Submerged in eternal winter, this world's frosty peaks glimmer in the light of its too-distant star.
~ Official Description

Julheim is one of the four planets that reside within the Nanos Sector. It became the first planet within the sector to be attacked by the Illuminate. Whilst Julheim is a planet of relatively low strategic importance to the ongoing galactic war, it is also home to Good Citizen Andrews' School for Moderately Feeble Young Adults.

Topography[]

A Super Destroyer squadron awaits an incoming Pelican, carrying a squad of Helldivers after their mission. August 6th, 2185.

Similar to Marfark, Vog-Sojoth, Vandalon IV and Vega Bay, Julheim is submerged in an eternal winter thanks to it's too-distant star. Extreme cold and blizzards are experienced year round, with the vast majority of the surface is mostly covered by ice, with elevations ranging from low-lying areas to flat-topped mountains.

Julheim only houses one city of note, though it is both large and rather important. The appropriately named Megacity of Frostown houses the majority of the planetary population, industry and economic activity as well as Good Citizen Andrews' School for Moderately Feeble Young Adults. As such, whoever controls Frostown controls Julheim (or at the very least a majority stake in it).

History[]

Second Galactic War[]

Despite being near the frontlines of the Automaton Western Front, Julheim had managed to avoid direct invasion and consequently the worst that the Second Galactic War had to offer. At least at first...

Festival of Reckoning[]

On the 28th of December, 2184, the Illuminate launched a vicious assault on Julheim, bringing death and destruction to families' peaceful and solemn observance of the Festival of Reckoning. It is clear that nothing is sacred to these zealots. The Helldivers must ensure the innocents killed by the Illuminate on this day are fully avenged.

Operation Good Samaritan[]

After the Illuminate invasion, Julheim would see no attacks for almost three months, allowing the planet to recover. however, the peace it had owned for so long was about to be stripped away.

On the 25th of Febuary, 2185, intercepted Automaton transmissions indicated that the planet was one of two ultimate targets for the foul machines, with the other being Duma Tyr. On its own, most Helldivers would have gone to Duma Tyr, as it is the site of the almost finished MD-8 Gas mines. However, many noble Helldivers are leaving behind the Gas mines to defend Julheim as it is also the site of the Good Citizen Andrews' School for Moderately Feeble Young Adults, which thousands of civilians are trapped in the ruins of.

Unfortunately the simultaneous invasions of Bekvam III and Charbal-VII several days later by the Automaton Legion seemingly Guaranteed that one or possibly both worlds would fall in short order... then, the Miracle of Bekvam happened. A sudden and unexpected collapse in Automaton capabilities gave the Helldiver Corps the opportunity to liberate huge swaths of territory from the enemy's socialist grasp.

Later the Ministry of Defense would release an intelligence report explaining that this lapse in combat effectiveness was caused by a routine update to the Automatons' Operating System. Whilst the enemy has since regained full fighting capacity, the second galactic war has seemingly reached a brief stalemate where neither the S.E.A.F. or the enemies of humanity are able to gain any ground. This all but ensures the safety of both the Moderately Feeble Young Adults and landmines -- all thanks to the efforts of the valiant Helldivers (and a network wide glitch).

However whilst the planet remains safe from direct attack for now, only time will tell if the Helldivers can continue to hold back the Automatons assaults, or if the nefarious robots will eventually be able to set foot on the soil of this planet. But even if they should they will not be able to claim the lives of humanity's most feeble, as following the operation's success the moderately feeble young adults of Good Citizen Andrews' were evacuated from the planet.

Additionally the Helldivers rescue of the young adults would inspire enlistments across the federation, breaking all previous records -- particularly amongst feeble youth. As one enfeebled adult would say quote: "I used to think I was too feeble. Now, I know I can fight for freedom like anyone else." Truly, an inspiration to us all.[1]

Operation Tormenta de Fuego[]

However, Julheim was not fated to stay peaceful for too long. While the Helldivers were diverted away to secure construction sites for the parts of the Penrose Energy Siphon in their effort to contain and stop the Meridian Singularity, the Automatons would bide their time and build a new and nefarious foe: the Incineration Corps, a horrid unit equipped with incendiary weapons and munitions who would stop at nothing to burn Liberty to cinders.

