==History== ===Second Galactic War === ====Operation Titanium Belt==== Claorell was, up until September 2184, a peaceful lunar colony of Super Earth that relied on the export of many minerals valuable to the main industrial sectors of Super Earth. However, the Automatons, boundless in their greed, would not spare Claorell from the horrors of war in their quest to capture Imber's titanium deposits. On September 11th, after a couple tactical miscalculations by the Helldivers gave the Automatons control of Gaellivare and Vog-Sojoth, the Automatons would make one final push towards Imber by sending a dual assault from the two previously mentioned planets, with Claorell being the second planet to be assaulted. The Helldivers would be forced to leave Claorell to its own devices, as the Colonial Overseer scrambled to mount a defense with the weapons the planet already had and with the few Helldivers that did turn up for support. During the first 16 hours of the defense, the situation looked lost. But a spark of hope would glimmer in the horizon as the Helldivers, in a glorious display of democratic fervour, would crush the attack at Imber after just 14 hours then began to immediately redeploy onto Claorell, beginning to turn the situation around, with less that 4 hours remaining before the planet's defenses caved in. Claorell would be spared and the order would be won, successfully prebventing the Automatons from acquiring Imber's titanium deposits. ====Operation Liberty Tide==== For a week, Claorell's colonists would be able to rest and recover, while the Helldivers were diverted back towards Tarsh and Mastia in order to secure important polystyrine deposits, which allowed for the fleetwide deployment of Orbital Napalm Barrages. However, shortly after, the Helldivers would be forced to draw a huge chunk of their available forces towards the Terminid front, due to difficulties faced at Pandion-XXIV and Gatria. As such, the Automatons at neighbouring Vog-Sojoth found an opportunity to easily cut off Helldiver access to their garrison and, on September 18th, sent dual attacks onto both Clasa and Claorell. Due to the logistical struggles related to the unusually resilient Terminid hives at Pandion, both Clasa and Claorell were overwhelmed by the incoming Automaton forces, as there weren't enough Helldivers to help repel them. Claorell would fall but, surprisingly, the bots would not occupy it, instead opting to concentrate their forces at Clasa in order to expand further into the Tanis Sector. As such, the Helldivers spotted a unique opportunity to take back Claorell, seeing as it was left underdefended. It would be reliberated on September 22nd, shortly before the liberation of Trandor allowed for more manpower to be available. However, this would not be the last time Claorell would see action, as the Automatons immediately launched an attack onto Claorell during the night of September 23rd. This attack would prove successful, as the Helldivers would be unable to provide support due to a newly issued major order. ====Operation Leap Forward==== During Operation Leap Forward, the Helldivers had to concentrate almost exclusively on the liberation of Gaellivare. This meant that the fall of Claorell was a sacrifice that had to be undertaken for the greater good. With Imber having fallen days prior, Claorell's defense collapsed and, subsequently, became completely unable to be liberated, as its supply lines all led to Automaton-controlled planets. ====Operation Freedom's Forge==== For the past several weeks, development of the Democracy Space Station has proceeded on-schedule. However the next step to construct the powerful battle station is the establishment of the Deep Mantle Forge Complex. This Deep Mantle Forge will use extreme heat and pressure near a planet's core to create an extremely strong and ductile chronium-cobalt-nickel alloy. The powerful alloy will be required to withstand the acceleration of the immense DSS to warp speeds. Super Earth was able to identify -- based on atmospheric readings -- that the Automatons were already engaged in deep-mantle mining operations on the moon of Claorell. Thus liberating their mining tunnels and repurposing their facilities became top priority, as it would greatly accelerate the construction of the Deep Mantle Forge. Further, it would deny the Automatons their own access to the high-cost mine network, and reveal insight into their larger intentions. Thus the Helldivers are directed to liberate Claorell and its deep-mantle mining complex from the Automatons. After 2 days of battling, Imber's defenses collapsed, allowing for its swift liberation, whichthen allowed the Helldivers to move onto Claorell with haste. With merely hours to spare, the Helldivers spared no bullet in liberating the barren moon, managing to liberate it on October 7th, mere hours before the Automatons managed to bring