This page contains information on Eagle Fighter stratagems used in Helldivers 2, including: Strafing Run, Airstrike, Cluster Bomb, Napalm Airstrike, Smoke Strike, 110MM Rocket Pods, 500KG Bomb
Lore[]
The Eagle Fighter is a multi-role aerospace craft used by the Super Earth Armed Forces, often deployed under
Helldiver command to perform atmospheric operations. It is capable of aerospace superiority fighter operations, as well as performing precision ground attack operations in support of Helldiver surface missions.
The Eagle's ordnance payload is modular and can include a variety of direct fire cannons, guided missiles, or various guided and unguided bombs. However, loiter duration, flight performance envelope, and rearming time can vary significantly depending on the type of weapon load delivered to the target area as well as the modifications made to the individual Eagle Fighter.
Super Earth High Command would also like to take this opportunity to dispel rumors that eagle fighter pilots have been physically augmented to better perform their assigned duties and that any personnel caught with unauthorized body modifications may in fact be Automaton dissidents. Stay vigilant Helldivers!
General Tips[]

The Eagle Fighter offers quick-response close air support to the Helldivers on the ground. In contrast to Orbital Strike stratagems, it provides greatly reduced call-in time, but carries a limited amount of ammunition. Eagle stratagems have 1-4 uses each, after which the Eagle Fighter must return to the Super Destroyer in order to get its supplies restocked.
Eagle-1 can be commanded to return to the Super Destroyer for early resupply with the Eagle Rearm stratagem. This can be used to replenish an often-used stratagem even when charges of other stratagems remain. While resupplying, Eagle strikes are unavailable to the Helldiver.
Eagle strikes are oriented relative to Helldiver. Strafing Runs and the 500kg Bomb arrive from behind, dropping forward; while all other strikes arrive from one side, dropping in a line in front of (or on top of) the Helldiver calling it in. Eagle-1 may reposition the attack run to maximize enemy casualties. Notably, the 110mm Rocket Pods are aimed at the largest target (including vulnerable structures) near the stratagem beacon.
Eagle-1 deploys flares while exiting the attack run, returning to high altitude. On Automaton planets, anti-air emplacements may attack Eagle-1, occasionally causing an errant drop, or inflicting enough damage to warrant immediate repairs on the Super Destroyer. AA emplacements will also prevent Helldivers from targeting them with Eagle strikes, forcing them to use other measures. As of yet, Eagle-1 will not alert the Helldiver of incoming AA fire taken, and will only give a standard "returning to rearm" prompt if forced to retreat.
Available Upgrades (Hangar)[]
- Liquid-Ventilated Cockpit - Eagle Stratagem cooldown time reduced by 50%: from 15 seconds to 7,5 seconds.
- Pit Crew Hazard Pay - Eagle Rearm time reduced by 20%: from 2m 30s to 2m
- Expanded Weapons Bay - All Eagle Strikes stratagems gain 1 additional use.
- XXL Weapons Bay - Eagle stratagems that drop multiple bombs will drop 1 additional bomb. This affects Airstrike, Smoke Strike, Cluster Bomb and Napalm Airstrike.
- Advanced Crew Training - Eagle Rearm time reduced a further 10%: from 2m to 1m 45s if uses remain.
Notes[]
The Eagle model is reminiscent of the Z-95 Headhunter with the folding wings of an A/SF-01 B-wing starfighter and V-19 Torrent from Star Wars. Its design, with two turbines at the rear and a rotary auto-cannon mounted in the nose, can remind of the real-life Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II, an aircraft used for CAS just like the Eagle fighter in-game.

If you see any personnel with unauthorized body modifications, they may be an Automaton dissident. Stay vigilant, Helldivers. |
