Bore Rock is one of the four planets that reside within the Falstaff Sector. This planet resides on the southern border with only one current FTL lines to the nearby planet of Esker. It would also be chosen as the location of Tyranny Park 2, a massive recreational and education facility showcasing the most dire threats posed to Managed Democracy.
Topography[]
A veritable green maze, Bore Rock flora is dense and everpresent. Planet features frequent but small elevation changes from rocky hills into waterlogged channels and reservoirs. Helldivers should exercise caution, as the waters are treacherous. What from distance may look like ankle deep water, is in reality a very deep lake that one can very easy drown in mere seconds after stepping off from the shoreline. The planet is also dotted in ancient fossilized trees, some reaching far above the current tree line. Massive amounts of trees block sight, but due to sheer amount of them, they can be use as reliable cover.
This planet features a network of gas vents, located randomly throughout the surface. Yellowish in color and emiting a green smoke, any kind of fire or bullet ignites it, causing a fiery explosion in their proximity.
History[]
Second Galactic War[]
Operation Falstaff & Jin Xi Lockdown[]
Helldivers would set foot on Bore Rock for the first time during Operation Falstaff & Jin Xi Lockdown, an operation in which many planets within the Falstaff and Jin Xi sectors would experience sudden Terminid outbreaks arising from previous operations.
Bore Rock would be defended in two occasions on June 2184 without much incident occuring.
Operation Glorious Xenocide[]
During Operation Glorious Xenocide, the Terminids at Esker would launch a third assault at Bore Rock, this time succeeding due to the Helldivers' prioritization of other liberation campaigns and their focus on culling as many Terminids as possible.
Operation Benevolent Sanitation[]
After its fall on July 25th, Bore Rock would remain under Terminid control, mainly due to its isolation during that time since its only FTL Line was the one with Esker. However, Bore Rock's salvation would come from an unlikely source: Socorro III, a neighboring planet in its sector which, up until August 6th, had isolated itself and cut all of its supply lines. However, once its SEAF Outer Reconnaisance Outposts were overrun and the distress beacons began to cite new Terminid strains, Super Earth immediately issued a Major Order calling for not just Socorro's defense, but for the establishment of a quarantine zone on both Esker and Bore Rock, which marked the planet for liberation.
Bore Rock would be liberated on August 10th, with pretty much no resistance from the Terminids, as they had been isolated away from the rest of the Terminid broods much like Bore Rock had been cut away from the FTL Network before.
Operation Courageous Exodus[]
Following its final liberation in August, Bore Rock has remained under Super Earth control without much incident, as the Gloom would make the war shift south towards the Jin Xi Sector. During this time, Bore Rock would establish new FTL Lines with Erata Prime and Terrek, finally ending its dangerous reliance on Esker.
However, Bore Rock wouldn't be completely safe as, on November 6th, the Terminids would launch a triple attack aiming to conquer it, alongside Heeth and Esker. Since the operation's focus was the protection of Terrek, Cirrus and Angel's Venture, Heeth would be defended first. Then, with Bore Rock's immediate connection to Terrek at stake, the Helldivers would turn up in massive numbers to aid in the defense of the planet.
However, it would be attacked one final time on November 8th, shortly after the victory at Crimsica. With this miscalculated blunder, the Helldivers would concentrate their forces on Bore Rock, the Terminids increasing their numbers soon after. For 20 hours, the battle carried on throughout the swamps and marshes of the planet as the Helldivers gave everything they had in order to drive the Terminids back into the Gloom. By November 9th, the assault had been repelled and the Terminids had been decisively defeated, their hatcheries collapsing and reducing the resistance levels of nearby planets.
Operation Jetclipper[]
Bore Rock would remain free of any attacks after November 9th, giving its colonists some respite. However, this freedom would be very shortlived as the Helldivers would be ordered away from the Falstaff sector in order to conduct an offensive against the Automatons. With their guard low, the Terminids launched an assault onto Bore Rock on November 28th. The Colonial Defenders would hold their ground, with small Helldiver contingents providing sporadic support. However, the defenses eventually cracked and Bore Rock would fall to the Terminids on November 30th.
Operation Crop Dust[]
On December 5th, 2184, Operation Crop Dust was ordered to all Helldivers. MD-8 Gas Mines needed chlorine, for which an odd disappearance of colonial labor had severely hindered the supply of, bottlenecking the production of the stratagem. In order to rectify that shortage, the Helldivers were ordered to liberate 3 planets identified to be rich in salt-- one of those being Esker, which was inaccessible due to the fall of Bore Rock 5 days earlier. In order to access Esker, the Helldivers needed to liberate Bore Rock. The fight ensued for the next day, with moderate resistance, and on December 7th, 2184, every bug nest was eradicated and Super Earth declared victory over Bore Rock, the light of liberty now embracing the swampy planet once more.
Operation Wormhole Spaguetti[]
Bore Rock would spend the following weeks recovering from its time under Terminid control. However, before long, they would be plunged right back into the heat of the conflict on December 23rd, as the Terminids that had captured Esker immediately went on to attack Bore Rock. However, this move would be poorly timed, as the Helldivers had just finished securing Erata Prime and Fenrir III, the 2 targets of the ongoing major order.
