| ~ Official Description |
K is one of the seven planets that reside within the Trigon Sector. Alongside Mox and Fury, K was one of the first three Volcanic planets to be added to the map on December 4th, 2025.
Topography and Astrography[]

K is officially described by the
Ministry of Expansion as one of many "Magma Planets". An infernal hellscape, where the scorched wastelands are dotted by lakes of blazing lava and bisected by snaking rivers of magma. Active volcanoes spread as far as the eye can witness the flow of precious molten minerals dribbling down the blackened dirt of the planet's supercontinental landmass, with smaller geysers and magma ponds being a common sight and an even more ordinary threat due to their constant eruptions.

However, even amidst the blazing inferno, some plant life has managed to eek out a meager existence on K's surface, as Helldivers have reported sightings of particular gray cacti and small shrubberies scattered conservatively throughout the basalt cliffs and ridges of the planet. Though a rare sight, liquid water can be found on K's surface, though the sight is rare and the water is likely unsafe for human consumption.

Because of the extreme volcanic activity, K's intense temperatures drastically increase the stamina drain of all physical activity, while also speeding up the heat buildup of all weapons reliant on internal cooling elements. While this heat has rendered the planet uninhabitable to most common lifeforms in the galaxy and unsuitable for colonization,
Helldivers are still able to operate thanks to their armor's protection, but should still tread carefully around any and all magma, as even a slight touch will set a Helldiver ablaze and incinerate them in seconds. Armors that provide Fire Resistance are recommended.
The K System consists of planet K itself, its volcanic moon, and at least 3 other astronomical bodies, which include a gas giant, its orbiting moon and a yellow rocky exoplanet. Additionally, 2 nebulas can be observed from K's orbit, one orange and one blue. While some sources place K as the eighth planet in its system, others place it as the 126th planet of its system[1], but definitive information on the matter remains classified. The K System, prior to December 4th, 2185, had been kept off the Galactic War Map as the Government of Super Earth deemed it unlikely for any of the enemies of Freedom to find any use in a planet that was so hostile to most lifeforms in the galaxy. However, following the discovery of Illegal Automaton Mining on K and other Magma Planets, K would see itself thrust into one of the most valuable positions in the greater war against the
Automaton Legion.
K's position right on the right elbow of the Trigon Sector, in the middle of the gap between Wasat, Varylia 5 and Martale, opens up immense tactical possibilities. However, so far, K's only connection are to Varylia 5 and Choepessa IV, so this strategic worth is yet to be seen. Besides its strategic potential, the mineral riches of K have become self-evident, as the Automatons have been able to extract substantial quantities of high grade platinum from the planet that would be later repossessed by the Helldivers. Securing the K system is critical to the military effort against the Automatons, as it can both cut the socialist scum away from a valuable mineral source and allow Super Earth to use it instead for the furthering of Managed Democracy.
History[]
Second Galactic War[]
Operation Magma Charter[]
Helldivers proceed to extraction after completing their mission on K. December 4th, 2185.
K, much like planets like Mox or Fury, had been discovered by the
Federation of Super Earth at some point during its many decades of spacefaring. Being a Volcanic planet, K had been deemed to hostile for Super Earth to make attempts at settling the planet, let alone conduct any economic activity on its surface. However, the Government of Super Earth would opt to instead hide K from its Galactic War Maps, thinking that K's volatility would keep it safe from the exploitation of any of Freedom's many enemies. Unfortunately, this misjudgement would cost Managed Democracy dearly.
At some point during the early years of the Second Galactic War, K and other Magma Planets would be conquered by the
Automaton Legion. Because of their metallic bodies being impervious to the magma, the odious machines would take to plundering K's surface of every trace of mineral that they could find. However, Liberty's will was not for K to suffer in silence. On December 4th, the Goverment of Super Earth discovered that the
Automatons were extracting minerals from K and other Magma Planets, taking advantage of the inhospitable climate and lack of any Federation presence.

