A crimson algae has propagated wildly across this entire planet, coating its rocky hills with a constant red that masks the spilt blood of the heroes who defend it from tyranny.
~ Official Description

Crimsica is one of the three planets that reside within the Draco Sector. Its landscape is scattered with rocky biomes topped with crimson grass.

Topography[ | ]

Crimsica's topography consists of large, open swaths of rocky hills, intersected by large mountain ranges. Its only flora is the crimson red algae which covers most of its surface. It is devoid of trees or any other large flora. The surface is lightly covered in a medium-thick greenish-gray fog, which somewhat reduces visibility. It is also prone to sudden bursts of rainshowers.

Its geography is mostly mountainous stretches of rocky terrain, with both small and large hilltops covered in boulders. While Crimsica does have oceans, they are uncommon and are often surrounded by large cliffs.

History[ | ]

Special Military Operations prior to the Second Galactic War[ | ]

Operation CBCT Protection[ | ]

Crimsica, like neighboring Estanu and the rest of the Draco Sector, was largely unreachable by the SEAF until the successful installation of the Terminid Control System (TCS). Shortly after Operation Prime Liberation, Civilian Biomass Collection Teams (BCTs) were deployed to Crimsica to gather and process inert Terminids for research. The Helldivers were tasked with liberating the planet to protect them, which they did effortlessly.

After the withdrawal of both BCTs and Helldivers, Crimsica fell back into the Terminids' claws. The planet became a low-priority target as SEAF personnel were shifted to other areas, defending against Terminid offensives on neighbouring Estanu and participating in Operation Swift Disassembly against Automatons in the Xzar and Severin Sectors.

Operation Rearing[ | ]

Once Operation Swift Disassembly concluded, Super Earth High Command took steps toward the provision of more efficient services, which required condtructing improved E-710 plants. Crimsica, alongside Hellmire and neighbouring Estanu, was selected as one of the recipients of these new farms.

Despite the operation's success, the peace would not last. As the Automaton Invasion of Cyberstan reignited the Western Front, Crimsica continued to be assaulted by the fascistic insectoids. It was the site of much of the slaughter during Operation Organic Harvest, in which the Helldivers valiantly and mercilessly exterminated two billion Terminids in under 24 hours.

During Operation Enduring Bulwark, Crimsica and neighboring Estanu saw the conducting of constant liberation and defensive operations. Despite the indescribable suffering and destruction caused by the Terminid menace, the colonists of Crimsica would not yield, not once faltering in the face of the mindless, ravenous insect hordes.

Failure of the Terminid Control System[ | ]

After the unexpected failure of the TCS, the Draco System was sadly overwhelmed by the reinforced bug onslaught. After evacuating the surviving colonists, Super Earth was forced to withdraw from the Draco Sector, with Crimsica being lost to the fascist menace.

Second Galactic War[ | ]

Operation Enduring Peace[ | ]

Crimsica and the Draco Sector remained under Terminid occupation through the month of May 2184, with the planet seeing serious damage to its environment. However, the horrors would not last, as Crimsica's salvation would come from an unlikely source. On May 30th, the Helldivers would make use of a new superweapon in order to destroy the Terminid Supercolony: The Dark Fluid.

Immediately after Meridia was destroyed, the Helldivers opened two fronts for a counterattack on the Draco and Mirin Sectors: One being a liberation campaign on Hellmire, the other being simultaneous liberation efforts on both Crimsica and Estanu.

Operation Hive Breaker[ | ]

After reestablishing freedom on the Umlaut Sector and some much needed victories on the Automaton Front, the Helldivers would receive a major order requiring the liberation of 5 planets: Hellmire, Fori Prime, Nivel 43, Estanu and Crimsica. Crimsica would be fortunate enough to be chosen as the first planet to be liberated from the fascist alien insectoids, with its liberation arriving on June 16th.

Falstaff and Jin Xi Lockdown[ | ]

However, it would not last for long. Fori Prime, always rebellious and very resistant to Liberty, would fall sometime around June 28th and then, almost by instinct, would send a Terminid spore barrage right towards Crimsica, where it made landfall on June 29th. The Helldivers, focused on securing the neighboring sector of Jin Xi at the time, could not heed its calls for aid and, comprehensively, Crimsica would fall once more, remaining under Terminid control since.

Operation Starslayer[ | ]

During Operation Starslayer onwards, Crimsica would remain under Terminid control, causing further complications in the Terminid front. During the final week of June and the first 2 weeks of August, Crimsica's brood of Terminids would make repeated attempts to invade Acamar IV, none of them succeeding and, at a certain point, allowing the Helldivers to push back into Crimsica, getting it all the way up to 98% liberation before Operations Liberty Crush and Vengeful Cleansing ordered the Helldivers away, sparing the Terminids in Crimsica from obliteration at the last minute.

Operation Prometheus[ | ]

However, showing mercy to the fascistic insects would, as always, prove to be a grave mistake. When the Helldivers did an extraordinary display of mercy, the Bugs spat on Liberty's face and launched an assault onto Estanu on August 13th, now being bolstered by the malevolent Gloom, its putrid aura of intergalactic Terminid spores apparently giving them more fuel to the fire that is their innate hatred for Freedom. With the Automaton Front being in a more stable position and with Socorro III having been successfully rescued from the bugs, Super Earth High Command would issue a major order requesting the collection of 10 million Rare or Super Rare samples on Crimsica.