reinforcements onto the planet and securing the tunnel system for Super Earth's miners to build the Deep Mantle Forge Complex, which will allow for the creation of a brand new alloy that will permit the DSS to withstand FTL Warp Jumps. However, it was also discovered that the Automatons were also developing new alloys in these tunnels in order to create new types of armor plating. More on this development is being investigated by the Ministry of Intelligence. ====Operation Bulwark of Democracy==== The colonists at Claorell would have to come back right into the heat of the battle. Even after its peaceful and righteous liberation, the Automatons refused to concede and, as such, mounted an offensive with the intent of retaking Claorell and its deep space mining complexes. Fittingly, Super Earth High Command ordered for Claorell to be defended, as well as for the Helldivers to hold the line against the Automaton menace while the Deep Space Forge Complex was under construction. On October 8th, the already tried and tested colonists of Claorell had to take on the role of miners and frontline soldiers, fighting shoulder to shoulder with both Colonial Defense soldiers and Helldivers alike, hurling super-dynamite at the mechanized Hulks and impaling the evil Devastators with their shovels. By October 9th, Claorell had been defended against the Automatons, allowing the colonists to take a break and resume their democratic work while the Helldivers moved on to defend other planets from the robotic menace. In the early hours of October 10th, Claorell was attacked again. However, once more, the Helldivers would mobilize en masse in order to defend what rightfully belonged to the citizens of Super Earth. After an entire day defending, the Helldivers would successfully repel the second attack onto Claorell with minimal casualties, while also dealing a heavy blow to the robotic offenders. ====Operation Adamant Resolve==== Claorell would remain under Freedom's control ever since its last assault, its Deep Mantle Forge burning bright as it churned out batch after batch of chromium-cobalt-nickel (CCN) alloy plates as the Democracy Space Station began to undergo its construction, with the planet's economy seeing a massive boost and an influx of new colonists. Having been denied of such wonderful prosperity, the Automatons began to scheme. Claorell was free itself, but its neighboring planets in the Tanis Sector were all still in bondage under the occupation of the socialist machines. As such, it was only a matter of time before the Automatons turned their eyes towards Claorell once more. On October 28th, the Automatons began to expand further into the Tanis Sector, as well as into the neighboring Gellert Sector to the galactic north. However, once the Automatons were successfully repelled at Zzaniah Prime on October 31st, and then rebuked once again at Demiurg on November 1st. This left the Automatons with only one place left to go before they ran out of options to expand in the Tanis Sector, a planet that they had already failed to hold several times: Claorell. Shortly after the successful defense at Demiurg, the Automatons at Clasa, using the remainder of their forces, would send out an attack at Claorell. Knowing that the loss of the Deep Mantle Forge Complex would delay the completion of the Democracy Space Station, the Helldivers immediately deviated the majority of the corps towards the defense of the planet, which would make the initial defensive operations much easier for the SEAF. After 16 hours of fighting, the Helldivers would successfully drive the Automatons off Claorell once more, keeping the Deep Mantle Forge Complex safe. ==== Operation Twin Defender ==== Since its final defense in late October, Claorell wouldn't see any further action into 2185. Its Deep Mantle Forge Complex churned forward with progress, watching the completion of the DSS while also supplying the Helldivers with fresh supplies in the form of temporary fleetwide stratagem usage now and again. In the meantime, the bots of the Tanis Sector remained deviously quiet, not attempting any further assaults on the heavily defended planet. As a whole, any efforts out West would remain fairly stagnant as the return of the Illuminate and the movement of the Meridian Singularity toward Super Earth necessitated an all-hands-on-deck effort to drive back the xenophobic squid menace. At the beginning of March 2185, the Automaton front would explode into heavy conflict. In the span of 12 hours, the bots would launch three powerful assaults on Meissa, Blistica, and Chort Bay across the Ymir, Gellert, and Lacaille Sectors. The bulk of their forces would fall on Meissa and Chort Bay, with a smaller but still significant invasion fleet causing damage to the hellish Blistica north of Claorell. While the plurality of the Helldiver Corps would mobilize toward Meissa, the powerful