This horrid unit would quickly capture Bekvam III on March 19th and then launched a triple assault onto Charon Prime, Duma Tyr and Julheim on March 20th. The Helldivers would find themselves split not only between all the besieged planets but also in a race against time to secure enough E-710 to start the Penrose Energy Siphon, which had been successfully constructed.

BattleOfJulheim2

The assault on Duma Tyr would be repelled, but Charon Prime and Julheim would fall to the Automatons on the next day. With their forces having been dealt a heavy blow at Duma Tyr, the Automatons concentrated the Incineration Corps at Julheim and used it as a forward base from which to send out a dual attack towards both Charbal-VII and Dolph.

From March 21st onwards, the Helldivers fought as hard as they could to try and capture Julheim before the Automatons could advance into the 2 planets but would be unable to successfully capture Julheim in time, as the two planets were captured by the Automatons due to the defenses in them collapsing on March 22nd.

However, the Automaton advance would appear to have stalled, as the defense at Martale severed the Automaton control at the Andromeda Sector in half and heavily slowed down their logistics. With this small window of opportunity, the Helldivers rushed to capture Julheim in order to isolate Dolph and expunge the Incineration Corps from the galaxy.

On March 23rd, Julheim would be liberated and the Incineration Corps would be crushed in battle. However, this would be but a small glimpse of victory in an operation otherwise riddled with defeat. The Automatons had managed to completely conquer the Ymir Sector and captured 5 other planets, while the Penrose Energy Siphon would have to sit still as the E-710 collected was insufficient for its activation. The already battered cities in Julheim would be left severely destroyed by the Automaton invasion and the long days of battle that took place in its surface.

Operation Martyr's Calling[]

BattleOfJulheim3

Julheim would remain in a state of relative peace for a grand total of 8 days since then an Automaton attack would beset the planet. With the Helldivers pushed all the way to Vandalon IV, Julheim's defense would see no support and would collapse on April 1st. However, Julheim's fate had not been sealed just yet. Despite its fall, many Helldivers would rotate in and out of Julheim in order to maintain its liberation index afloat while the situation at the Vandalon-Dolph line stabilized.

However, despite Helldiver support being plentiful, it did decay as the Incineration Corps reappeared and converged onto Julheim. But not all hope was lost, as civilian resistance fighters and colonial defenders would pick up wherever the Helldivers left gaps. In the alleys and streets of urban settlements conquered by the Automatons, multiple Helldivers reported finding the remains of several SEAF infantrymen and civilians fallen in combat, many of the latter individuals having perished with their Break Action Shotguns in hand and their ammunition completely spent in a courageous last stand against the tide of socialism.

The tide of change would soon reach Julheim as the Incineration Corps were soon moved away to Pöpli IX in order to reinforce the resurgent Jet Brigade, which had been trapped by the Helldivers on the planet thanks to the timely activation of the DSS Eagle Storm. On April 3rd, the Helldivers would defeat both the Jet Brigade and the Incineration Corps at Pöpli IX, which completely depleted the garrisons of Troost, Ustotu, Mort, Charbal-VII, Choepessa IV, Bekvam III and Julheim, which allowed the Helldivers to initiate a counteroffensive starting right at Julheim.

The battle at Julheim would be brief as, thanks to the heroic sacrifice of civilian resistance fighters, colonial defenders and SEAF infantry, the liberation campaign at Julheim hadn't been fully undone by the Automatons and, on the morning of April 4th, Julheim was liberated from the Automatons once again.

