Choepessa IV is a cold, desolate graveyard of colossal bones and moss-covered rock which covers most of the surface of this planet. However, certain geological and historical records indicate that the climate of this world was not always so bleak and that during the First Galactic War, Choepessa IV was a lush jungle world covered in vibrant vegetation and large bodies of liquid water.[1]
The frozen wastes of Choepessa IV, once a lush jungle full of life.
During the First Galactic War, the planet was overrun by the Terminids, but thanks to the valiant efforts of the Helldivers the planet was not only liberated but also blessed with large deposits of Element-710, which can still be found buried under its surface to this day. Indeed, so much ordnance was detonated during the planet's liberation that its sun was occluded by ash for an entire lunar cycle.[2]
However in the century between the Galactic Wars, the
Ministry of Science noted a rapid shift in the planet's climate from tropical humidity to sub arctic because of the occlusion of its sun due to debris from orbital bombardment. Less sunlight reached the northern latitudes and temperatures dropped significantly, causing the planet's water bodies to freeze, thus expanding the polar glaciers which reflected more sunlight and cooled the planet even further. This glaciation would end up killing 98.7% of native flora and fauna. Certain super-organisms that once inhabited the planet would perish, their dried bones now littering the landscape, serving as a perpetual reminder of the price to pay in the battle for Liberty.
Choepessa IV is home to three Mega Cities that were erected during the Great Democratization. These will be listed up next by tier. Mega City Tiers have no effect on level generation and only serve to determine the city's health pool in the galactic war map. The three Mega Cities on Choepessa IV are the Town of Hiljaisuus, the City of Kalasatama and the planetary capital Mega City of Ydinkeskusta. Besides these three urban centers, Choepessa IV's surface is home to several urban settlements that house its rural population, as well as countless individual dwellings and civilian encampments scattered all across the undeveloped wastelands.
The Choepessa System consists of atleast 4 other planets, which consist of Choepessa IV itself, its moon, an unknown gas giant and an ice giant. By the time of the Second Galactic War, the Choepessa System was now located on the northern end of the Trigon Sector, controlling access into it coming from the Andromeda Sector. This strategic location makes it an important position to defend whenever westward offensives are attempted by the Automatons, as Choepessa IV's fall is often proceeded by an assault onto the key Ustotu System, which is itself a crucial chokepoint controlling access into Vandalon IV and, from it, the Severin Sector.
History[]
First Galactic War[]
Liberation of Choepessa IV[]

| ~ Purifying Eclipse Cape Descripton |
Choepessa IV was first settled during the days prior to the First Galactic War, having been settled when it was found inside of the Kruger Region by settlers with Sector 3 Ancestry. During the First Galactic War, it was a planet with tropical jungles, volcanoes and large bodies of water and, inevitably, the Bugs would spread to it and overrun it, leaving massive deposits of E-710 underneath its surface that, once the Helldivers had contained the Bug outbreak, would be exploited by Super Earth Colonists.
According to the description of the "Purifying Eclipse" cape, so much orbital ordnance was used on during the liberation of the planet that the resulting cloud of debris and ash would occlude its sun for an entire lunar cycle (around a super-month). This heavy bombardment that caused the planet's orbit to shift, turning the once lush jungle world covered in vibrant vegetation into a frozen boneyard.
Second Galactic War[]
A pair of Helldivers advanced towards an abandoned urban settlement in Choepessa IV, now occupied by the
Automaton Legion. September 18th, 2185.
Automaton Reclamation of Cyberstan[]
After the victory over the Bugs at Kepler Prime and the end of the First Galactic War, not much other disturbances would occur on Choepessa IV, as its settlers would now have to adjust to their home planet's climate changing drastically from the warmth of the jungle to the cold woes of the frozen boneyard the war had turned it into. Given the natural movement of planets and galaxies, Choepessa IV would eventually move out of what had once been the Kruger Region and became part of the current Trigon Sector. Between the Galactic Wars, the citizens of Choepessa IV would continue to prosper and, as generations passed, built up their settlements into what would become the cities of Hiljaisuus, Kalasatama and the planetary capital of Ydinkeskusta by 2184.
As the Automatons made their first appearance at the Severin Sector; Choepessa IV remained peaceful, even as neighboring planets such as Ustotu fell prey to the initial Automaton Expeditions. However, peace was not to last. Shortly after Operation Swift Disassembly concluded, a large Automaton Fleet conquered Cyberstan and the rest of the Valdis Sector, reigniting the conflict on the Western Front. The SEAF scrambled as planets fell to the robotic tide, with Choepessa falling shortly after the Menkent Line had been established.