level 16 invasion level grew too difficult to overcome with the bots building a significant lead in the time it took the Helldivers to deploy to the planet. Overall, it appeared the Corps was too split to win any of the campaigns. The bots wouldn't just stop at those 3 planets. On March 3rd, less than 2 hours before the fall of Meissa, the Automatons of Vog-Sojoth dispatched a vicious, mammoth 38 battalions toward the Deep Mantle Forge Complex on Claorell- their 4th assault in just 22 hours, with this easily being the strongest of the ongoing bot incursions. The massive assault on the Complex spelled trouble for the Helldivers, the veterans of the Corps knowing how important the planet was to the war effort as it enabled the majority of the construction of the DSS. However, simultaneously, the imminent threat of the freight-train like Meridian Singularity had its hungry eyes set on its next victim to destroy: Moradesh, a planet home to top-secret scientific efforts which are critical to countering bug and squid threats alike in the East. Seeing this attack from both fronts, High Command issued an Order granting the Helldivers a tough decision to make: whether to hold Claorell at any cost, or to repel the ongoing Illuminate invasions to delay Moradesh's destructive fate. All Helldivers would deploy to both fronts, which left the defenses at Meissa, Blistica, and Chort Bay to be even more undermanned than they already were. The latest fight for Claorell would be its toughest and by far its bloodiest. The Helldivers deployed to the planet fought tooth and nail to take control of the planet knowing that losing the Complex to the Automatons would grant them too valuable a resource for their despotic schemes. However, with how powerful and cowardly the surprise assault is, the Helldivers so far have yet to overtake the Automaton invaders who continue to inch closer to controlling the planet. At around 5 AM-SEST, the DSS's Orbital Blockade activated on the planet to aid the defense efforts. Despite boosting the Helldivers on the ground, the situation began to look more and more untenable with the bots simply unable to be overtaken. They continued to take more and more ground while the Helldivers' defense gradually lost steam. With less than 9 hours before the defenses would break, the planet became increasingly imperiled. By the afternoon of March 4th, Claorell would have fallen. With the situation at the Illuminate front having progressed little, the Helldivers opted to concentrate their forces on Claorell to immediately launch a counter-offensive and retake the planet. For 48 hours, the Helldivers fought back against the Automatons at Claorell and, on March 6th, retook the planet from the Automatons. However, this victory over the Automatons would be short lived as, because of the neglection of the Illuminate front, the Meridian Singularity would be powered enough to reach and destroy Moradesh. Additionally, tacticians in Helldiver Tactical Command have speculated that during their 2 days of control, the Automatons utilized the industrial complex to rapidly build Incineration Corps in secret, which they then later deployed during their renewed offensive later in the month. Despite all this, Claorell's Deep Mantle Forge Complex would be secured and its citizens would be able to return to their homes and liberty-inducing labour once again. ==== Operation Crew Downtime Adjustment ==== After the DSS proved it's worth during the now famed defense of Pöpli IX, enhancing the battlestation's capabilities would become top priority. The engineers at the Deep Mantle Forge Complex on Claorell would finalize plans for two potential developments for the battlestation on the 7th of April, 2185, each of which would enhance the station's passive boost to operation impact whilst orbiting a planet. The first potential upgrade would be an Exosuit Support Bay, which would reduce the cooldown of all Exosuit Stratagems by 35%, but would require the liberation of Automaton Factories on Wezen. The second meanwhile would be an Expanded Convocation Bay, which would reduce the cooldown of Eagle Re-Arm by 15%, but would require the liberation of Trandor from the Terminids as part of a mutually beneficial agreement with Admiral Defense. Though there was only a limited window to liberate one of these planets, High Command had the complete and unreserved confidence that the Helldivers would make the best choice for galactic security. ==== Operation Omens Undone ==== After the Helldivers chose to liberate Wezen from the Automatons, the hard workers on Claorell went on undisturbed, continuing their forgery to aid the war effort. The workers at Claorell quickly developed how the DSS could reduce Exosuit cooldowns, aiding the war on the ground. The Automaton front remained quiet as a whole, with the Helldivers forced to turn their attention to the East as the