Operation Wild Hunt[]
On the 7th of March, 2185, the Center of Science on Fenrir III, aided by massive amounts of E-710 secured from the Gloom by the Helldivers, would achieve another major breakthrough discovery.
It has been understood for some time that Illuminate accumulation of Dark Energy directly correlates to the speed at which the Singularity moves. But the mechanism has remained a mystery. Now, analysis of gravitational waves has revealed that the Illuminate are sending accumulated Dark Energy directly into the Singularity itself. High Command has therefore ordered the establishment of a (official) blockade surrounding the Meridian Singularity.
Though Illuminate interstellar ships remain undetectable, and their means of Dark Energy transport remains unknown, High Command is nevertheless highly confident that a conventional military blockade is the most effective option that has been thought of at this time. The Helldivers were ordered to aid in resource gathering for the fielding of this massive blockade fleet as billions of gallons of E-710 and tons of scrap metal will be required. This material of course being gathered directly from the enemies of Freedom.
However this massive expansion of the fleet also created supply chain difficulties of an obtuse and tedious nature, which in turn caused significant fixed-wing armament shortages, increasing Eagle re-arm times by as much as 30% fleetwide. Whilst High Command have assured all Helldives and Navy pit crews that the issue will shortly resolve itself and return to normal. At the same time, High Command also suggested that the rapid liberation of the Terminid-infested planet of Bore Rock would provide the fleet with a supply node that would reverse the effect, causing Eagle re-arm times to be 50% faster for the remainder of the major order.
Sure enough Bore Rock would be officially liberated just after midnight on the 12th of March, its recapture from the Terminids causing supply chain expediencies of a perplexing but advantageous nature, resulting in 50% faster Eagle re-arm times for the next two days.
Operation Black Hole Sun[]
As with many cases in the Second Galactic War, freedom never comes without a price. Super Earth's enemies never sleep, their unending hatred for our way of life fueling them day in, day out. Bore Rock was unfortunately no different in experiencing such fascistic struggles by the bugs, and its liberation just days ago put it back in the crossfire.
On March 16, just 4 days after its liberation with the Helldivers ordered to hold against the Terminid plague spreading to Fenrir III and Achernar Secundus amongst others, strife began to occur to the north of Bore Rock. Esker, which remained under Terminid Control, had a sharp uptick in their hatcheries, bringing their enemy resistance rate up from 1% to 2%. Just moments later, Bore Rock's worst fears came true as the planet came under attack with 12 million broods leading the charge from the now-bolstered Esker. Worst of all, Bore Rock's colonial defenders would have to face a new foe: the Predator Strain, which had made planetfall on the swampy world just moments after they strangely retreated from Fenrir III.
Bore Rock fell the next day, however, the Helldivers attempted to push the Terminids back by all means and prevented the liberation index from decaying and even managed to reach as high as 85% liberation over the 3 following days before Operation Tormenta de Fuego and the resurgent Automaton threat forced the Helldivers to divert their attention, which prevented Bore Rock from being liberated.
Operation Racing Penrose[]
However, this wouldn't be the end of the liberation campaign for Bore Rock. On March 24th, with Operation Tormenta de Fuego having failed, the Helldivers were given urgent new orders by High Command: To liberate Bore Rock and Esker as quickly as possible in order to acquire the E-710 necessary to launch the Penrose Energy Siphon towards the black hole and, hopefully, delay the Meridian Singularity's advance towards Ivis for as long as it could.
The Helldivers would rush towards Bore Rock at full speed and, with the planet's prior liberation efforts having left some small advancements done, the Helldivers would concentrate their forces and see this renewed liberation effort to completion, with Bore Rock being liberated on March 25th.
Operation Vermintide[]
On the 17th of April, 2185, Bore rock would be attacked by the Terminid swarm and fall the following day. Just moments after the fall of Bore Rock, the Terminids launched a dual assault on Terrek and Erata Prime from the swampy world. The majority of Helldivers would deploy to Terrek's defense, leaving only a token force to protect Erata Prime.
However, High Command spotted an opportunity for a counterattack. With the Heavy Ordnance Distribution booster from the DSS almost ready, High Command immediately put out a dispatch calling for the Helldivers to liberate Bore Rock, thus ending the attacks on Erata and Terrek. Immediately, the Helldivers heeded the call, with the majority of the Corps arriving on the swampy world to attempt a successful gambit.
Luckily, spurred by the liberation boost provided by the extra orbital bombardments from the DSS, Bore Rock was liberated, ending the attacks upon Terrek and Erata Prime. Unfortunately Bore Rock's liberation would be short lived as the planet was attacked again on the 18th, with this defense unfortunately being unsuccessful, causing the world to fall back into the tyrannical claws of the Terminids once more.
Operation Lost World[]
By August of 2185, the citizens of Super Earth had endured well over a year of war, initiated and perpetuated by the enemies of Freedom. Whilst their resolve was firm thanks to recent victories and public relations campaigns, even they must be afforded some relief. Diversion for our hard working citizens was demanded and indeed well deserved for their patriotic service.
