The lifeless grey of this planet is interrupted only by violet flowers that grow from strange, parasitting outcroppings
~ official description

Aesir Pass is one of the three planets that reside within the Hydra Sector. Its landscape generally consists of dead, coral-like flora with the occasional purple parasitic flower growing on top of it, similar to Penta, Nivel 43, and Troost

This planet marks one of the borders between the Hydra and Marspira Sectors, as it contains one of the only FTL line that goes into it through Curia, the other being Vernen Wells to Tarsh.

Topography[ | ]

A cold, grey and rocky world with a nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere. Permafrost covers most of the surface except for the more temperate equatorial regions. The low temperatures cause evaporation of water to be slow. Much of the planet experiences seasonal rain and fog in the summers, as water gathers in bogs and ponds. A stable biosphere exists but vegetation is mostly limited to mosses, lichens and violet flowers seen on other primordial worlds.

History[ | ]

Second Galactic War[ | ]

For the most part Aesir Pass was able to avoid the rigors of the second galactic war, at least until the Automaton reclamation and their surprise invasion of the Valdis sector. With the Automaton fleet advancing towards super earth, High Command established the Menkent Line in order to stop the fleet, however the Automaton's then attempted to go around the line by trying to flank through Marfark and then, presumably, continue their advance through Aesir Pass, but thankfully the attempt was thwarted on Menkent and so Aesir Pass was able to avoid becoming a battlefield... for the time being.

After the Lesath breach and the attack on Vernen Wells; war would come to Aesir and after the official declaration of the Galactic War on Tyranny, the planet would be one of the four chosen by Super Earth High Command to be the location of new training facilities, required to process the Billions of able-bodied citizens from across the Federation who volunteered for conscription.

Operation Destiny Manifested[ | ]

Aesir Pass would go through the rest of the month of May untouched, save for a couple Automaton assaults that would be quickly repelled. However, as Super Earth High Command refocused its efforts into the containment of the Terminid Supercolony, the Automaton Front slowly collapsed, with Vernen Wells falling during Operation Freedom's Calling and having its forward base destroyed, which permanently crippled the SEAF's ability to assist the Helldivers in liberation campaigns.

Shortly after the destruction of Meridia, as new liberation campaigns were ordered, Aesir Pass would face its third Automaton assault of the war, now being very understaffed and undersupplied. By June 6, Aesir Pass had fallen and its SEAF Training Facilities were destroyed.

Operation Trolley Problem (June 11th - 12th)[ | ]

On June 11th, High Command has recieved two urgent pleas for rescue. One coming from Vernen Wells, and other from Marfark. From Wells, plea for rescue of civilians stranded in Super Citizen Anne's Hospital For Very Sick Children, while the one from Marfark shown that Automatons hold hostage the final components for Anti Tank Mines, stolen from Choohe. With both planets behind the frontlines, Helldivers decided to begin their breakthrough on Aesir Pass.

By June 12th, the Helldivers successfully liberated Aesir Pass, allowing the battle to flow towards both of the planets designated for liberation by the Major Order, with Vernen Wells being the clear favorite.

Operation Starslayer[ | ]

Whilst the details of the project remain highly classified, during the first Galactic War an advanced weapons lab on the planet of X-45 was working on the development of a powerful interplanetary battle station. However the project was abandoned along with the laboratory (and the planet) due to high levels of radiation on X-45 -- possibly nuclear in nature.

Automatons shortly after learnt of this endeavor through cyber attacks on Super Earth network infrastructure, and launched a series of massive attacks from neighboring Meissa on July 3rd, 2184. At the same time, SEAF has announced a massive mobilization of troops on Aesir Pass, to further strike at automatons once the excavation on X-45 ends. The amassment of troops was interrupted on afternoon of July 6th, when Automatons, fearing a cut off from their southern claims, attacked the pass with massive force. With Helldivers already stretched thin in Ymir sector, and other half of their force farming Terminids, the defense prospect looked grim. The stationed SEAF infantry fought to their last man, as the Helldivers, being stretched between the defenses of Meissa, Vega Bay and Aesir Pass, could not arrive in time to help relief their brethren.