Illuminate launched a brazen attack across the Federation's critical infrastructure, targeting Fenrir III and Turing. As a result of the attack on Turing, the Xenoentomology Centre suffered a massive breach with highly secured Terminid specimens, and as a result, a massive Predator Strain outbreak instantly collapsed the planet's defenses. The Helldivers were thus ordered to liberate Turing from the Terminids while also defending against the Illuminate raids on Super Earth's critical centers to the war effort. During the Order, the Helldivers were not tasked with fully defending against Illuminate invasions, but rather completing operations against the Illuminate on invaded planets. As such, the Helldivers largely struggled to repel Illuminate attacks, instead focusing more of their attention on liberating an extremely resistant Terminid strain on Turing. Unfortunately, this meant that on April 27, when the Illuminate attacked Claorell, the Helldivers were not able to repel the attack. As such, the planet was left in disarray, with its war supplies depleted and its infrastructure severely damaged. Even worse, lurking in the background, a familiar robot menace prepared to take advantage. The Automatons, studious and devious as ever, became aware of the Illuminate raid on the planet and immediately began to build up their forces on Clasa. Then, on April 28, the bots launched an attack on Claorell that would take just 12 hours to collapse its defenses. The Helldivers, with more manpower diverted toward the liberation of Turing, failed to turn up in enough numbers to repel the attack as the planet fell early the next morning. To make matters worse, the Automatons were extremely swift in fortifying the planet, immediately High Command's index showing the bots had a staggering 3% enemy resistance rate on the world. ==== Operation Damage Control ==== Luckily, Claorell's chance at freedom came nearly as quickly as it fell. Hours after the planet fell, the Illuminate would disappear from the galaxy, utterly defeated by Super Earth's superior scientific and military prowess. As such, amidst the chaos caused by their raids on our infrastructure, High Command issued a new Order for the Helldivers to take back our critical centers, including Claorell. During the initial days of the Operation, the Helldivers chose to liberate the less fortified Mastia and Achernar Secundus, leaving Claorell for later. With Fenrir and Turing already held, the Helldivers then deployed en masse to Claorell, trying to make some level of progress against the unusually resistant Automaton vanguard on the world. Unfortunately, with the MO seemingly going well, catastrophe was on the horizon. On May 1, during the early nighttime hours, a rebuilt Automaton Incineration Corps suddenly resurfaced on the Automaton-controlled Penta amidst an ongoing Predator Strain attack on Terrek. They were then spotted moving to Lesath, seemingly preparing to use the planet as their staging ground. 2 hours after being spotted, the Incineration Corps launched two powerful assaults on Vernen Wells and Vog-Sojoth. That wouldn't be all, however, as a third division of the Incineration Corps moved from Lesath to Gaellivare, seeking to use the jungle world as another pivot to launch another attack. It seemed that the Corps was planning to launch an attack on the just-liberated Mastia, but in a moment of true deviousness, the Corps pulled a shocking maneuver and began to attack Claorell's southern flank on planet Imber. Claorell was now in serious trouble. If the Automatons captured both Imber and Vog-Sojoth, Claorell would be cut off from the FTL network and would force the Helldivers present on the planet to retreat. Surely, either one of the two defense campaigns had to be won to save the ongoing operations to free the Deep Mantle Forge Complex. Instead, what would follow was 24 hours of a painful defeat. Despite the Helldivers activating the DSS Eagle Storm on Claorell, which could be used to halt enemy progress in the ongoing attacks on Imber or Vog-Sojoth, a bizarre sequence of events would follow. In a massive blunder, the Helldivers opted not to send the Eagle Storm onto either Vog-Sojoth or Imber, and essentially left both planet's defenses severely undermanned. Despite a significant number of Helldivers liberating Claorell, the chances of the planet being liberated before both defense campaigns failed seemed extremely slim. Sure enough, the Automatons' brazen gambit attempt somehow went successfully. All 3 of Vernen Wells, Imber, and Vog-Sojoth fell by the next day, officially ending the liberation efforts on Claorell and forcing the Helldivers to retreat in what is quickly being regarded as a most shameful SEAF defeat. With the Operation now in serious jeopardy, the Helldivers were forced to withdraw to Imber, attempting to re-liberate against a staunch Automaton Incineration