Accordingly, on the 13th of August the Super Earth Government would authorize the construction of Tyranny Park 2, a massive recreational and education facility showcasing the most dire threats posed to Managed Democracy. However the tragic sabotage of the first Tyranny Park on Turing and vicious massacre of its staff and a small number of brave citizens has not been forgotten. Rather, the lessons learned from its vivid demise have been integrated into this new facility, which will be safer, larger, and have significantly greater merchandising potential.
The rebirth of Tyranny Park; bigger, stronger, and better than ever would also prove to our enemies and our citizens a known truth: Freedom never backs down. However as with many great and important endeavors, the aid of the
Helldiver Corps would be needed. Thus high command ordered the Helldivers to Liberate Bore Rock to secure the Tyranny Park 2 construction site as well as collect all required samples to populate this grand and highly controlled park. They were also ordered to cull all designated Titan-Class Terminids, to enabling xenozoologists to retrieve their eggs with markedly reduced personnel losses.
The success of this project would mean the creation of a safe and fun venue for family-friendly Terminid vivisection. As such the
Helldivers would set to work liberating Bore Rock, with steady progress being made over the next several days. Final liberation would be achieved on the morning of August 16th, however even then High Command was already planning several expansions for tyranny park 2.
In addition to the self-guided off-road expeditions already hinted at, on the 15th the "The Forbidden Gloom" would be announced to much anticipation. This exciting new expansion will host terrifying Gloom-mutated Terminids for dissection, firing ranges, and family-friendly stunt shows. However in order to enable xenozoologists to safely acquire their suitably fearsome larvae, the
Helldivers would have to neutralize several (hundred) million Predator Strain and Spore Burst Terminids.
This new objective would be successfully completed on the 17th of August. This would coincide with a surge of Tyranny Park 2 ticket pre-sales, following the announcement of "The Forbidden Gloom" expansion zone. As such, Tyranny Park 2 would sponsor the Orbital Napalm Barrage stratagem to be available fleetwide for the next 48 hours.
On the 19th of August, the Tyranny Park Planning Commission would, in light of the
Helldivers recent Charger egg procurement efforts, unanimously decide to diversify Tyranny Park 2's Charger exhibits. As such the
Helldivers target Charger numbers, although not technically met, would be considered met anyway.
Thanks to the peerless valor of the Helldivers, and their steadfast dedication to top-tier edutainment the promise and prosperity of Tyranny Park 2 could now be realized. With Bore Rock secured, all necessary biological assets acquired, and all designated Titan-Class threats pacified, construction would commence immediately. Inspiringly, multiple corporate sponsors would also pledge funding for a water feature memorial for those lost in the Tyranny Park (1) tragedy.
Pioneering new safety measures have also been integrated into Tyranny Park 2. Deep subterranean scanning will secure the subsurface, all backup generators are themselves equipped with backups, and all patrons will be granted personal defense weapons for the duration of their visit. Other exciting new features include youth tours that culminate in age-appropriate group retribution against restrained Terminid Scavengers.
With the construction of Tyranny Park 2, our citizens will find much-needed distraction from the horrors of war.
Operation Ultrakill[]
On the 19th of August, 2185, multiple large-scale attacks perpetrated by the
Terminids would strike Turing, Erata Prime, Achernar Secundus and Fenrir III as well as other Gloom-adjacent planets as spore outflow rose to unprecedented levels and continued to grow exponentially. Even when under siege, the Xenobiologists at the
Centre of Science remained cool and analyzed the situation, quickly coming to the conclusion that the
Terminids were undergoing a massive population explosion. They also concluded that the only way to stop the assault was to incur a drastic reduction in the Terminid population.
Immediately, High Command called all units into high alert and issued orders for 6,000,000,000
Terminids to be eliminated, while also cautioning
Helldivers that it was possible that the Terminids would not stop attacking until this quota had been met. Bore rock would thankfully be spared the
Terminids initial assault despite being located near The Gloom. However whilst the Bug Wardens of Tyranny park prepared to face enemies from without, they never suspected that the park would be threatened by its own insidious inhabitants (again).
On the 27th of August, Tyranny Park 2's Charger Behemoth exhibit experienced a catastrophic malfunction. This flagship recreational and edutainment facility, critical to bolstering citizen morale and its significant merchandising potential, was now in grave danger of being overrun and must be held at all costs. Helldivers were advised to deploy to Bore Rock to defend the site immediately, however with the
Helldiver Corps spread thin by the
Automatons and
Illuminate too few would answer this call in time to save the park. Even worse, the outbreak on the nearby planet of Terrek would spread those few
Helldivers that responded even thinner, ultimately resulting in the park being overrun by the afternoon of the 28th.
All the
Terminids contained within the Park would escape, with spores from the forbidden gloom dozen Terminids creating
Predator Strain outbreaks several adjacent planets. Experts would agree that this unfortunate tragedy could not have been predicted (again). Nevertheless, High Command determined that this had be responded to swiftly. Meanwhile the construction site for Tyranny Park 2 on Bore Rock had been overrun by the
Terminid swarm. The fate of the pioneering dreamweavers and dedicated construction personnel on-site is unknown.