While it had not yet been lost, mostly thanks to the combined efforts by the Helldivers and the remaining Colonial Defenses, Choepessa IV would become stuck in an asymmetric, low-intensity liberation campaign, as the Helldivers have had to constantly divert resources and attention away from it, and from the Automaton Front at large.
Operation Emancipator[]
Shortly after, Choepessa IV would be a launching pad for the Automatons' attempt at reclaiming their old position, as from it, they would launch an assault into Varylia 5, then onto Ustotu and the rest of the Trigon Sector. While the fall of the Trigon Sector was unable to be prevented, the Helldivers managed to secure the Petafactory in Varilya 5, temporarily preventing the complete takeover of the sector.
Operation Valiant Resistance[]
The victory at Varylia 5 would then launch the Helldivers onto another victory at nearby Wasat. However, while they were occupied with the retrieval of Database One, the bot garrison on Choepessa IV sent a second assault onto Varylia 5, which would be held off successfully. Then, as the Helldivers returned to their rearguard at Vernen Wells to heroically rescue trapped children, the Automatons then launched a third assault that would succeed due to the lack of proper defenses.
From here, the Automatons would reinforce their garrison at Ustotu and take over Troost, completing their odious settlement of the Trigon Sector, as now they had very much secured Vandalon IV.
Operation Righteous Expunge[]
Choepessa IV would remain behind the southern Automaton Vanguard safely from June to Mid July 2184, when the Helldivers would successfully capture Aesir Pass, Marfark, Matar Bay and Martale; which sat right in the middle of a defensive line of planets going from Curia to X-45, the former being a fortified Super Earth forward base and the latter having been secured alongside Meissa during Operation Starslayer. This strategic victory would instantly send all of the Automaton garrisons in the Ymir, Trigon and Andromeda into disarray, rendering them unable to defend themselves against the righteous Helldivers.
Super Earth High Command, with time running out and with the momentum behind them, issued a major order for the liberation of Choepessa IV, alongside with Charbal-VII and Charon Prime. The first planet to be liberated was Charon Prime. Then, Charbal-VII followed. And finally, on July 21, with few hours to spare, Choepessa IV would be liberated, allowing for further liberation throughout the encirclement area.
Operation Tormenta de Fuego[]
Choepessa, along with the rest of the Trigon Sector, remained untouched by the horrific clutches of the War for the rest of 2184. After months of illegal
Automaton occupation, Choepessa's colonists finally had a chance to rebuild everything that was lost under the tyrannical, socialist robot rule. Though their farms and towns had certainly been ransacked, their spirits were never broken. The planet would be rebuilt slowly but surely, and colonists even expanded their small towns into proper colonies.
Into early 2185, Choepessa, along with the rest of the Northwest, would go on untouched. As a whole, the
Automaton front would be quiet for months, with more attention being diverted to the tyranny brought about by both the
Terminids and the resurgent
Illuminate Cult. Additionally, the Automatons would concentrate their expansionist efforts elsewhere, pushing to the far Galactic North by invading the Tanis and Gellert Sectors, leaving the Ymir and Trigon Sectors to enjoy the shield of liberty for now.
Sadly, these fortunes would change in March 2185. Tired of being out of the limelight, the
Automatons, after months of quiet, finally engaged in their expansionist, socialist ways. In a quadra attack, the bots assaulted Meissa, Blistica, Chort Bay, and the
Deep Mantle Forge Complex on Claorell. With the
Helldivers under specific orders to hold Claorell, the other 3 planets had fallen easily into Automaton hands. Most worringly for the West, the Automatons were now once again in the Ymir Sector with their capture of Meissa, bringing them within striking distance of all the worlds they had captured in 2184.
Eventually, the
Automatons would use their position on Meissa to launch further attacks in the Ymir Sector, assaulting Wasat with a powerful invasion fleet and capturing the world on March 14.
Sadly, this wouldn't be the end of the bots' offensive. In fact, it wasn't even the beginning compared to what followed. On March 18,
Automaton warships appeared in massive numbers in the atmospheres of Bekvam III, Martale, and Vega Bay. Worst of all, it seemed that the Automatons had developed a new strike force to replace their temporarily destroyed
Jet Brigade. The new sub-faction was dubbed the Automaton
Incineration Corps, a strike force consisting of Automatons equipped with incendiary bullets, flamethrowers, and heavy pyro-artillery. Now, needing to make a choice, the
Helldivers were issued an emergency order to either gather the necessary E-710 from the
Terminids to activate the Penrose Energy Siphon or halt the massive Automaton advance.
