Angel's Venture was one of the seven planets that reside within the Orion Sector. Whilst originally a sparsely populated world, the planet became a major training ground for the Super Earth Armed Forces following the official declaration of the Galactic War on Tyranny -- although this facility has since been shut down and turned into a campground for the Democratic Youth Scouts.
After enduring tremendous suffering during Operation Enduring Peace, Angel's Venture was honorably dubbled by certain members of the Helldiver Corps as the "Heroic Diamond of the Orion Sector". However, on February 12th, 2185, the hero planet would have its fate sealed as the Meridian Singularity had reached critical momentum and could no longer be slowed down enough to avoid collision with Angel's Venture. By February 13th, 2185, at 14:37 SEST - UTC, Angel's Venture had been completely torn apart by the singularity, now left as a dead husk of a once lush, prosperous world.
Topography[]
With a boreal climate, Angel's Venture was chilly, though not uncomfortably so. Continent-sized forests with towering trees and mountains covered vast tracts of land across the planet's surface. Mining, timber, and agricultural products were its main exports. Though technically stuck in a permanent winter, the dominance of red, orange, and green leaves gave the planet a colorful profile.
Indeed Angel's Venture was an idyllic planet covered by tall pine trees and colorful shrubbery, largely devoid of some of the worst hazards that colonists and the reactivated Helldiver Corps would face on other worlds during later campaigns. At it's height Angel's possessed a population of around half a billion, though it lacked many large urban centers, it's people instead being primarily rural, choosing to cultivate the land of their forefathers over generations.
The planet's lush green surroundings stand in stark contrast to the hideous rock-like hive structures of the Terminids. Initial estimates of the damage done by the bugs to the planet's ecosystem range anywhere between 20% and 60%, with conservation efforts being undertaken by Colonial Authorities to preserve and restore its remaining natural beauty, at least until the planet's untimely demise.
On the 13th of February, 2185 -- a little more than a year after the war on galactic tyranny began -- the planet was engulfed by the Meridian Wormhole in an act of Illuminate terrorism. The gravitational pull exhumed by the singularity would tear the planet apart, leaving behind a dead planetary core and an asteroid belt as all that remains of the planet. A solemn reminder of the desolation Tyranny leaves in its wake.
History[]
Special Military Operations prior to the Second Galactic War[]
Early Terminid Outbreaks[]
Angel's Venture was the epicenter of heavy fighting during the February Counter-Offensive, when it was engulfed in Terminid spores along with Heeth. Though the colonial militias were initially overwhelmed, both planets were successfully defended from the bug menace through the valiant efforts of the Helldivers.
Disaster of Meridia[]
In the late weeks of April and the first week of May 2184, Meridia tragically became a Terminid Supercolony due to the failure of the Terminid Control System. Though the rest of the TCS was quickly dismantled, massive outbreaks began on planets close to Meridia, Angel's Venture among them. The Helldivers were sent to these planets in order to contain the breach. While Angel's Venture, Heeth, and Veld were successfully defended, the containment operation was unsuccessful, as Acamar IV could not be cleansed.
Second Galactic War[]
The Galactic War on Tyranny was officially declared on May 15, 2184 in response to hostile actions by the Terminids and the
Automatons. Angel's Venture was selected as one of four planets (alongside neighboring Heeth, Vernen Wells and Aesir Pass) that would host S.E.A.F. training bases in order to allocate the millions of voluntary conscripts that had selflessly rushed to service.
Operation Emancipator[]
Angel's Venture would remain secured for a while, even being spared the worst horrors that the war brought onto other planets. However, that was not to be the end. Shortly after the loss of the Vernen Wells forward base, a Terminid assault put Angel's Venture under siege while the Helldivers rushed to free Varylia 5 and its crucial "Petrafactory". Despite the diversion of manpower, the Helldivers managed to effortlessly repeal the Terminid assault on Angel's Venture and liberate Varylia 5, a typical show of the Helldivers' immaculate tactical skill and cunning.
Operation Enduring Peace[]
Angel's Venture was relatively spared from most of the cruelties of the war for some time. It saw one or two assaults from the Terminids, but these were easily repelled by the SEAF. Shortly after Operation Emancipator was completed, new orders came in: the Helldivers were to hold Angel's Venture, Fenrir III and Turing in order to create a safe passage for a new weapon (which was of Illuminate origin) that had been created in order to permanently end the Meridia Supercolony. The skillful defense of Angel's Venture allowed the Helldivers to judiciously deploy this weapon across Meridia, resulting in its collapse into a black hole and ending the Supercolony once and for all.
Operation Starslayer[]
With emergency recruitment levels swelling ranks to targeted numbers, training throughput requirements have been reducing. In light of this change, the surviving emergency S.E.A.F. training facilities on Heeth and Angel's Venture were shut down and converted into recreational campgrounds for the Democratic Youth Scouts.
Operation Courageous Exodus[]
During Operation Courageous Exodus, Angel's Venture, alongside Cirrus and the recently reconnected Terrek, was chosen as one of the 3 sites from which millions of colonists, displaced by the Gloom, would be processed and relocated onto the Democracy Space Station in order for them to staff it. As such, this major order designated them as targets to be held throughout the duration of it.
However, since the Terminids never got to any planets connected to Angel's Venture, it wouldn't see any need for protection, allowing its colonists to continue their daily democratic lives in unimpeded freedom.
Operation Farsight Breach[]
Angel's Venture would continue to go undisturbed. However, its peace would only last for the remainder of the year. Following the resurgence of the Illuminate, the S.E.A.F. was thrown into disarray and the front lines began to crumble, as the Terminids began several offensives thanks to a surge in spore outbursts from within the Gloom. The Helldivers would struggle to contain the invading insects and, after the fall of Heeth on January 13th, the Terminids immediately launched 2 consecutive attacks onto both Cirrus and Angel's Venture.
With the Illuminate raids constantly drawing away a significant portion of Helldivers, the main fleet would be unable to defend Cirrus, instead deciding to concentrate their defenses on Angel's Venture despite strategic advisory from High Command recommending a counterattack on Heeth. Despite this, the Helldivers successfully defended the heroic planet once more, preserving its pristine perennial forests from the ravenous horde once again.
Destruction of Angel's Venture[]