Corps Vanguard present on the already hellish planet. Imber was retaken on May 5th, and Helldivers en-massed jumped back to Claorell. Unfortunately, time allocated for this major order has expired on afternoon, resulting in a defeat. Helldivers focus remained on Claorell until announcement of Operation Equilibrium, which forced divers to attend other worlds. As it stands, Automatons are in full control of Deep Mantle Forge Complex. ==== Operation Equilibrium ==== On May 7th, Jet Brigade has been detected on this planet after their retreat from Tarsh the same day. It is suspected that they are rebuilding their forces before starting another attack. Democracy Space Station has been directed to Claorell by divers both eager to decommission the brigade, and liberate the Forge Complex from their cold metal vice. Jet Brigade proceeded to show their true cowardly faces, and escape to neighboring Clasa system. Shortly after this, Claorell was liberated by the Helldivers and soon afterwards, faced an attack by the Automatons which was repelled. ==== Operation Party Crasher ==== During Operation Party Crasher which sought to thin the numbers of the Illuminate invasion fleet, The DSS was engaged on Pilen V and while the station was not destroyed, it was heavily damaged and in order to avoid further damage, the station jumped to Claorell for repairs. ==== Operation Drydock Lockout ==== On July 15th, 2185, the Automatons would launch multiple simultaneous assaults on planets with highly-populated Super Earth cities. Ministry of Intelligence analysis reported with a high degree of confidence that the strategic objective of this invasion is to take control of key Democracy Space Station facilities. These being the Deep Mantle Forge Complex on Claorell, the old DSS Logistics Hub on Tarsh and the original DSS Construction Site on Gaellivare. It was quite evident the enemy intended to destabilize the capacity of the highly-effective DSS, and possibly turn our facilities to their own socialist aims. Furthermore, enemy troop movements indicated that this was only the first of several planned waves of attack, with additional invasions are anticipated. Ministry of Intelligence analysis also reported with an extremely high degree of confidence that the Automatons also intend to wantonly murder as many innocent civilians as possible. Thus the Helldivers were ordered to immediately report to the defense of all assaulted planets. Prevent the capture of our cities and bloodthirsty violence against our civilians, and hold the key DSS facilities at all costs. The Automatons would direct their first strike towards Claorell system, descending upon the it in yet unseen numbers on morning of July 15th. With it, begun the long fight for the only Mega City on the surface - the planetary capital of Zenith. For the first time during Second Galactic War, Automatons would march directly into population center of this density. During this assault, Automatons would deploy a new unit - The War Strider: A Bipedal mech capable of sustained heavy laser fire, as well as pair of grenade launchers for area denial. At the same time, systems of Varylia and Julheim would fall under attack by smaller contingents of automatons. With all focus on the objective of Major Order, only skeleton crews were left to defend those. Automatons were quick to entrench any section of city they would take control of - both light and bulk fabricators were tactically placed in entrenched positions amongst the high rise buildings, while raising their flags onto them. In the same concrete labyrinths, both Jammers and Detector Towers were also erected. After the first contact shock has passed, Helldivers went to work, and Automatons were pushed out of Zenith on 3:38 (AM) SEST time. It was also during this time when the Strategic Opportunity on Oasis arose, opening a possibility for an advantage over Automaton assault. Despite the sheer scale of the attack, victory in Zenith by Helldivers has shattered the offensive, and planet has been declared free on morning of July 16th. With the initial success, Helldivers quickly redeployed for similar defense of Tarsh on the same day, where situation became much more complicated. Eventually, the Automatons have returned to Claorell one more time on July 18th, this time spearheaded by the recently spotted Incineration Corps. With Helldivers still in heavy fight on nearby Gaellivare, and an even bigger attack size, victory would require a miracle - a one that would never come. Claorell fell on July 20th, and with it, the Deep Mantle Forge Complex. With its loss, for next 72 hours the resource requirements for all DSS actions would be increased by 25%. ==== Operation Culling Nightmares ==== However, the failure of Operation Drydock Lockout would not be the end of the battle in Claorell. Despite the failure to liberate it, many Helldivers would persist and press