Ymir Sector, Meissa became a target again. ~15,500 Helldivers assaulted the planet on July 3rd. By July 4th, the system was about halfway liberated. The size of the Helldiver force dropped to ~5,000 as combat began on the true objective of X-45. On July 5th, X-45 was liberated. Helldiver forces on Meissa swelled to ~10,000, bolstering reclamation efforts.

Loss of momentum did not seem to occur following the assaults on Vega Bay and Wasat. The defense of these planets are critical to maintaining supply lines to Meissa and X-45. Around the same time of the defense of Vega Bay, The Helldivers successfully reasserted control of Meissa, cutting off the attack on Wasat and opening up FTL Lines to Matar Bay.

Shortly after the liberation of Meissa a hastily put together force of Automatons, originating from Matar Bay, made landfall on the planet, engulfing the beautiful jungle world in war once more. This attack was barely resisted, leading to a Helldiver victory on July 6th.

Operation Shattered Skies[]

Meissa would spend the rest of the year completely undisturbed by the Second Galactic War. The colonists at Meissa would work hard on the reconstruction of their settlements and the reestablishment of their status quo prior to their entry into the war. However, come February 2185, Meissa would find itself right back in the war. With the resurgence of the Illuminate on December 2184, both the Terminid and Automaton fronts would be left in complete disarray and created several openings for both bugs and bots alike to advance, which ultimately allowed the bots to start their second takeover of the Andromeda Sector. On February 3, 2185, the Automatons at Matar Bay would invade and capture the snowy world of Marfark as the at the bots at the Bay sought to close themselves off from the FTL network. Then, on February 5th, 2185, Meissa would be attacked from Matar Bay, as the Automatons sought to reclaim the territories that had been liberated from them during the campaigns of July and August 2184. Luckily, with no other enemy invasions or high-priority Orders, the plurality of the Helldiver Cops turned up to Meissa and easily defended the planet with plenty of time to spare.

Interim (Feb 24. 2185)[]

Since the comfortable defense of the planet some weeks prior, Meissa would go on relatively comfortably as would the rest of the bot front for the most part. The Helldivers would be far more concerned with efforts to the South and the East as the Illuminate began to move the Meridian Singularity toward Super Earth, just as the Terminids revealed multiple new strains of bugs at Fenrir III and Fori Prime.

Following the liberation of Fori Prime after a grueling 6 day battle against an overwhelmingly formidable Gloom-infused Terminid presence, the Automatons of Matar Bay began to assault Meissa once more in tandem with an attack on Charon Prime by the bots at Martale. Both attacks were destroyed with relative ease.

Operation Good Samaritan[]

However, Meissa wasn't fated to last much longer in peace. Much like how Charon Prime saw a second attack shortly after the attack on February 24th, Meissa would see its own follow-up assault by the Automatons making planetfall on March 1st, when the Automatons dispatched 16 battalions onto the planet.

This latest battle of Meissa was far more gruesome than its prior successful defenses. With a much stronger invasion by the bots, and an overall late response by the Helldivers concentrating on Martale, the bots built a substantial lead roughly 8 hours into the campaign. Then, when the Automatons attacked both Blistica and Chort Bay, the defense became even more undermanned than it was. At around 6 hours left in the campaign, the battle for Meissa began to look lost.

By the afternoon of March 2nd, 2185, Meissa would fall, and with a new Order elsewhere, it seemed both Chort Bay and Blistica would eventually fall too.