However, their sacrifice was not in vain, as despite all the losses, X-45 would be successfully defended and the plans for the intergalactic battle station secured.

Operation Andromeda[ | ]

With hearts heavy from the recent massacre, and shortly after conducting a short weapons test on the Terminids, Super Earth Command would issue a new major order: In the name of the slain SEAF soldiers and with the momentum behind them after their victory on X-45, the Helldivers now had to secure Aesir Pass, alongside Marfark, Matar Bay and Martale. Being the first planet in line, Aesir Pass was liberated first, allowing the Helldivers to pass onto Marfark to continue their quest for Liberation.

Operation Righteous Expunge[ | ]

However, Aesir Pass would not be allowed to enjoy its freedom for too long. As the Helldivers continued their push to crush the newly made Matar Bay Encirclement, the bots would begin scheming in devious manners. As the Helldivers began to divert more and more forces into the encircled planets, the bots would advance on Aesir Pass in a double assault that they would conduct against it and Matar Bay. However, at the time, their victory was short lived as, while they captured Aesir Pass, they weren't able to break the line separating them from the encirclement, as the assault on Matar Bay was successfully repelled.

Operation Lighthouse[ | ]

Despite this, the Automatons continued their maleficent machinations. On the morning of August 10th, the Automatons made their first move towards Super Earth since the invasion of the Valdis Sector and launched a massive attack on the planet of Curia. Occupied with higher priority operations, such as the valiant rescue of Socorro III amidst the apparition of The Gloom, the Helldivers would be spread to thin, having to capture both Troost and Vandalon IV while holding the line against the bolstered Terminids. Curia, despite its brave and courageous defense, would be captured, its colonists being mercilessly massacred as the few survivors that remained went into hiding throughout its surface to mount a valiant resistance against the heartless machines.

Operation Crossroads[ | ]

Aesir Pass would remain untouched after Operation Lighthose, as the Automaton Vanguard at Curia would be ultimately defeated after Operation Ecologic Immolation. However, this victories wouldn't bring Aesir Pass the peace it had been robbed of by the Automatons. With the construction of the Democracy Space Station beginning at nearby Gaellivare, the Automatons began to bolster their forces, expanding the conflict into the Tanis and Talus sectors. However, once the Automatons were righteously dislodged out of Gaellivare and Claorell, the self-actuated assailants would turn their forces westward once more. After stealing whatever scrap metal and lost gear they could from captured planets and fallen Helldivers, the Automatons would unleash a new horrid foe onto the front: The Jet Brigade.

This abominable force would go on to capture Matar Bay and Martale in just 2 days, as the Automatons went on a blind search for the Democracy Space Station, having learned of its existence through malicious cyberattacks. However, after the defense of Marfark, the robots would be stopped and the Jet Brigade repealed yet not entirely destroyed. As such, Super Earth was in desperate need of reinforcing the Democracy Space Station's security, with nearby Lesath being the priority target.

However, the situation would complicate itself soon, as the Terminids would then begin an offensive towards Acamar IV, aided by a spore surge originating from within the Gloom. As such, with Liberty Day right around the corner, the Helldivers had to make a choice: Liberating Lesath, safeguarding the DSS, or defending the Terminid Research Preserve. The Helldiver Corps would choose the former and began immediate deployments onto Lesath. However, Lesath's liberation would end up costing more than just the setbacks on the Terminid front. On October 23rd, just as the Terminids started to overwhelm the defenses at Gacrux and Pandion-XXIV, the Automatons began a counteroffensive and immediately began to assault Aesir Pass. Due to the majority of the Corps being split between Lesath and the Terminid front, the planet would see very few Helldivers come to its aid, and the planet would fall under Automaton control by the next day with no serious liberation efforts made on the planet following its defeat.