However, as always, treason would spell doom for Crimsica. Not even 30 minutes into Operation Prometheus, traitors submitted a high number of counterfeit samples, provoking the abortion of the Operation and snatching Crimsica's chance for liberation out of its grip since now that the Helldivers didn't have any orders, they chose to divert towards the defense of Estanu, leaving Crimsica's liberation to lose all of its progress.

Operation Brute Force[ | ]

Crimsica would have to endure another 4 days of horros as, while the Helldivers were diverted towards Troost and Vandalon IV, they also had to help defend and repel Terminid attacks on other planets, which pretty much left Crimsica helpless. However, its chance for liberty would soon appear, as the Helldivers would be promptly turned back towards the Terminid Front in order to contain the ever-growing Gloom, which was now growing uncontrollably.

On August 22nd, Crimsica would be finally liberated from Terminid occupation, which helped prevent further Gloom expansion.

Operation Ring of Freedom[ | ]

Crimsica remained a stalwart frontier world against the Terminids ever since its liberation, being right at the edge of the Gloom in the Draco Sector yet experiencing an uneasy armed peace, as Fori Prime's unknown status still presented a threat to its safety. Its proximity to Turing, the site of a newly built Xenoentomology Center devoted to the creation of new Alcubierre Drives for the Democracy Space Station, and its direct FTL line to Acamar IV, which was designated to be the new Terminid Research Preserve, meant that Crimsica would be designated as a priority target for the Helldivers during Operation Ring of Freedom.

Crimsica would be suddenly attacked from within the Gloom on October 16th, alongside Estanu. Given Crimsica's connection to Acamar IV, the Terminids would concentrate mostly on attempting to capture Crimsica, which meant that the Helldivers were forced to abandon Estanu to its own devices. Crimsica would be successfully defended on October 17th, after heavy casualties and 22 hours of fighting.

Operation Courageous Exodus[ | ]

With Crimsica secured, the Terminid Research Preserve could continue its work unimpeded. However, this situation would not last long. Following the apparition of the Jet Brigade on the Automaton Front, Gacrux and Pandion-XXIV would fall, which left Acamar IV exposed to the Gloom's influence. However, the Helldivers would manage to plug this gap before any significant damages were made by the bugs.

Despite this, the Terminids would redouble their efforts and, aided by a spore surge from within the Gloom, would launch a massive offensive onto the Barrier Planets. On November 7th, shortly after the fall of Esker, Crimsica would be assaulted alongside Estanu, the Terminids still determined to breach the Terminid Research Preserve.

For the first 18 hours of the assault, it looked like Crimsica had been abandoned to its own devices by the Helldivers, as the bugs made tremendous advances. However, once Estanu fell, the Helldivers began to relocate to Crimsica immediately as the Bugs had begun the final, slower phase of their assault. The defense was tense and chaotic, as the Helldivers rushed to take over crucial positions in Crimsica as quickly as possible, scuttling several Super Destroyers in the process in order for the crashing wrecks to take out as many of the fascist insectoids as possible.

After 4 hours of intense orbital bombardments and on-the-ground combat, the Helldivers managed to miraculously repel the assault less than 30 minutes before the Terminids managed to reach the threshold of fascism necessary to take over Crimsica.

Operation Spark of Liberty[ | ]

Crimsica would remain free following its liberation, as the Terminids had been seemingly repelled and they made no additional attempts on Crimsica. However, beyond its sector's borders, Crimsica's perdition had been brewing all along.

On November 12th, in the middle of a busy day for the Tyranny Park, a massive underground Terminid hive erupted spontaneously, leading to a bloody massacre of visitors and park staff alike. Acamar IV was overrun in mere minutes, which prevented the nuclear security measures from being activated and allowed the Terminids to take over the planet without any impediment. Once Acamar IV fell, it launched 5 simultaneous attacks onto all of the planets connected to it. This catastrophe could not have been any more poorly timed, as the Jet Brigade had also just returned in massive numbers and destroyed the DSS Logistics Hub on Tarsh.

The painting was clear on the wall that the Helldivers had to act quick before more damage had to be done. Despite Acamar's positioning, High Command gave the indication to protect the Xenoentomology Center at Turing by all means, as it still contained critical research material on the Terminids, pretty much dooming Acamar IV and all of its attached planets to perdition.

Expectedly, with the Helldivers focused on saving the critical research material at Turing, Crimsica would be lost to the Terminids by the afternoon of the following day, in a massive disaster that took millions of lives and undid all the progress achieved in the past 3 months.

Operation Balance of Liberty[ | ]

Following the disaster at Acamar IV, Crimsica was left to fall to the Terminid invasion, as the Helldivers had to return to the Automaton front in order to secure the DSS. For 9 days, Crimsica was stuck in a deadlock, as the Helldivers battled against the Terminids at Acamar IV and the Jet Brigade at Gaellivare. It wouldn't be until the liberation of Imber on November 20th that the Helldivers would finally be able to resume containment missions back in the Terminid Front.

Given Crimsica's symbolic status within the Helldiver Corps as a twin planet to Estanu, the Helldivers would choose to deploy the main fleet and the Democracy Space Station on it first, even enacting an Orbital Blockade as an additional preventive measure. After 24 hours of grueling combat, Crimsica would be liberated once again.
