East Iridium Trading Bay is one of the five planets that reside within the Tarragon Sector.
Topography and Astrography[]
Super Destroyers in orbit of East Iridium Trading Bay.
Similar to planets like Asperoth Prime, Seasse and Haldus, the East Iridium Trading Bay is, despite its long and oddly specific name, just another swampland planet like many others scattered throughout the galaxy. The marshlands of this planet are dotted by lakes and snaking rivers of deceptively varying depth, while the hilly terrain is packed to the brim with tall mangroves and all forms of bushes and other small shrubberies.
The East Iridium Trading Bay, despite its long name leading most to believe it to have any kind of facilities, does not possess any Mega Cities or any installations worthy of note. However, its surface is dotted by small pockets of urban settlements that house the planet's population.
The East Iridium Trading Bay System is a triple star system consisting of one yellow star similar to Super Earth's own star, a red giant and a blue giant. Besides the East Iridium Trading Bay itself and its orbiting beige, rocky moon, the only other astronomical body observable in the East Iridium Trading Bay System is a red gas giant. Additionally, 2 nebulas can be observed, one orange and one blue.
Despite its long name, the East Iridium Trading Bay is relatively unimportant to the greater effort against the
Illuminate Cult. It's lack of important facilities and its relatively small number of FTL connections makes this planet relatively forgettable. However, any planet defended from the enemies of Democracy is a planet that still produces something of worth for the Federation.
History[]
Second Galactic War[]
War on Dissidence[]
A scout Helldiver destroys Voteless trying to break through to the evacuating civilians. December 3rd, 2185.
The East Iridium Trading Bay was, for much of its recorded history, just another planet colony of Super Earth laying in the Southwestern Galactic Rim. While its name clearly hints at a period in time during which this planet may have served as an important trading hub for the similarly named metal, not much else is known about this planet beyond the fact that it would be settled by Super Earth Colonists during the Great Democratization after the end of the First Galactic War.

However, the peaceful existence of this colony would be aggressively interrupted by an
Illuminate invasion on the 2nd of December, 2184 at 17:08 SEST. It would occur amidst the recently-declared War on Dissidence, which had seen the withdrawal of the local
S.E.A.F. towards other planets with the mission of expunging as many dissidents as possible. With the lack of available defenders, the malevolent squids would spy an opportunity to prey upon the defenseless world. But, not all hope was lost. The Helldivers, tasked with holding the line against the enemy, would deviate significant contingents towards this planet hoping to avoid its loss, as losing too many planets would have cause the failure of their Major Order at the time.
A scout Helldiver ambushed an Illuminate patrol using dynamite and his plasma rifle. December 3rd, 2185.
The first hours of the defensive campaign were complicated not only by the diversion of significant resources to the offensive campaign on the
Terminid-occupied planet Pherkad II in search of dissidents hiding there, but also by the desperate defence of the planet Shete, which was once again attacked by the Illuminate. The nature of the biome prevailing on the planet East Iridium Trading Bay, in particular the lush tropical vegetation and abundance of swamps, hampered both the advance of the
Illuminate invasion forces (which were often subjected to surprise attacks) and the active defensive actions of the
S.E.A.F. units stationed on the planet. Even the
Helldivers were forced to quickly adapt to these conditions, as any unnecessary delay threatened the fate of the planet and its inhabitants. The fighting in urbanised colonial settlements was no less fierce: in many places, the defences of local regular troops and colonial militias were broken.
The Helldivers return to the Super Destroyer. December 3rd, 2185.
Throughout the rest of the 2nd of December and until the second half of the morning of the 3rd of December, the combat zone steadily expanded, and the enemy's offensive progress exceeded the
S.E.A.F.'s defensive progress by an average of 4-5% until it began to slow down. By 9:45 SEST, the
Super Earth military had managed to turn the tide of the battle for the planet, after which the rapid extermination of the squid invaders who had encroached on this world and the Tarragon sector in particular began. At approximately 13:15 SEST on the same day, the last troops of the
Illuminate offensive group, equal to 10 invasion fleets at the start of hostilities, were completely destroyed, halting the rapid advance of the xenophobic hordes towards the west of the Federation-controlled galactic space.