With the
Incineration Corps present on Bekvam III and Martale, most
Helldivers flocked to the defense against the new pyro-bots. As such, the invasion of the snowy Vega Bay by the normal
Automatons was largely ignored, and the planet easily fell into Automaton hands by the next day. Immediately after its fall, the Automatons began racing through the Galactic Northwest by invading Wezen from the just fallen Vega. Once again, with the main Helldiver fleet trying to contain the
Incineration Corps in the Andromeda and Nanos Sectors, Wezen's defense was ignored, and the planet fell easily by the next day.
With the capture of Wezen, the
Automatons were now directly on the doorstep of the Trigon Sector. Worse, in the Andromeda Sector, the Automatons had launched a powerful attack on Charon Prime, putting them on the brink of Choepessa IV itself. It seemed that the long-standing peace of the planet was under severe threat.
On March 20th, with the attack on Charon ongoing, the bots on Wezen wouldn't waste much time in racing onto Choepessa's northern flank, Varylia 5. Once again, with the
Helldivers focused further South, Varylia's defenses stood little chance against the
Automaton invasion fleet, and fell by the 21st.
By the 22nd, the West was in tatters. The
Automatons had essentially retaken the entirety of the Andromeda and Ymir Sectors, and after multiple failed gambit attempts by the
Helldivers, Charon Prime, Charbal-VII, and Dolph had all fallen to the bots, not to mention their numerous gains in the Ymir and Trigon Sectors. With the Helldivers nowhere near the required defense quota for the Order, many began flocking to the Eastern Front to cull the required
Terminids to activate the Penrose Energy Siphon.
With Helldiver support draining out West, and an already ongoing attack on X-45 by the
Automatons in an attempt to take over the entirety of the Ymir Sector that appeared to look like an uncontested Automaton victory, the bots would launch one last assault on Choepessa IV as 11 invasion fleets appeared in its atmosphere.
With the battle for X-45 looking bleak, and with some
Helldivers remaining out West, they began to deploy to Choepessa to try and salvage what was a disastrous defensive stand against the bots. As such, the race for Choepessa seemed close in the early stages of the attack. However, with more and more
Helldivers flocking to the East, support for the defense of Choepessa would drown out, and the
Automatons had seemingly gained too much momentum and morale from all their previous victories to truly be stopped on the planet.
By the next day, the icy planet was on the brink of collapsing. Virtually the broad majority of the Corps had moved on to the
Terminid front to save the Operation from failing, and as such, Choepessa was overrun. The planet fell by 1 AM SEST on March 24, culminating a disastrous defense by the
Helldivers and giving the
Automatons the icing on the cake for their hugely successful offensive.
Operation Capitalized Industry[]

Automaton Command Bunker in Kalasatama. September 18th, 2185.
Strategic Opportunity: Jolly Workhands[]
On September 16th, Decrypted
Automaton communications would reveal the existence of a secretive mining operations underway on Mintoria. With Outpost Alpha in need of both resources and technology for repair and improvement, as well as the bots blatant and illegal usage of tech patented by Federation mining contractors,
Super Earth High Command would declare a new Major Order, calling the
Helldivers to liberate the Ultramafic Mine on Mintoria.
In the meantime the jolly workhands of our weapons manufacturers were eager to help strike back at the Gloom. However, no currently available materiel could be spared to facilitate their proposed increase in productivity. Fortunately High Command was able to locate two alternate sources of materials.
Firstly the still occupied Varylia 5 was home to the original Emancipator Exosuit factory, with underground storage bunkers on the planet possibly still containing Exosuit parts. Secondly the surface of Choepessa IV was still bestrewn with exploded and unexploded ordnance from the first Galactic War, which could be repurposed into Orbital munitions. Thus on the 18th of September, the
Helldivers were ordered to liberate one of these two planets, in order to secure materials for our indefatigable working heroes’ extracurricular initiative...
... or that was the plan laid out by
Super Earth High Command. The
Helldiver Corps -- devoutly focused on the eventual liberation of the whole galaxy as it is -- was currently laser focused on the battle of push towards Zefia and the push towards Mintoria. Nowhere near enough
Helldivers would on Varylia 5 or Choepessa IV to make any real progress towards liberating either planet.
Despite this, a sizeable contingent of Helldivers would deploy on Choepessa IV, favoring it over Varylia. Given the resistance throughout the planet, the Helldivers on Choepessa opted to focus their effort on first securing the city of Kalasatama in order to establish a much needed beachhead for future liberation operations on the planet.
