Afoyay Bay is one of the six planets that reside within the Gallux Sector. In the wake of the November dissident crisis of 2185, dissident holding facilities across the federation would be filled to near critical capacity. To alleviate this,
Super Earth High Command would order the construction of a massive, Mega City-sized
Center for the Containment of Dissidence on the planet. Once built, the CECOD would hold up to 15 million dissidents, enabling thorough and secure re-education.
Not long after the facility's completion on the 11th of December, High Command would order the construction of
Pandora Base on Afoyay Bay. A top-secret foundry dedicated to the ultimate evolution of the
Democracy Space Station,
Pandora Base will develop the next-generation Galactic defense technologies central to the upcoming Operation Free Space. Construction would utilize a workforce of millions of legally-mandated volunteers from the
Center for the Containment of Dissidence, offering its populace the means with which to regain their citizenship and their voting rights.
Topography[]
Similar to Bellatrix and Achernar Secundus.
History[]
Second Galactic War[]
Return of the Illuminate[]
Afoyay Bay was an ancient colony of Super Earth settled after the First Galactic War. Not many events stand out in its history, as it was a colony much like all others in its sector, with an economy strong enough that it allowed for the construction of urbanized settlements with commodities such as working electricity, paved roads, working water and waste management and, most important of all, pristine grass lawns on which to pitch Super Earth Flags and Helldiver Memorials.
However, an ancient foe lurked in the shadows, wishing to tear down all that which the children of Managed Democracy had so proudly built. The
Illuminate, blighted by their xenophobic hatred of humankind and blinded by their mystical fervor to their death space cult, could only writhe in envy as it watched such resplendent prosperity.
On December 23rd, hours after they had devilishly plundered the colonies of Hydrobius off their resources and an important portion of its populace, they would initiate an invasion of Afoyay Bay's own settlements, decided to crush the object of their envy. However, they had stirred the righteous wrath of the Helldivers, who were now thirsting for retribution over their plundered compatriots. They would deploy a contingent onto the planet in hopes of repelling the invasion before too much damage could be done. However, the Helldivers wouldn't be capable of fighting in full force, as they were in disarray due to other fronts also requiring a lot of manpower and, comprehensibly, the Illuminate would withdraw once they plundered enough resources and people from the planet.
Yet, the aliens' greed would find no bounds and, on January 14th, 2185, the Illuminate attacked Afoyay Bay a second time. And much like the first time, the Helldivers would only be able to dispatch a contingent to the planet, as now they had to also contend with Terminid onslaughts in the Farsight Sector, which made logistics difficult. Once more, the Illuminate pillaged all they could and abducted all civilians they could catch before withdrawing after 12 hours once again.
Operation Ashes of Remembrance[]
Afoyay would face several more
Illuminate raids until April 2185. Time and time again, the Squ'ith would decimate the planet's colonial infrastructure, ravage its farms, and kidnap more civilians to be converted into Voteless. Simultaneously, the Illuminate would use Afoyay along with every other planet they raided to harvest Dark Energy to propel the Meridian Singularity toward
Super Earth. Eventually, thanks to the efforts of the valiant
Helldivers, the Singularity was halted in its tracks, but not before the Wormhole destroyed Angel's Venture, Moradesh, and Ivis. The xenophobic rage and aggression dealt an incalculable loss to the Federation, with these fractured planets being scars within the glorious light of liberty.
Eventually, following their failed invasion of
Super Earth, the surviving
Illuminate from the bloody battle would retreat to the Galactic South and begin to re-establish their former empire of a century ago. They would establish a foothold across the Omega, Ferris, Akira, and Hanzo Sectors, having secretly held an abundance of forces in reserve if they pathetically lost on Super Earth. They then enacted full control over Alamak VII and Alairt III, using the distraction created by the
Terminids from June 10th-17th to twist Alamak and Alairt's Mega Cities into totalitarian strongholds. Though the
Helldivers then made an audacious attempt to end the Illuminate attempt at establishing a major forward base on the two planets, only Alamak would be fully expunged of the Squ'ith menace as Alairt now served as a stronghold of the xenophobic, hating Illuminate Cult.
