The GR-8 recoilless rifle is one of the stratagems available to the player.

Stratagem Code[ | ]

Players must enter the following sequence, using the default Ctrl+WASD keys or the controller D-Pad in order to call down this single-use Stratagem during a mission:
Down ArrowLeft ArrowRight ArrowRight ArrowLeft Arrow

Stats[ | ]

  • Call-in Time: 3 Seconds
  • Uses: Unlimited
  • Cooldown Time: 480 Seconds (8 Minutes)

Gameplay Tips[ | ]

  • The GR-8 Recoilless Rifle sits alongside the EAT-17 and LAS-99 Quasar Cannon as the trifecta of direct-fire anti-heavy-armor weapons. All three deal the same damage however each has different firing and reloading systems.
  • In comparison with the EAT-17, the GR-8 features:
    • Increased ammunition supply (1+5) and ability to restock from Supply Drops, Support Packs, or ammo packs
    • Ability to be quickly refired through team reload, or more slowly reloaded alone
    • Longer calldown cooldown (480 seconds vs 70 seconds)
    • Requires a Backpack to hold its 5 ammo reloads
    • Very long 6-second stationary reload if reloaded alone
  • In comparison with the LAS-99 Quasar Cannon, the GR-8 features:
    • Immediate fire rather than the Quasar's 3-second charged trigger
    • Ability to quickly refire rather than needed to wait for a lengthy recharge
    • Finite ammo (1+5) vs the Quasar's unlimited recharges
    • Requires a Backpack to hold its 5 ammo reloads
    • Need to either team reload or stationary self-reload, versus the Quasar's passive recharge
  • The GR-8 can also be compared with the FAF-14 Spear, as both are heavy anti-armor weapons requiring backpacks for their reloading. While the Spear deals more damage than the GR-8, the GR-8 is direct-fire while the Spear is indirect-fire, and the Spear requires locking onto a target while the GR-8 can be fired immediately.
  • Using team reloading the GR-8 can achieve a much higher rate of fire allowing for rapid hits against multiple targets without needing a lock on. This is also recommended to take out larger enemies that may require multiple hits.
  • The weapon is one of several that produce back blast, so it is recommended not to stand directly behind anyone who is getting ready to fire.
  • While it is perfectly capable of taking out larger enemies and vehicles with multiple shots, it is still recommended to aim for weak points, heads for bugs or vents for bots. This can help conserve ammo and allow you to take out more threats.
