Bellatrix is one of the five planets that reside within the Guang Sector.
Topography[]
Similar to Achernar Secundus, Draupnir, Acamar IV, and Matar Bay.
History[]
Second Galactic War[]
Return of the Illuminate[]
Bellatrix was an ancient colony of Super Earth from the very first days after the First Galactic War. Having been identified in times before Managed Democracy, it had always been a fixture in the charts of space navigators. However, with the ongoing war and the lack of FTL Travel Technology, it was unable to be settled until after the invention of the Alcubierre Drive and the victory of Super Earth over its alien enemies.
Once an inhabitable planet was identified in the Bellatrix system, some of the Federation's bravest took on the challenge of settling it and claiming it for the cause of Liberty, labouring its cliffs and grasslands for many solar cycles until, through their hard labor, the colonists of Bellatrix managed to earn enough wealth to build urbanized settlements with commodities such as working electricity, paved roads, working water and waste management and, most important of all, pristine grass lawns on which to pitch Super Earth Flags and Helldiver Memorials.
However, an ancient foe lurked in the shadows, wishing to tear down all that which the children of Managed Democracy had so proudly built. The
Illuminate, blighted by their xenophobic hatred of humankind and blinded by their mystical fervor to their death space cult, could only writhe in envy as it watched such resplendent prosperity.
On December 17th, hours after they had devilishly plundered the colonies of Genesis Prime and Mog off their resources and an important portion of its populace, they would initiate an invasion of Bellatrix's own settlements, decided to crush the object of their envy. However, they had stirred the righteous wrath of the Helldivers, who were now thirsting for retribution over their plundered compatriots.
For 12 hours, the Helldivers fought to the best of their ability in order to fend off the Illuminate invaders. After some 6 hours of combat, the Squ'ith raiders would be successfully repelled, preventing further damage to Bellatrix's beautiful settlements.
However, the Illuminate were not ready to accept defeat just yet and sent a second assault onto Bellatrix some weeks later, on January 6th, 2185. This time however, Bellatrix would not count with as many Helldivers as before due to ongoing operations against the Automatons. This time, the Illuminate would not be repelled, as there simply weren't enough Helldivers to contain them.
Operation Democracy Delivered[]
Bellatrix would be severely damaged by the first Illuminate raids that hit it. Families were separated or wiped out, cities reduced to rubble and freedom put under extreme threat. However, the Illuminate seemingly hadn't had enough and, consequently, sent a third invasion on January 24th. With the Helldivers having been relocated to the Terminid Front after the failure of Operation Democracy Delivered, only a contingent of Helldivers would be available to aid with Bellatrix's defense and, expectedly, the Illuminate would once more escape their punishment.
Operation Deep Cleaning[]
On June 6th, the
Ministry of Science discovered that Bellatrix, along with Mog, Haldus, and Hybrobius, had
Illuminate hideouts. Thanks to wreckage analysis copiously salvaged from Super Earth's Mega Cities, the
Ministry of Science identified that the enemy's cloaking mechanisms used Dark Fluid to bend light around their smaller spacecraft. And so they fled Super Earth's orbit, hiding in these locations, presumably built before the Invasion of Super Earth, as a backup plan in case that failed.
When they were discovered, the
Illuminate quickly took control of the planets, establishing a 2% resistance on Bellatrix. High Command declared a new Major Order, called Operation Deep Cleaning, and Bellatrix was one of its targets.
Very few
Helldivers mobilized to liberate this planet, however, thanks to the attrition of the Battle of Mog, resistance dropped to 1%.
When Mog was liberated, the DSS automatically made an FTL jump to the Bellatrix system, and a large influx of
Helldivers followed him, thanks to the victory over Mog, the resistance dropped from the previous 1% to 0.5%.
FTL Lines[]
- Alderidge Cove- (Re-established on October 27th, 2185)
