Borea is one of the three planets that reside within the Sagan Sector.
Topography and Astrography[]

Similar to planets like Vandalon IV, Marfark, Vega Bay and Julheim, Borea is, as the name suggests, a cold, desolate, frozen ice planet, although ironically not a Boreal type as it is too far from it's native star. The supercontinental landmass that stretches across the equator of this planet is often interrupted by frozen lakes, rivers, fjords and icebergs. Ongoing operations against the
Cyberstani Occupation have left the icefields of the planet strewn with many undetonated Hellbombs that will detonate if disturbed by any munitions, so all Super Earth military personnel are advice to exercise caution. The low temperatures on Borea reduce the firerate of weapons, while also making weapons reliant on heat sinks accumulate less heat over time and lose heat more rapidly. Additionally, the planet is swept by regular blizzards, which highly reduce visibility for both friendlies and enemies and also significantly hinder mobility.

A particular form of xenoflora found on Borea, although not exclusive to this planet, are plants that will be colloquially referred to as "space artichokes". Space artichokes are, as the name might imply, plants with a striking resemblance to terrestrial artichokes that glow with a bright cyan hue and, when touched or disturbed in any way, violently explode. This explosion only delivers a minor amount of damage (up to around 5% of a Helldiver's HP) but will apply a stun effect similar to that of an Orbital EMS Strike. Additionally, the explosion will leave behind a cloud of residue that will apply this stun effect onto any entity that comes into contact with it. This cloud of residue vanishes after approximately 15 seconds, though it may last longer if multiple space artichokes explode close to one another.
Borea is not home to any Mega Cities or installations of importance to the ongoing Galactic War. However, its surface is home to scattered collections of urbanized settlements that house the majority of its population. These settlements often will contain or be surrounded by abandoned
S.E.A.F. infrastructure, such as Surface-to-Air Missile Batteries, Radar Stations and Artillery emplacements that, should ingenious
Helldivers successfully commandeer them, will prove valuable during a mission. These settlements are also often surrounded by loose individual dwellings, spaceports, farms, Broadcast Stations and cargo transport hubs, among other civilian infrastructure.
The Borea System consists of planet Borea itself and its eponymous star. Besides these 2 astronomical bodies, no other planets, moons or notable astronomical bodies can be seen. Borea's gravity allows it to have a red ring system all around it, just before the planet's Roche limit. As such, it is possible that Borea's gravity is insufficient to allow it to form any moons or other natural satellite bodies.
Although previously of little strategic importance, the Borea System soon became important hub for FTL travel, connecting the Sagan, Marspira, Nanos and Kelvin sectors together through its FTL Lines with Curia, Duma Tyr and Emeria. Borea's direct line to Emeria makes it crucial in all matters regarding the security of
New Aspiration City.
History[]
Second Galactic War[]
Operation Jet Crusade[]
The planet was under
Super Earth control until the 27th of June 2185, when the planet was attacked by the
Automatons, with the support of the Jet Brigade, the attack was originated from the Curia system, that, although the planet was not connected to Borea, an FTL line was established that allowed the attack.
However the valor and unwavering obedience in the initial, brutal engagements on Curia broke the strength of the
Jet Brigade assault. As such, subsequent enemy resistance on Borea was rendered largely ineffective against the might of the ,
S.E.A.F. who reduced the
Jet Brigade to scrap once more... for the time being.
Operation Ultrakill and Festival of Reckoning[]
In late August of 2185, spore outflow from the Gloom would rise to unprecedented levels, causing a massive
Terminid outbreak all along the western galactic fringe. Large formations of the
S.E.A.F. would be redeployed to fight the
Terminid invasion, however this would leave multiple sectors in the eastern and southern fronts lightly defended.
The
Automatons took advantage of this by launching a massive assault, targeting multiple sectors. As part of their offensive towards Emeria, Borea would be attacked on the 27th of August, and would fall once more to the socialist menace 24 hours later. The following occupation would last almost four months, though the planet would briefly become an important site of action after the declaration of War On Dissidence. However true liberation would not come until the festival of reckoning.
Following the liberation of Duma Tyr on the 22nd of December, the
Automation garrison would be cut off from the rest of the evil socialist empire, with a siege campaign launched to retake the planet headed by the
S.E.A.F. with light elements of the
Helldiver Corps (around 2,000 Super Destroyers) and the
Democracy Space Station in support. The last of the
Automation garrison would be annihilated by the Station's Heavy Ordinance at midday on the 24th of December, which was celebrated by the
Ministry of Prosperity issuing discounts on consumer goods federation wide. A Vengeful Reckoning for all!