Super Earth High Command immediately issued High Priority orders for the liberation of three of these Magma Planets, Fury, Mox and K. The Helldivers fought hard on Fury, sustaining multiple casualties due to the magma and the constant eruptions of the many geysers of lava across the surface, until the planet was liberated on December 6th. Then, the Helldivers would liberate nearby Varylia 5 at lightning speed on December 7th by conducting simultaneous offensives on the planetary capital of Sequim and Automaton bases scattered across the planet.
However, the gears of Tyranny would soon throw a wrench in the well-oiled war machine of the Federation. Seeing their once-secret industry be torn down and the secrets of their Orgo-Plasma being slowly deciphered, the
Automatons immediately deployed 2 Units of the
Incineration Corps towards Mox and K. The dexterous offensive would come to a painful halt, as the mechanized pyromaniacs doubled the resistance posed by the already established Automaton Garrisons on both of the remaining target planets. With casualties piling up and little progress being made, by the 11th of December, High Command would declare the operation to wrest control of the magma worlds a failure.
Although the industry on Fury had been annexed and the mining on K significantly disrupted, the
Automatons exploitation and thievery of the planet's minerals and synthesize of Organic Plasma from humanity's best and brightest would continued largely unobstructed.
Operation Kalium[]
The Varylia-K gambit
Even after the failure of operation Magma Charter, low level fighting would continue on the surface of K, although the operation's failure would result in a loss of momentum with the
Incineration Corps regaining ground in several areas. During this, High Command would then initiate the beginning stages of Operation Free Space, by ordering construction of Pandora Base on Afoyay Bay. This top-secret foundry will develop next-generation Galactic defense technologies central to Operation Free Space.
The
Helldiver Corps would have to hold Afoyay Bay to secure the endeavor and its workforce, supplied by the
Center for the Containment of Dissidence. At the same time however, they would have to liberate and hold the remaining Magma Planets, to stabilize essential supply lines. However with the
Incineration Corps holding the fortified high ground on K and Mox, such a task would have been impossible...
... had the
Automaton Legion not made a fatal error. Likely trying to cut off supplies to forward units on K, K's division of
Incineration Corps would launch an assault on Varylia 5. However the Corps would be met with stiff resistance by the
S.E.A.F. who even without the assistance of the
Helldivers would be able to hold the planet for at least two days. At the same time, the
Incineration Corps departure from K would give the
Helldivers the opening they needed to gain ground and take the planet in a much shorter time frame -- opening up the possibility of a tactical gambit.
The gambit would pay off, at a costly price. Despite their foolish attempt at taking Varylia, the rearguard of the Incineration Corps was still capable of putting up unexpected resistance. This delaying action would require the Helldivers to forsake an Illuminate invasion at New Stockholm in order to concentrate on liberating K before Varylia, and the Major Order with it, was lost. Even as the DSS' Eagle Storm came online to wreak havoc upon the Automaton occupiers, the Helldivers could not divert any manpower or the crucial
Democracy Space Station to aid at New Stockholm, leading to its regrettable fall.
K would be successfully liberated on December 12th, the
Incineration Corps at Varylia now having been cut off and successfully eliminated shortly after and leaving only the contingent on Mox left to be taken care of. A great success, built upon tremendous sacrifice.

Trivia[]
Picture of the Galactic War Map by user Xeltan, who is running a modded version of the game. The mod's asset replacement method shifted certain internal values within the game's data, thus revealing these names. Picture taken January 9th, 2026.
- The internal name of K seems to be Adrenal 8, as it is the name still used for the planet in the
Democracy Space Station's FTL Warp Voting Screen.
- On a similar vein, another one of K's internal names appears to be K-ICXXVI, which is an incorrect roman numeral, since I (1) can not precede C (100). However, removing the first I leaves the numeral at 126, thus making K's name turn into K-I126 when converted to regular, western arabic numerals.
