Tactics[]
- The Brood Commander is essentially a bigger terminid warrior. While it still only has light armor and can be damaged by any weapon, it is much more resistant to damage, requiring a noticeably greater amount of ammunition to put one down.
- On difficulties 1-3, they can be assigned as a primary mission objective similar to Bile Titans and Chargers.
- Brood Commanders have the ability to summon Warriors and Hive Guards to aid it in battle while also being able to call for bug breaches, which means that if not dispatched in time a Brood Commander will bring in entire swarms to their aid. Staggering a Brood Commander with hard hitting attacks can also disrupt its pheromone release.
- The health pool of a Brood Commander is noticeably larger than the typical Warrior, however being much taller than its usual counterparts, it's much easier to target and neutralize.
- The Brood Commander is typically escorted by a retinue of Warriors and Hive Guards when on patrol.
- Its unarmored front limbs can be destroyed, causing them to move incredibly slow toward their aggressors.
- Similar to a Charger, it can go into a fit of rage and charge directly at a Helldiver. If struck directly from this attack, the Helldiver will be momentarily concussed and knocked over.
- Much like warriors, when a Brood Commander's head is destroyed, it will enter a berserk state where it will gain a short attack and movement speed buff before expiring. The commander however, is blind due to the lack of a head, and so can be rendered completely ineffective by simply dodging to the side as they are only capable homing into your last known location.
- Crippling their legs will also produce similar results.
Trivia[]
- The Brood Commander is named after a similar enemy from the first game. Similar to its counterpart, it is the most dangerous unit of the Terminid general infantry, possessing tough armor in the front and making a berserker sprint towards its enemies when heavily damaged.