on the counteroffensive at Zenith. And their efforts would soon seem to be well worth their price as, soon enough, High Command would issue a major order focused on the elimination of those foes that most frequently plagued the dreams of the innocent citizens of Super Earth, including the Automaton Factory Strider. With this new major order, the Helldivers would now have another important incentive to keep the fight going at Claorell. With the liberation of Gaellivare on July 23rd, the Helldivers would be able to restore the DSS' tactical actions back to their normal resource requirements, which would soon pay off in spades by allowing the Heavy Orbital Bombardment to become active and allow the Helldivers to gain significant ground on Claorell. Zenith would be liberated hours later, delivering a heavy blow to the Automatons that, if not for a sudden attack by the Illuminate at both Alamak VII; a crucial urban core in the Hanzo Sector, and New Stockholm; the headquarters of Stähl Arms; the Helldivers would have been able to capitalize on. Nevertheless, the Helldivers pressed on the offensive. By July 25th, the Helldivers would successfully liberate the city of Quasar, driving back the Incineration Corps that, because of the diversion of manpower towards the Illuminate attacks, were now advancing once again. Within hours, the Helldivers would finally approach the outskirts of the last Automaton stronghold on the planet at the city of Majosyri, which if liberated would mean the decapitation of the Automaton Garrison's command structure and would catapult Claorell towards its final liberation. Majosyri would eventually be liberated on July 27 at roughly 5:15 AM-SEST. Many Helldivers would rejoice at this latest development- only to realize that the planet's liberation index only stood at 64%. During the Helldivers' righteous liberation efforts on all 3 cities, the Automatons would be just powerful enough on the planet to slowly drag down their liberation progress in between the major boosts in progress granted by freeing each city. As such, whilst the liberation of each city was ongoing, the bots would essentially undo much of the boosts that were made on the ground. Further, liberation indexes had shown that the Automatons had increased their resistance rate at least twice on the planet between July 25-26 (0.68 --> 1.14), further aiding their ability to hinder Helldiver liberation progress. In total, by liberating all 3 cities, the Helldivers should have gained roughly 94-95% of the liberation progress total on the planet. Instead, their net gain only stood at 64%, indicating that the Automatons had essentially taken back nearly a third of what was gained within that timeframe alone. Now, even with all 3 cities liberated, the Helldivers continued to slowly lose progress to the Automatons. By the time the Illuminate unleashed a vicious assault on Valmox just hours after Majosyri's liberation, Claorell's liberation progress had fallen to 61%. Many Helldivers would flock to the defense of Valmox, however after six hours it became clear that the planet was lost with many Helldivers returning to Claorell to liberate the Deep Mantle Forge Complex. This would coincide with a notable drop in the Automatons resistance (0.91 --> 0.68), likely due to extensive fighting throughout the previous week, and by midnight of the 28th of July, planetary liberation progress had risen to 72%. Assuming the socialist toasters didn't have any tricks up their non-existent sleeves, Claorell will be liberated within the next two days. Even with the major manpower drain that would be the failed defense of Valmox, the AutomatonsAutomatons stood no chance on Claorell, and it is likely for this reason that the Incineration Corps would abandon the planet -- leaving the occupation to regular Automaton forces. With the completion of Operation Culling Nightmares' objective to eliminate 750,000 Leviathans, High Command would allow the HelldiversHelldivers free usage of the EXO-45 Patriot Exosuit for the remaining 8 hours of the operation. With Claorell seeing a surge of Factory Strider reports and the only remaining Major Order objective being the destruction of 6,250,000 Factory Striders, Claorell became the focal point of the Helldiver Corps', where they delivered great devastation upon the occupying Automatons. Though it would be close (with less than an hour remaining) Operation Culling Nightmares would be completed successfully on time, against all prior projections. While Claorell wouldn't be liberated during the operation, the devastation dealt to Automaton forces because of it would see resistance levels deteriorate (0.45 --> 0.23) as the number of Factory Striders on the planet return to normal levels and, eventually, allowed the Helldivers to liberate Claorell and the Deep Mantle Forge Complex a mere couple hours later (8:15 PM SEST, 29th of July).
