~ Helldivers 2 PlayStation Page |
The Bile Spewer is a moderately armored and sized Terminid that can appear on Medium difficulty and higher. They appear to be the adult form and the second evolutionary period following the Bile Spitter, followed by the Bile Titan.
Bile Spewers spit streams of highly corrosive acid called "Bile", which can slow down Helldivers and be extremely fatal if exposed to enough acid.
Super Earth propaganda claims that certain
Terminids produce this Bile due to the exposure to the toxic runoff Element-710 farms, but many believe that this strain of Terminids is the result of Super Earth genetically altering the Terminids to produce more E-710.
On Extreme difficulty and higher, Bile Spewers gain the ability to fire a mortar-like volley of bile into the air, increasing the Bile Spewer's range and lethality.
Anatomy[]
Tactics[]
- Bile spewers have a medium-armored carapace. Due to their distended abdomens, their unarmored flesh is greatly exposed. They can take a lot of conventional punishment, but are vulnerable to specialist weaponry.
- The belly of Bile Spewers have high damage resistance, but are very vulnerable to explosive damage. Impact grenades and grenade/rocket launchers are capable of easily taking them out when shot here. Note that destroying this will cause them to explode.
- If explosives are not available, shooting their heads is the next best option. If a spewer is killed here, it will not explode, but it's corpse can still be a danger.
- They can be slowed down by targeting their legs.
- The abdomens of bile spewers will explode when destroyed, even as a corpse. This has the effect of taking out other terminids nearby, including other bile spewers. Consequently, this extends to other friendly units.
- Bile spewers have three forms of attack.
- Their primary attack is their bile vomit, similar to the Nursing Spewer. This deals heavy damage, but has a few seconds of delay before vomiting. This allows a window of time to dodge to the side.
- Their secondary attack is with their front claws. It deals moderate damage, and they will typically only resort to this if enemies are too close.
- The third, is their bile artillery attack. During this time, the spewer will raise it's abdomen into the air and fire jets of acid like a mortar. It is not terribly accurate, but it does deal significant damage and knockback. During this time, spewers cannot move or attack, making them very vulnerable at close range.
- It is recommended to take out bile spewers first when encountered in a patrol. As this not only removes the patrol's long-range capabilities, it could also potentially remove a good chunk of the lighter units around them.
Variations[]
Nursing Spewer: This variation of the Bile Spewer is believed to either be a similar species to the bile spewer, easily identified via its yellow-orange coloring. They constantly emit a low carpet of of spores around them. However, they still posses the ability to spit yellow bile, this type seeming to deal less damage. Its main body will still explode when it has taken too much damage, poisoning the area for a while.
Notes[]
- They appear on Medium difficulty and higher. (Most commonly / easily found on HARD difficulty, 15 minute 'Defend Area' missions)
- Their head and abdomen area consist of medium armor while its hind legs are only protected with light armor. This makes light armor penetrating weapons rather ineffective against Bile Spewers unless shot in their mouth as they are about to launch their bile attack.
- Shooting at the Spewer's abdomen with conventional ballistics is ill advised as it can soak up an impressive amount of bullets. Using explosive weaponry is preferable for body shots, while conventional ballistics should be used to target their heads.
- A single well placed grenade near or under the Spewer will often one shot or nearly kill them. The Railgun will instant kill with one headshot or two fully charged body shots. The Grenade Launcher and Autocannon will kill in two to three rounds and any other Spewer near the AOE.
- Their spit attack consist mostly of explosive damage type and thus is reduced by Fortified armor perk.
Patch Notes[]
- As of version 1.000.200 (April 2nd 2024), the SG-8S Slugger no longer staggers them. [1]
