| “ | The largest known Terminid strain, a single Bile Titan can destroy an entire SEAF platoon on its own. Engagement is not recommended without the support of heavy duty Orbital Stratagems or a high personnel replacement budget. | „ |

The Bile Titan is a massive, heavily-armored
Terminid. Bile Titans can be found on Challenging difficulty (4) as an Elimination Target and begin to spawn naturally at Extreme difficulty (6)+ and more frequently as difficulty increases.
Despite its size, the Bile Titan can quickly catch up to
Helldivers, spewing its lethal bile onto them. Helldivers near it can also be crushed or speared by its hulking claws.
As the name implies, Bile Titans are massive. Though they can be destroyed, their death throes are no less dangerous than the attacks they unleash whilst alive; oftentimes a Helldiver who is unfortunate enough to find themselves underneath a Bile Titan as it is falling will most likely perish on the spot due to the massive weight crushing down on them.
Tactics[]
- Bile Titans appear naturally on the Extreme difficulty level and above, and are assigned their own special mission on Challenging. Bile Titans are enormous but move quickly. Like Bile Spewers, they spit out streams of corrosive bile at their target, damaging and slowing them.
- The Bile Titan's carapace is heavy armor, including its legs. However, its underside bile sacs are unarmored.
- Destroying these bile sacs deals heavy damage and prevents the beast from using its acid spit attack. Doing so will also make it attempt to close the distance to stomp any divers nearby.
- It is possible to destroy a Bile Titan's torso and leg carapace with enough sustained damage, which reveals it's bright-green flesh underneath. These parts are also unarmored, and can be shot by any weapon to further deplete it's health. The titan can be killed from here, even with concentrated fire to it's legs.
- Bile Titans have the same head design as the Bile Spewer, just with heavier armor. However, it's mouth does not seem to take extra damage.
- If a Helldiver makes it underneath a Titan, it will start trying to stomp and slash them with it's legs. Titans are deceptively agile despite their size, they should not be underestimated just because they can't use their main attack against you.
- The area of effect from its melee stomp will not instantly kill, but will damage and stagger a Helldiver, which typically opens them up for a killing stab with its leg.
- Upon death, a Bile Titan's corpse will crush anyone and anything under it, most oftenly with lethal results. It is heavily advised not to be under one when its body crashes into the ground.
- A Bile Titan's corpse will also turn into difficult terrain for several minutes until it despawns. Helldivers can simply climb over them with the appropriate action button, but vehicles like exosuits are not able to go through the corpse, which may be problematic if a Titan dies on an important route.
- Bile Titan corpses are also responsible for some rarely-occurring but very weird physics-related bugs. Sometimes, they cannot be climbed, despite nothing interfering with a Helldiver's ability to do so, and sometimes they will randomly launch Helldivers into the air which inevitably injures or kills them.
- A Bile Titan's vomit attack is considered "explosive", and has a substantial AoE. While being in the center of the stream is lethal, a sizable area around the impact area will still be affected by it, suffering lesser damage and slowed by the acid effect. This effect goes through solid cover.
- It also does not discriminate against friend or foe. With a bit of timing and strategy, one can essentially turn the titan into an asset by baiting them to vomit on swarms of other terminids, who will crumple under the acidic barrage . It also works on larger targets like Chargers, but the chances of them being killed in a single spraydown is low.
- In a very weird exploitation of mechanics, this can be turned against the Titan. If one is able to deploy a FX-12 Shield Generator Relay before it vomits and the bubble is right on the Titan's face, they will effectively kill themselves with their own attack.
- Use the terrain to your advantage. While it can climb over most terrain, its attacks can be easily dodged with cover.
- Bile Titans are immune to Stun Grenades and EMS strikes.
- Using another teammate as bait will allow teammates some time to better target its weak spots.
- Baiting out its vomit attack gives an opening large enough to use a stratagem.
- This is useful for stratagems that require aim, such as Orbital Precision Strike, Eagle 500kg Bomb, and Eagle Airstrike.
- Throw-and-forget precision stratagems such as the Orbital Railcannon Strike, 110mm Rocket Pods and the Orbital Laser are useful. However, the ORS is a guaranteed kill against a titan.
- Orbital lasers aim underneath the center mass of Bile Titans, which may cause it to miss.
- A SEAF Artillery: Mini-Nuke, NUX-223 Hellbomb, or Eagle 500kg Bomb are able to kill a Bile Titan in one hit, however the latter requires the Titan to be near the epicenter of the explosion.
- Most anti-tank rocket launchers can kill a titan with a direct headshot. Rockets from the MLS-4X Commando and Patriot Exosuit require two headshots to kill.
- Hellpods are quite effective weapon against Bile Titans. In desperate situations, it is entirely possible to kill a Titan by simply dropping hellpods of various contents on it.
Notes[]
- The Bile Titan may be inspired by the Hierophant Bio-Titan employed by the Tyranids in Warhammer 40,000.
- During development, the Bile Titan was known internally as the "Strider" prior to receiving its final name.[1]
- Certain elements found in the Mega Nest in "Super Helldive" difficulty missions indicate that Bile Titans carry mutated Terminid eggs before dying, as the Mega Nest's Mutated Egg is always found within the mouth of a dead one.
- As of the patch on September 17th, Bile Titans have lower health and armor, allowing it to be taken out by much more options. The area below the abdomen now has light armor, allowing it to be killed simply by shooting enough at its stomach.
- The Bile Titan, Impaler and Dragonroach have a unique theme upon engaging them.[2]