Operation Drydock Lockout[]

Julheim would remain free ever since its liberation on April, its citizens breathing in the cold, refreshing air of Liberty once again as they concentrated on rebuilding their planet home. However, they weren't fated to remain in peace forever. As the war progressed, the situation would force the Helldivers to concentrate their forces on the ever increasing threat posed by the Illuminate and, by the time of the Invasion of Super Earth by the Illuminate, the SEAF had been completely relocated towards Super Earth in order to repel the Great Host's invasion.

Even with Super Earth's victory over the Illuminate, the SEAF's withdrawal allowed several openings in multiple fronts that the enemies of Freedom would make sure to exploit. On June 27th, the Automatons would recapture Bekvam III during Operation Jet Crusade, mostly due to the resurgence of the Jet Brigade and its newly upgraded Hulks and Devastators. Then, on July 15th, Julheim would be attacked by an Automaton contingent, alongside Varylia 5 and Claorell.

The Automaton offensive would be discovered to have key DSS installations as their objective, which would quickly prompt High Command to order the Helldivers to concentrate on holding Gaellivare, the original DSS Construction Site, Tarsh, the DSS Logistics Hub, and Claorell, the home of the Deep Mantle Forge Complex. Because of this, Julheim's defense, alongside that of Varylia's, would be abandoned and the planet would fall the next day.

The Automatons were ruthless in their conquest of the planet. In the planetary capital of Frostown, the Automatons would put their protocols for wanton murder, bloodshed and destruction on full effect. Unlike in other cities captured by Terminids or Illuminate invaders, the Automatons would brutishly take to devastating everything in their path. All of the skyscrapers in Frostown were reduced to charred concreted carcasses covered in hoarfrost, a sight not to dissimilar to other cities such as Sequim in Varylia 5 or Bucu's Rest on Lesath. The streets would be littered with all sorts of debris, burned cars, barricades and piles of long dead civilians and SEAF Troopers alike, some of them impaled in spikes, dismembered or skewered in barbed wire.

No Super Earth Flags were left untouched by the nefarious Automatons. All that would be left to even identify the once shining beacon of Democracy were what little Helldiver statues the socialist machine preserved in their odious mockery of Humanity's greatest heroes. Instead, the Cog and Star waved over the city, the red, black and white banner of wires, steel and death overbearing in its oppression, rising above the rubble like an obelisk to the Automatons' depraved ideals.

Operation Trooper Deatomization[]

On the 6th of August, 2185, the first residents would begin to populate the three Maximum Security Cities (MSCs) of New Hope City, New Aspiration City, and New Yearning City, on the planets Fort Union, Emeria, and Fort Sanctuary, respectively. As these trailblazing models of citizenship establish their families in these well-guarded metropolises, it was of vital importance that no agents of Tyranny mar the momentous proceedings.

While New Hope City and New Yearning City were far from enemy forces, citizens arriving to New Aspiration City on Emeria could not ignore the Automatons menacing the neighboring Nanos Sector. High Command surmised that the Automatons sought to intimidate our citizenry and derail the success of the MSC Project through manipulation of public perception.

Although the Helldivers would conduct some scouting and probing missions, the S.E.A.F. would not return to Julheim en-masse until August 7th after liberating neighboring Duma Tyr earlier in the day. Helldivers would begin operations across the planet whilst the rest of the S.E.A.F. Army focused on the Mega City and planetary capital of Frostown. However on that same day, attention was brought to Charbal-VII, after messages intercepted by the Ministry of Intelligence confirmed the presence of an secure Automatons database on the planet.

Around 30% of the active Helldiver Corps deployed forward onto Charbal along with the Democracy Space Station, with the remaining 30% staying on Julheim. Unfortunately, this force would prove insufficient for the task at hand and would delay the liberation of Julheim by several days. Never the less, the successful liberation of the planetary capital on the early evening of August 9th would shatter the Automatons defensive network (jumping liberation progress from 26% to 83%). This paved the way for the full liberation of the planet in the early morning of the 10th, after which the Helldiver Corps redeployed to Bekvam III.

