A rocky, lonely moon with extremely valuable mineral deposits underneath the surface.
~ Official Description

Maia is one of the five planets that reside within the Severin Sector. It is most known for being one of the final holdouts of the first Automaton fleet.

Topography[]

Maia is a cold, rocky moon. Its topography is composed of a cratered, hilly landscape with occasional cliff formations. It is entirely grayscale, possessing little to no color other than non-natural structures. Its terrain, while hilly, is quite open, making it relatively easy to traverse. This also provides excellent long-distance visibility.

The moon is mostly devoid of flora, except for sparse patches of dry grass and bush. It does however possess oceans, though they are concentrated around the north and south poles, and are not seen during normal gameplay apart from very small pools and ponds.

Maia is extremely prone to meteor storms. Large, jagged rocks enter its atmosphere, burning as they fall - lightning up a purple-blue glint on the impact zone before hitting the ground. The impact of the meteors creates a shockwave, in turn making a small crater on its landing site. A single close or direct hit from a meteor is likely to be lethal.

Operation Swift Disassembly[]

The Battle of Maia began when the Super Earth Armed Forces successfully completed Phase 3 of Operation "Swift Disassembly", which aimed to completely destroy the Automaton fleet. The new Major Order commanded Helldivers to liberate the final three Automaton-occupied planets: Maia, Durgen, and Tibit.

The SEAF decided to capture Maia first, as control over it provides access to the Trigon Sector. The liberation of Maia resulted in a noticeable decrease in Automaton reinforcement efficiency, as their final production centers were judiciously eradicated. Tibit was liberated soon after, leaving Durgen as the Automatons last holdout in the sector.

Around 23,5 million Helldivers perished during the Battle of Maia, all of whom now rest on the rocky moon. As with Tibit, SEAF teams were dispatched to search what remained of Automaton facilities on the moon for any additional intelligence, at least until the surprise invasion of the Valdis Sector several days later...
