Environmental Conditions were added in Patch 1.000.100, Environmental Conditions can affect you gameplay in many different ways.

List of Environmental Conditions[]

There are 12 Environmental Conditions in Helldivers 2 spread across 21 biomes.

Icon Name Biomes Description Notes
Acid Storms Corrosive acid storms temporarily reduce armour effectiveness for both enemy and friendly units.
  • Displayed in-game as "Acid Storm in progress", if active.
Blizzards Intense blizzards reduce mobility and moderately reduce visibility for both enemy and friendly units.
  • Displayed in-game as "Blizzard in progress", if active.
Extreme Cold Periods of freezing temperatures reduce rate of fire and delay heat buildup in weapons.
  • Only occurs in Sandy Mesa biomes at night.
Fire Tornadoes Planet is ravaged by deadly fire tornadoes.
  • Displayed in-game as "Fire Tornado warning", if active.
Intense Heat Periods of high temperatures increase stamina drain and speed up heat buildup in weapons.
  • Only occurs in Scorched Wasteland biomes when Fire Tornadoes are present in the map.
Ion Storms Ion storms intermittently disable Stratagems.
  • Displayed in-game as "Ion Storm in progress.", if active.
  • All minimap icons are disabled during Ion Storms.
Meteor Storms Meteors impact the surface causing massive damage.
  • Displayed in-game as "Incoming Meteor Storm", if active.
Rainstorms Torrential rainstorms reduce visibility.
Sandstorms Dense sandstorms reduce mobility and greatly reduce visibility for both enemy and friendly units.
  • Displayed in-game as "Sandstorm in progress", if active.
Thick Fog Dense fog lightly reduces visibility for both enemy and friendly units.
Tremors Frequent earthquakes stun player and enemies alike.
  • Displayed in-game as "Tremors detected", if active.
Volcanic Activity Volcanoes throw burning rocks around this planet.
  • Displayed in-game as "Volcanic Activity detected", if active.

Change History[]

Patch Changes
1.001.100 The Intense Heat and Extreme Cold modifiers are no longer static throughout the entire mission, and may now change based on time of day or different weather conditions

On Sandy Mesa planets will now only have the Intense Heat modifier active during the day. This means that during night the planet will either have no modifier, or in some cases have the Extreme Cold modifier

The Scorched Wasteland will now only have the Intense Heat modifier active during fire tornado storms

1.001.002 Acid Storms now also temporarily lowers armour for enemies and the player.

Intense Heat modifier has been removed on Acidic Deserts.

Thick Fog modifier is added to the new Foggy Swamp.

1.000.400 Fire tornados have had their behavior changed, they should no longer feel like they actively respond to player movement, and should move more randomly.

While a fire tornado storm takes place, enemy vision is reduced. Player vision is unaffected.

Tremors have had their spawning tweaked to be slightly more random.

Tremors have had their epicenter size and effect range increased.

Added additional VFX for Ion Storms.

1.000.300 Added ambience to the Tremor planetary hazard to underline the severity so Helldivers can react accordingly.
1.000.200 New planetary hazards added Blizzards and Sandstorms.
1.000.100 Environmental Conditions are added.