Operation Cyber Assault (August 21st, 2185)[]

Julheim would once again find itself under Automaton shadow, as bots were quick to perform counter attack after last operation on western front. On morning of August 21st, a 3 way offensive was launched from Charbal system. This presented a strategic opportunity for Gambit Maneuver, as this left Charbal virtually defenseless. High Command has issued a communication regarding that matter, but Helldivers left it mostly unheeded. Democracy Space Station was moved from Charbal towards Charon Prime, and with it, the majority of divers. With Charon lost to Automatons on 22nd, Both DSS and Divers redeployed to Charbal, with hopes for performing the gambit maneuver - while not possible at first, the timely activation of Heavy Ordnance Distribution, system was liberated in 16 hours - Forcing the divisions attacking Julheim and Mort to abandon their attacks and retreat.

Operation Reclaimed Fire[]

Julheim was once again the target of the ruthless aggression of the Automatons on October 17th. The commanders of the Legion, completely dissatisfied with the next failure of the Jet Brigade attacking Lesath and the virtually predetermined outcome in the form of complete destruction of the forces directed at the planet, made a more reasonable (as far as possible in the context of socialist robots) decision to attack Julheim, control of which provided S.E.A.F. with the opportunity to conduct an offensive campaign on Bekvam III. A grouping equal to 26 invasion fleets and consisting of various units of regular Automaton troops appeared in the system of the same name at 14:38 SEST. As it was revealed by experts, the bots, unusually, showed a considerable level of strategic planning, attacking from the Duma Tyr system, and not from the Bekvam.

While the main SEAF forces continued their counteroffensive on Lesath, destroying the Jet Brigade troops, a smaller part of the SEAF, including the Helldivers, advanced to help the defenders of Julheim. Until the full security of the Lesath at 01:15-01:30 SEST, a group of no more than 10000 Super Destroyers and a corresponding number of Helldivers operated on Julheim (not counting the classified number of military personnel from various SEAF branches). However, soon the number of Super Destroyers in the system rapidly increased by almost 5 times by 05:00 SEST, which emphasized the importance of maintaining control over Julheim in order to fulfill the Major Order and maintain the democratic rule of Liberty in this world.

Passing through the neutralized Automatons outpost in Frosttown

Since most of the population, economic potential, and infrastructure were located in the largest city of Julheim and its capital – Frostown (with the status of a Megacity) – it became a key target of the contingent stationed on the planet. The Automatons also understood this, and therefore used large forces to attempt its occupation, but they faced the bravery, patriotism and effectiveness of the Super Earth troops, which the cheap processors of aggressive soulless bots cannot understand and take into account. The snowy streets of one of the most beautiful megacities among the planets of such a biome were rapidly turning into scrap metal dumps.

Julheim snowstorm

A Helldiver moves through a snowstorm in the polar desert and sees the explosion of a 500 kg bomb. October 18th, 2185.

The blind simulation of hatred embedded in the software of these killing machines has faced equally serious challenges both in the uninhabited snowy, icy expanses and in small, once cozy, urbanized colonies. By turning nature, as well as private, municipal, and state property, into military and low-quality, non-ecological industrial facilities, thereby desecrating the property of the people of Julheim, socialist robots violate an incredible number of laws, and therefore bear, have borne, and continue to bear responsibility for their atrocities.

By 15:20 SEST, the Helldivers and regular units had already secured 62% of the planet's territory and about 54% of the area of Frostown and were actively returning the light of democracy throughout Julheim. The battle for Julheim would be evenly split between the defense of Frostown and the safeguarding of the many settlements that dotted Julheim's surface, the air permeated with a sense of urgency as the time left for Marfark's capture ran out. At exactly midnight of October 19th, the Automaton assault on Julheim would be defeated and the invaders would be completely wiped out. With Julheim secured, the Helldivers rushed back to Bekvam III, with only 40 hours left to complete the operation.