Starting on September 17th, just as the main Helldiver forces captured Zefia and advanced into Mintoria, the Helldivers at Choepessa IV started battling throughout the alleyways and streets of Kalasatama, in hopes that they would manage to liberate the city and, with it, eliminate a sizeable portion of the Automaton forces garrisoned on the planet. The battle would progress slowly but steadily, only delayed due to the lack of manpower but made up for by sheer grit and commitment to duty. The city would finally be captured on the 20th, giving the
S.E.A.F. a much needed foothold, however progress on the rest of the planet would remain painfully slow.
However that same day Mintoria would finally be liberated, with the
Helldiver Corps soon re-orientating themselves towards the liberation of Choepessa IV. But just as they were beginning to make real progress on the 21st,
Terminid sporefall would occur on Hellmire, forcing the corps to put the liberation of Choepessa IV on hold until the bugs could be dealt with.
Recognizing that neither Choepessa IV or Varylia 5 would be liberated in a timely manner, and no additional materials procured for the weapons manufacturers' extracurricular armament initiative,
Super Earth High Command called the minor operation off. For now, the workers‘ hands will remain tragically idle while off the clock, and weapons production will proceed according to schedule.
Never the less the battle for the planet would continue (between sieges on Hellmire and Mintoria). By September 21st, the battle for the planetary capital, Ydinkeskusta, would begin. The
Helldivers would make rapid progress in clearing out the city, but at an enormous cost, especially for the
S.E.A.F. infantry corps. Roughly 33% of the city would be liberated by of the end of the 22nd, with most of the progress being made in the northern and western sectors of the city. Unfortunately the redeployment of
Helldiver Corps to fight the
Illuminate the following day would see
Helldiver numbers plummet, allowing the
Automatons to regain much of their lost ground.
Operation Iridium Rush[]
Choepessa's chance at liberation would have seemingly slipped through its fingers once again. After the missed strategic opportunity, Choepessa would remain under firm Automaton control, as the Helldivers soon had to devote a great deal of manpower to the liberation of Oshaune on October and then to furthering the acquisition of resources for the construction of the
Center for the Containment of Dissidence. The discovery of Automaton mining on planets Fury, Mox and K would soon make Choepessa into a higher importance objective, as it now directly linked with some of the most valuable industrial assets of the
Automaton Legion, but despite this, Choepessa would see no action beyond the passing of the
Incineration Corps on their way towards Julheim.
However, come the Festival of Reckoning 2185, Choepessa IV would be given a festive gift like no other: A chance at liberation. With the Festival of Reckoning 2185 being extended to 14 days instead of the standard 3-day duration, the Helldivers were tasked with liberating as many planets as they could.
Immediately, Helldiver Tactical Command set out to liberate strategically crucial chokepoints throughout the galaxy. First, Duma Tyr so that Borea would be successfully besieged. Paired with the timely liberations of Charon Prime and Julheim, the stage had been set for Choepessa IV to finally be liberated. Even with the loss of Charon Prime after the New Years Day of 2186, Choepessa was poised for greater liberation efforts to begin. And on January 13th, 2186, this new attempt at liberation would begin in earnest.
Following the successful liberation of Vog-Sojoth, as part of a greater strategic opportunity identified by Super Earth High Command, the Helldivers would redirect their forces towards critical planets. While a majority of the Super Destroyer Fleet redeployed onto Crimsica to aid in expediting the conclusion of its 2-month long liberation campaign, the
Democracy Space Station would instead be redeployed onto Choepessa IV, as the
Incineration Corps unit stationed on Charon Prime had many in Helldiver Tactical Command believing that the Automatons were making preparations to use Choepessa to attack any of the Major Order objective planets, which were the Magma Planets recently liberated from the Automatons.
In hopes of preventing any future attacks, the forces deployed on Choepessa IV would immediately start conducting strikes on the city of Kalasatama, hoping to establish a much-needed beachhead for the
S.E.A.F. to commence greater planetary liberation efforts.

Trivia[]
- Assuming that the names of Choepessa IV's three cities -- Hiljaisuus, Kalasatama and Ydinkeskusta -- is not coincidental, then the planet is culturally Finnic or were originally settled by people from Finland.
- Hiljaisuus is a Finnish word that translates to silence in English. It is also a Finnish custom of being in the presence of others for the purpose of sitting in silence, bonding without the need for spoken words and relaxing in the silence in each other’s company.
- Kalasatama is a neighbourhood in the city of Helsinki, Finland.
- Ydinkeskusta is a Finnish word meaning city center.