Since its last defense in January, Angel's Venture once again reclaimed its title as a jewel of liberty in the east. With the Terminids officially pushed out of the Orion Sector with the liberation efforts on both Heeth and Cirrus, Angel's Venture remained untouched and undisturbed, once again surrounded by nothing but liberty... or so it thought.
At the beginning of the month, with all Helldiver attention in the Galactic West to contain the rebuilt Automaton Jet Brigade, a shocking event would begin to occur just to the north of the beautiful planet in the Umlaut Sector that would end all notions of total peace for Angel's Venture. The Illuminate, the vile faction whose shocking return to the galaxy remained shrouded in mystery, finally revealed their true intentions to Super Earth. They were using the Meridian Singularity, now deemed to be a wormhole, as a weapon and began to somehow move it in the direction of
Super Earth. The Illuminate seemed to be able to move the Singularity by harvesting Dark Energy through their constant raids in the Galactic south, disturbing gravitational waves and somehow changing the orbit of Meridia. With every successful raid by the Illuminate, more and more Dark Energy would be gained and would accelerate the velocity of this wormhole.
On the afternoon of February 8, 2185, High Command issued an Order stating that the current trajectory of the Meridian Singularity had it headed right for Angel's Venture, spelling disaster for the noble and peaceful citizens of the vibrant, elegant world. All Helldivers would be ordered to immediately deploy to the Galactic South to stop the Illuminate from gathering Dark Energy in the hopes of preventing what is now a rapidly dangerous situation unfolding near the planet.

For the next 4 days, the Helldivers fought tooth and nail in the Galactic South, repelling as many Illuminate invasions as possible to stop imminent catastrophe from unfolding. While the majority of the Helldivers would fight hard against the xenophobic squids, they would end up losing 4 invasions out of the first 11 they faced, hindering their ability to try to slow the rapidly moving Singularity. It was seemingly unable to be stopped, rapidly traveling through space as it continued to move further and further away from its original orbit as a planet. Despite all the Helldivers' best efforts, the mood became more and more somber surrounding the jewel of Angel's Venture, the stunningly beautiful world now on the path of a collision course with the face of pure evil. Many began fearing the worst for the elegant world, now clinging to a small semblance of hope for a last-ditch miracle.
In the morning hours of February 12, the freight train-like Meridian Singularity was officially noted as moving past the border of the Umlaut Sector, officially crossing into the Orion Sector. Simultaneously, the Helldivers continued to fight like hell on Irulta to stem the flow of the Dark Energy powering Meridia's movement. Despite this massive effort, Irulta's time-crunched defense moved at too rapid a speed for the Helldivers, who were on the precipice of gaining the lead over their xenophobic enemies on the planet but just could not gain the advantage. The situation began to look more and more bleak, with the peaceful citizens on the Venture terrified over what was to come next.
Just a few hours after Meridia had broken past the Umlaut-Orion border, High Command would release the most sobering and urgent of Priority Alerts. They stated that the Meridian Singularities' momentum was far too great and that it could no longer be slowed enough to avoid barreling into Angel's Venture. Most haunting and heart-shattering of all, the Alert read: "Angel's Venture can no longer be saved."
The news sent shockwaves throughout the Corps and many of Super Earth's loyal citizens. Many in the Corps would make it known that this incoming atrocity would never be forgotten, that the beautiful rolling hills of the planet would remain etched in the memory of the entire SEAF and Venture's colonists forever. Others on Super Earth were fearful of what was next, with the hungry Meridia seemingly unimpeded in its journey of destruction.

Across the federation flags flew at half mast as a sign of mourning[1]
In the 24 hours that followed the apocalyptic announcement from High Command, the S.E.A.F. attempted to evacuate as many millions of citizens as it could off the planet's surface, starting with the higher priority class citizens first. Reportedly, a single ensemble orchestra decided to voluntarily remain on the planet's surface, playing the soothing tunes of Managed Democracy even in the face of certain death[2] just so they could help calm their fellow compatriots.
Then, on February 13th, 2185, at 14:37 SEST - UTC, the Meridian Singularity would make contact with the Angel's Venture system. Whilst the singularity didn't engulf the planet's surface as many assumed it would, the mere proximity of the singularity and it's gravitational waves was more enough to tear its mantle apart and shatter its core. As many as 500,000,000[3] citizens who were still on the planet's surface were killed, with the death toll still continuing to rise. The once prosperous planet, its surface having been farmed for generations, the proud pines of the Democratic Youth Scouts campgrounds, were all torn apart and destroyed by the Singularity, in a striking blow that dealt incalculable loss. Immediately afterwards, the President of Super Earth announced a Galaxy-wide mourning period of 24 hours.
