Helldivers are tasked with removing
Automaton Command Bunkers from our galaxy, their hasty construction and plundered steel deemed an eyesore in the eyes of Lady Liberty.
Be cautioned that these massive fortifications are heavily armed with direct-fire weaponry easily capable of removing multiple squads of Helldivers with a machine's careless disregard.
Command Bunker[]
Command Bunkers are large Automaton buildings armed with eight cannon turrets. The turrets function much like Cannon Towers, except they track and fire much faster. Four turrets are on top of the bunker, and the other four are on the sides.
Similar turrets to these may appear at Automaton Fortresses, often covering strategic approaches.
Tactics[]
- The bunker can be destroyed with high power support weapons by targeting the pillars at their sides (not the turrets). More testing needed for exact numbers (currently known the Quasar can destroy it in two to three hits).
- Perhaps the best way to easily dispatch of the Command Bunker is to use the FAF-14 Spear. The Spear's lock-on ability is highly effective against the Command Bunker and it usually take two hits to destroy it.
- Alternatively, using an E/AT-12 Anti-Tank Emplacement against a Command Bunker while from afar can also help.
- The bunker is usually in the center of the outpost and has cannon turrets affixed to the structure itself, defending it.
- The turrets have a maximum engagement range of perhaps 210 meters, outclassed by all available anti-tank weaponry, given sufficient angle.
- The top four cannon turrets can be treated similarly to regular cannon towers. They traverse and fire fairly rapidly and can usually kill a Helldiver in one or two shots. It is advised to seek cover if approaching it under fire.
- The four turrets on the side cannot turn vertically, so sticking next to the bunker is a good way to avoid them.
- The top cannon turrets can be disabled quickly with heavy weaponry fired from any direction.
- The EAT-17 Expendable Anti-Tank, GR-8 Recoilless Rifle, and LAS-99 Quasar Cannon can all destroy a turret in one hit.
- The AC-8 Autocannon can destroy a turret in two to four hits, depending on the struck side.
- The bunkers can be traditionally destroyed with a NUX-223 Hellbomb planted nearby. The turrets and the outpost defending it will typically need to be neutralized to safely deploy and detonate a Hellbomb.
- Alternatively, they can be easily destroyed from a safe distance with a single Orbital Laser, Orbital Walking Barrage or an Orbital 380MM HE Barrage deployed near the bunker.
