| ~ Armory Description |
The AR-23P Liberator Penetrator is an assault rifle in Helldivers 2. It is a variant of the standard AR-23 Liberator, featuring a marksman's scope, longer barrel, and uses specialized armor-piercing rounds to defeat enemy armored infantry.
The weapon is unlocked on the sixth page of Warbond: Helldivers Mobilize.
Role:[]
The AR-23P handles much like the standard AR-23, except for a slightly wider shot grouping from the increased recoil. It trades lower damage for medium armor penetration, allowing it to effectively engage harder targets, the standard Liberator might struggle from. While the lower damage per shot is noticeable; its higher degree of armor penetration allows it to bypass lightly-armored enemies with innate damage resistance, overall giving it a harder punch against tougher targets.
Unlike the standard AR-23, and most other weapons, the AR-23P comes with the same variable optic used by the R-63 Diligence, which features a green floating reticle, rather than the usual cross.
The weapon is best used against
Automatons and the
Illuminate, as the higher armor-pen will make dealing with the various types of Devastators and Overseers much easier, while the plentiful ammo supply still makes it viable against their chaff hordes.
Tactics[]
- Due to the weapon's lower damage output, it is not as efficient against the Terminids' mass hordes of chaff, and limited medium infantry. That said, this removes the need for a specialized weapon to deal with Hive Guards and Bile Spewers.
- Due to the increased recoil, it is much easier to aim the weapon in third-person when firing rapidly.
- With the new attachment system, the AR-23P is capable of using a 60rd drum magazine, insofar the only medium-penetrating primary capable of having its magazine capacity increased. By reducing both vertical and horizontal recoil, and using the 60-rd drum, one can essentially get an almost-recoilless SAW that still handles like a standard assault rifle.

Trivia[]
- The AR-23P originally only had a burst/semi option, and a lower 30rd magazine. Coupled with the Liberator's originally low damage, the AR-23P was considered by many to be the absolute worst weapon in the game due to its pitiful damage output. This would slowly get fixed and the AR-23P was given a full auto function, along with a larger 45rd magazine and a damage buff.
- Just like the base Liberator, the Liberator Penetrator is also heavily based on the IWI Tavor, in this case the Tavor 7 variant chambered in 7.62x51mm and with a longer barrel and fore-end.
