Gar Haren is one of the six planets that reside within the Jin Xi Sector.
Topography[ | ]
Similar to Socorro III
History[ | ]
Second Galactic War[ | ]
Operation Overrun[ | ]
Gar Haren was a relatively isolated colony of Super Earth that, ever since its initial colonization, hadn't really engaged in contact with the rest of the Jin Xi system. Given its foggy, swampy environment, its colonists spent much of their time paddling makeshift rafts and canoes down the swamps to fish and using the few patches of fertile, livable land to build their settlements and farms.
However, despite its innocuous, peaceful nature, the Terminids, being soulless, fascistic insects, would have no appreciation for such simplistic pleasures. During Operation Overrun, Gar Haren's FTL Lines to neighboring Gatria and Phact Bay would be restored as the Ministry of Expansion seeked to increase colonization efforts on the otherwise unremarkable planet.
It would be because of this interest from the Ministry that the SEAF would be tasked with ensuring Gar Haren's security, alongside with that of Phact Bay and Gatria amidst a Terminid outbreak produced by the Gloom, an intergalactic nebula made up of Terminid Interstellar spores that appeared around Socorro III some weeks prior.
However, Operation Overrun would go remarkably well for the Helldivers, as they managed to successfully repel all attacks that were coming towards both Phact Bay and Gatria despite the massive Terminid numbers. As such, Gar Haren's colonists would mostly only spend their time building light fortifications and stockpiling moderate amounts of weapons that would mostly remained stashed in scattered depots.
Operation Ring of Freedom[ | ]
However, this peace was not going to last forever. As the months passed and the Helldivers were diverted elsewhere, the Terminids seemed to have learned, now pouncing onto planets when the Helldivers weren't looking. Such was the case for Phact Bay, which fell on September 28th after 2 days of fierce fighting against a Terminid assault from Partion. Then, the Terminids at Phact Bay would go on to successfully invade Darius II on September 29th.
The painting was clear on the wall and, fittingly, the colonists in Gar Haren began to make preparations for an invasion, while the Terminids in Phact Bay would go back to then send another assault onto Pandion-XXIV on September 30th, not even a full week after its excruciating liberation. While this first assault would be repelled, the bugs at Phact Bay would withdray to regain their strength, while an assault from Gacrux would ultimately overwhelm Pandion on October 7th.
With Pandion scratched off its list, the only remaining ways for Super Earth to attack the Terminid broods at Phact Bay were Gatria and Gar Haren. However, Gatria had proven to be very defensible against the Bugs, having never been lost to the Terminids through an assault in all of the Second Galactic War so far. As such, using their maleficent instinct, the Bugs instead opted for their other, more strategically valuable target: Gar Haren
Gar Haren had just opened a new FTL line with Achernar Secundus, which itself linked back to Ursica XI, itself linking to Achird III which, ultimately, led to Turing, the home of the new Xenoentomology Center that had been constructed as part of the Democracy Space Station project.
Thus, on October 12th, the Terminids launched the first assault ever onto Gar Haren. This assault, despite a valiant defense from the Helldivers, would punch through on October 13th and then immediately head towards Achernar Secundus, as the Terminids aimed to reach Achird III with all they had.
Operation Spark of Liberty[ | ]
Gar Haren would be under Terminid control ever since its fall, as the Helldivers were constantly diverted away towards other, more important, targets. However, Gar Haren would catch a glance of hope from an unexpected side.
On November 14th, after the tragedy at Acamar IV had caused the total collapse of the Terminid front, Gar Haren's Terminid hatcheries experienced a sudden extinction event, and no Terminids eggs would be there to replenish the fallen, which left Gar Haren's Terminid broods unable to undo any progress towards the planet's liberation.
As such, a small Helldiver contingent on the planet began to slowly make progress towards the planet, as all other forces were focused on keeping Gaellivare, and the Democracy Space Station, away from the Automatons.
Operation Balance of Liberty[ | ]
Even after the pyrrhic victory with the Democracy Space Station and all the losses in the Terminid Front, Gar Haren would continue its slow but steady progress towards liberation. However, where a small contingent had picked up the ball and gotten it rolling, the Helldiver Corps would soon get it all the way to the finish line, like a tortoise racing a hare.
Once Crimsica was liberated on November 20th, the Helldiver Corps immediately rotated towards Gar Haren, hoping to liberate it in time to rotate towards more critical planets such as Lesath.
Gar Haren would be finally liberated on November 22nd without much fanfare or strife, allowing its colonists to resume their peaceful lives.
Interim (December 16th - )[ | ]
Gar Haren would remain in peace following its liberation, without much events happening to it. It would remain safeguarded against a Terminid offensive during Operation Bughammer until, suddenly, all Helldivers were ordered towards Calypso and, essentially, left all the fronts unmanned. The reason was nothing short of an event that rightfully demanded every available soldier in the SEAF: The Illuminate had returned and were now invading Calypso.
As such, the Terminids would capture Gatria on December 14th leaving Gar Haren exposed. Then, 2 days later, the Terminids sent a spore barrage onto Gar Haren. However, their attack couldn't have been more poorly timed, since the Helldivers would come out of the battle at Calypso victorious and reinforced. Around 33,000 Super Destroyers immediately set course to Gar Haren, determined to drive the Terminids away from the planet and even farther away.
For the first 20 hours of the onslaught, the Helldivers would manage to hold their position with a comfortable ease. However, things would soon turn south when the Illuminate started a second, much larger offensive on the Southern Galactic Rim, requiring all Helldivers to divert back towards the endangered planets and allowing the Terminids an opening, ultimately allowing them to overrun the planetary defenses. However, with the capture of Gar Haren, the Terminids appear to have reached a dead end, as enemy resistance was pretty much null.
