The E/MG-101 HMG Emplacement is a is a Defensive Stratagem in Helldivers 2.

This stratagem deploys a hellpod that contains twin heavy machine guns mounted on a turret and slaved to a sequential trigger. The gun's high RoF and magazine size, allows it lay down withering amounts of suppressive fire.

Players must enter the following sequence, using the default Ctrl+WASD keys or the controller D-Pad in order to call down this Stratagem during a mission:

Gameplay Tips

• The HMG emplacement is capable of heavy penetration with an internal 300-round magazine. The heavy-pen and high RoF allows it to reliably engage all manner of opponents, barring a handful of enemies that possess anti-tank level armor. It is deadly-effective against chaff, which it cuts down with ease. Heavy units are recommended to be shot at their weakpoints if possible, for ammo efficiency.
  • The weapon cannot be reloaded. Once it runs out of ammo: it will retract back into the hellpod.
• The turret is capable of rotating a full 360-degrees. Contrary to the stratagem description, it's traverse speed is fairly fast and is capable of keeping up with fast-moving enemies. This is because the blurb is unchanged from release, a time when the gun's general turn speeds was actually slow.
  • Turret elevation is only upto 120-degrees.
• The HMG has a rapid cooldown of 180 by default (153 seconds with all Super Destroyer upgrades). This allows the gun to be easily deployed multiple times.
• The emplacement offers no protection for the user, making them very vulnerable to ranged attacks. The fixed and portable shield generators are recommended for survivability when using this stratagem against Automatons, as a wayward rocket or heavy laser blast can easily kill a static helldiver.
• Upon deployment, the HMG will face the same direction the helldiver is. If the gun must be used quickly, it is recommended to deploy the stratagem beacon facing the same direction you wish to fire upon.