As time went on, the
Illuminate slowly continued to grow their empire, as they now began to invade planets with the intent to capture them rather than their old hit-and-run tactics. As such, they would grow their influence in the Omega and Hanzo Sectors, eventually claiming the entirety of the former save for the isolated Seasse. They would also expand to the Rictus Sector, taking control of the highly-populated Mega Cities on Genesis Prime. Afoyay would constantly be under the threat of an invasion, as it was flanked to the south and the west by
Illuminate-controlled Zea Rugosia and Ain-5. It was likely that the bay wouldn't see peace for too much longer.
Inevitably, the
Illuminate grew tired of not having a foothold yet in the Gallux Sector. At 12:15 PM-SEST on
Super Earth, seven Illuminate invasion ships would appear in the atmosphere of Afoyay Bay and assault the planet to make their first capture of the Sector. With no Orders elsewhere at the time, a very strong contingency of
Helldivers would immediately deploy to the defense of the planet and had already severely weakened the incoming Illuminate attack.
Afoyay bay would fall on July 13th to the invading Illuminate, its defense having been neglected due to ongoing campaigns at Slif and Veld against the Terminids, which were crucial to finally forcing the odious horde to retreat.
War on Dissidence[]
The November dissident crisis of 2185 would prove to be far more severe than initially believed. The expanded
Centre for Civilian Surveillance and Safety would ultimately find dissident activity on every Super Earth planet, save
Super Earth itself. Extended breaks, prolonged eye contact with authority figures; use of slang and avoiding eye contact with authority figures amongst others. These acts of disloyalty endanger all citizens as tragically proved by recent attacks. In response the Government would declare a new war: The War on Dissidence. All domestic territories were immedately designated as warzones. Curfews were put in place. Military surveillance satellites turned inward to scan for dissident threats and
S.E.A.F. units would be deployed in force to cities across the Federation to maintain order as the dissidents are hunted down.
Naturally the enemies of democracy would attempt to exploit this vulnerability, with it being up to the
Helldivers to hold the line. At the same time however, dissident holding facilities would near critical capacity. In response
Super Earth High Command would order the construction of a massive, Mega City-sized
Center for the Containment of Dissidence on Afoyay Bay, which was still under heavy illuminate occupation.
After retaking New Stockholm and Ain-5, the
Helldiver lead liberation fleet would reach Afoyay Bay on the 1st of December, 2185. Operations to liberate the planet would begin almost immediately before finally wrapping up in the afternoon of December 2nd, with
S.E.A.F. engineers deploying to construct the foundations of the new facility. The
Helldivers meanwhile redeployed to Pherkad Secundus in order to follow up on extremely-high-confidence intel indicating the presence of dissidents hiding from justice in the jungles of the
Terminid infested planet.
Operation Kalium[]
After attempts to liberate the
Automaton held Magma Planets of K and Mox were met with limited success, High Command would initiate a trailblazing strategy spearheaded by the
Ministry of Expansion, to ensure our benevolent Federation never lacks room for growth: Operation Free Space.
To launch this project, High Command would order the construction of
Pandora Base. A top-secret foundry dedicated to the ultimate evolution of the
Democracy Space Station,
Pandora Base will develop the next-generation Galactic defense technologies central to Operation Free Space. Construction will utilize a workforce of millions of legally-mandated volunteers from the
Center for the Containment of Dissidence, offering its populace the means with which to regain their citizenship and their voting rights.
The
Helldivers were therefore ordered to hold Afoyay Bay, and liberate and hold all remaining Magma Planets, to secure supply lines and workforce transport shuttles. Failure would result in project delays and reduced atonement opportunities for those who need them the most. Thanks to the exemplary heroism of the
Helldivers in successfully safeguarding the Magma Planets, they would get their chance.
With the new facility underway, Operation Free Space would now enter its implementation phase. As part of this, High Command would declassify the initiative's ultimate objective: the Star of peace. Once implemented, this glorious upgrade would augment the
Democracy Space Station into a beacon capable of projecting Liberty's light across entire planetary systems.
Armed with this righteous knowledge and the chance to regain their citizenship, the workforce of legally-mandated volunteers from the
Center for the Containment of Dissidence would far exceeded productivity quotas. Their unwavering enthusiasm confirming both the rehabilitative power of Managed Democracy, and the efficacy of on-site motivational measures. Fueled by the resources of the Magma Planets, Operation Free Space is on course to revolutionize Freedom as we know it.
